This is the Official Celtic FC Podcast and on this episode, we are joined by Celtic legend Neil Lennon in an exclusive interview.
The former treble-winning player and manager joins for this special European edition of the podcast as the Hoops head to take on Lazio in Rome in the UEFA Champions League.
Lennon helps preview the big Euro match by reflecting on his own historic victories over the Serie A side back in 2019, as he describes how his team managed to win away in the UEFA Europa League on a famous night in Italy.
The ex-captain looks back on his own memories of his playing career in Europe as he reflects on some huge nights against the likes of Liverpool, Porto, Barcelona and so much more.
He also takes time to remember his time as a manager in the Champions League at Paradise and provides the inside story on that season in 2012/13 as Celtic defeated Spartak Moscow and Barcelona to reach the last-16.

Yep. I’m 40, wasn’t particularly happy at how he gave the fans some dogs abuse in his last stint however there’s no way you can take Neil Lennon out of Celtic and you shouldn’t, he was a loyal player , manager and has always been a fan

Hi guys from.south africa ..I enjoyed the show very much ..well done neil for all the years u gave celtic ..I am.not a young guy anymore the lisbon lions was my team ..in the jungle was my place 6 shilling to get into the games £1.50 for the stand I would like to say I was one of the lucky ones to watch wee Jimmy. There is only 1 neil lennon.. the guy is a real celtic legend 10 league titles 7 Scottish cups and 3 league cups total..... as a player 5 titles and as a manager 5 titles thats fantastic for a celtic manager so all the fans that dislike him because of the 10 in a row, well he started that run and finished it with a treble.. so nothing but good memories of watching his teams.. so massive respect neil and all the best in your future....ynwa..🇮🇪🍀💚🍀🇮🇪

Neil was a good manager but he just stayed on for too long long and tarnished his career. We should have gotten 10 in a row if he just had left and let someone else take over but his ego was his downfall

Treble winning manager and player. European finalist. Played a massive part in our second nine in a row. Risked his life managing us in the face of outrageous sectarian attacks, physically assaulted, bullets in the post. Never turned on him due to results, it was they way he behaved. Don’t forget the interviews and the arrogance in his comments at the time. He turned on the fans very bit as badly as the results. By far and away handled the covid situation worse than anyone. Then when he left the club his comments were worse.

Phenomenal footballer, which people tend to forget. Successful manager, but his lack of accountability for his failings and the way he turned on the support leaves a bitter memory. Wish him all the best.

Obviously his second stint as manager didn’t end as well as we’d all hoped. Pandemic combined with the Board hanging him out to dry, leaving our squad stagnate, contracts run down and not providing him with the tools to overhaul it at the time. Had no permanent natural right back on the books at the club for the second half of that season, once Frimpong was sold in Jan, for example. Ajer, Christie, Eddie, Ntcham, et al. all wanting out. Being kept against their wishes and their deals being run down. Relying on a half fit Griffiths to rediscover his past form. Club recruiting the likes of Barkas, Duffy, Laxalt, Klimala, Shved, Bayo, Kenny, Soro and expecting him to work miracles with them. Must have been a complete horror show as a manager, but he never complained or spoke ill about the club afterwards. Change was needed in the end but will never forget this man’s commitment and love towards our club, especially when you consider it was at personal and family sacrifice at times. As a player and leader he was absolutely incredible and as a manager was right up there with one of the best to manage us. Wasn’t always a fan of his tactical set up but he was one of the best we’ve had at getting results in big games. (That last season aside.) Will always consider him a Celtic legend. HH 💚

Fantastic interview. You could do a 1 hour episode covering each year of the MON era, that's how special it was. Neil is a Celtic legend, one bad season where his players downed tools doesn't define him.

No matter your opinion , Neil is a Celtic legend and please please remember this guy went through threats on his life in the weekly, had to retire from being captain of his country and attacked on the sidelines because of his religion and belief. He also suffered and prob suffers still from really severe depression , he’s had a lot to deal with

Mate can you imagine the pressure he was under in that specific season while the world’s crumbling around him? No fans, no finances, players checked out mentally, amongst multiple other things. Lenny is a Celtic legend who’s done more than his fair share for us and I wish more fans would acknowledge the good times because there were plenty!

Lennon chucked the players and the club under the bus long before anyone chased the celtic team bus. He should have sacked after the cluj game. Full stop. The club are the richest and biggest in the county but are run like a bowling club.
