In this lecture, EKG is going to cover the regulation of the cell cycle, looking at what initiates the cycle and what stops it from continuing. We're going to break down the cell cycle checkpoints-the factors that determine whether or not the cycle will progress or not-and the cell cycle control system. Next, you're going to learn about the components and molecules that make up the regulatory system.

There are three human Cdc25 homologues: Cdc25A, B, and C. Cdc25 is a protein phosphatase (cell cycle regulator) important in the activation of CDKs. What they do is remove the inhibitory phosphorylation in Cdks. So cdc25A will activate the cyclin D-CDK4 complex and the cyclin E-CDK2 complex, which will then phosphorylate Rb, which will eventually be important for G1/S progression. Hope that helps!
