I read the manga a bit, honestly it's a very its very dark. Not likes gory but more depressing . it makes you feel very guilty for treating your body like shit. I actually tried to be a bit more healthy after reading it
In this world where everyone is overworked and underpaid with little time for recharge... No wonder health is going down. I have a theory that lack of rest and lack of nature is a major factor in bad health. Sadly our society does not cater for this. Health care workers especially are not given adequate time to rest emotionally and physically. It’s not right. Money is no good if your health is down the drain and you can’t make money if your workers are sick, coming to work sick... Etc. Just my thoughts as someone with chronic illness, with an alcoholic nurse mother, etc. I appreciate you dude and the work you do. Thank you for taking your precious free time and making these vids.
The regular Cells at Work is pretty much general audience by Japanese standards, PG by US standards due to violence and blood depictions. The show depicted someone with some medical issues, some potential very serious, but few required medical treatment from outside the body. I've read several of the Code Black manga. It is much more mature content, not just in the depiction of characters, such as the white blood cell. It covers not just stress related illnesses but addiction, sexual disorders, aging and death to some extent. It will not be as audience friendly as the original show, but is still educational and explains things in just as much detail. Code Black starts in the body of a middle aged man who is not living a healthy lifestyle and nearly dies as a result of work related stress and over indulgence. In later books in the series this individual has changed their lifestyle, improved alot, and donated blood. This last act moves the main characters to an older body in even worse shape than the body they were born in was at the beginning of the 1st book in the code black series.
iirc it’s a double meaning, both for the hospital code and the fact that in Japan a “black company” is a term that refers to companies with extremely bad working conditions and environments
