You said freedom, not independence. They are not the same. Scotland recently had a referendum and they voted to remain part of the union. The English never had a vote. I'd say it's the English who should feel pissed off, not the Scottish, especially as there are only 5 million Scots and 50 million English. The Union of Britain was also instigated by the Scots and first rule was under a Scottish king. Today Scotland has its own parliament yet Scottish ministers can (and do) still vote in English affairs whereas the English have no say in Scottish matters. So do 't give us this stupid Mel Gibson driven freedom for Scotland bullshit.

@lightspeed they're most definitely not confused. Celtic was made in Glasgow for the Irish immigrants who left from the famine and other oppressive issues. Many settled in Scotland. The club was founded by Irish for the Catholic population in Scotland. Does that clear up your confusion?
I've just noticed it in recent years, same as there are fewer Rangers fans going to support the national team because of a small matter with the SFA. I know hundreds of fans of both clubs.

Many Irish came to Scotland due, yes, to the famine but these were both Protestant and Catholic. It was the British authorities who grabbed all the food that was produced from the land and shipped it abroad for money (because Ireland always has been a green, rich country, agriculturally speaking)

The Celtic 'clients' - for that is what fans really are because they sustain the club's owners and players in fantastic style - are not all Catholic, far from it. Catholics only represent 14% of Scotland's popuation. A lot of the Celtic clients therefore are Protestants. Interesting!
As I understand it the old Rangers FC was, in the end, found not guilty, twice at 2 independent tribunals, the second being by the most senior judge in the land. So the question now is,why was that club punished so severely (5 times including relegation to the lowest league and banned from Europe) BEFORE the verdicts were made?
There are thousands of Celtic fans who come from the Highlands, the Borders and the east coast of Scotland (in Arbroath for example) and I've heard a number of them mention that they'd prefer to see a green saltire flown more often at Celtic Park instead of a flag of another country with which they have no connections. Plymouth Argyll is another club with Scottish connections in the past (the name Argyll will give you a clue)but they don't go on and on about it. If Ireland was such a great footballing country why haven't they produced some big clubs instead of heading over the sea to watch Man Utd, Liverpool, Celtic etc etc?
I am not a Rangers supporter. I support one of the wee-er teams in Scotland, but can see through now what has actually happened. As indeed many more fans are beginning to see.
