I like Méav's voice the best out of all the Celtic Woman's voices. She has a special talent, to be able to hit all of those high notes and still be pitch perfect and still have a nice, full, round, and beautiful sound.
Of the many singers I've heard during my lifetime, Meav is one of the VERY FEW with a voice that will bend as she commands it - she has a range that's out of this world. I'd like to see her back with CW but I do understand family has to come first.
There are performers who have me reaching for the 'Like' button as soon as I know that the video isn't technically messed up (like the ones shot with -UGH!- cellphones). Glorious Meav always has me wishing for a 'Worship' button.
Beautiful!! There is no other most beautiful, more talented, and lovely person than Méav Ni Mhaolchatha. She is always just as you see her here. Thank you for this lovely interview so many years ago, Méav. Thank you that you are still just sweet. Thank you for your never-ending work in writing the most lovely songs in the world. Your new solo cd "THE CALLING" is a reflection of your wonderful talent and the beauty of your gorgeous voice. What you see here is the real Méav you get!!!
I can sing in Gaelic, though often I don't know what the words mean. I pick up the lyrics from listening and watching, and trial and error. And I love it when I get the tingly feeling that means I got it. I'm shy, though, so that means that if someone passes me or walks into the room I break off midword and pretend I wasn't doing anything until they leave. 9_9. I think I would die if Celtic Woman somehow decided that they wanted me up there. I love these women! I wonder if they ever get scared
You are one of the five most Angelic voices i ever had the pleasure to listen to. Liked it so much I was compelled to buy your CD and also the video! Hope Iwill hear these voices when I'll pass on!
I've watched this video over and over, mainly just to listen to her talk! Irish accents are sooo cool, but this interview is great too. Meav has always been my favorite everything.
I loved her in Celtic Woman, but I also love her solo albums! She is so amazingly talented and I am using her songs to practice my classical/Celtic voice since I have never had training! I love Meav's voice!!!! :)
To me, Meav and Lisa were the core of Celtic Woman. Without them, a lot of the magic is just gone. I mean, they are still amazing compared to most singing groups. But, I'm sorry - Meav and Lisa brought the fire. Now it's just smoking embers.
+Charles Blount I've played the few initial seconds of the wideo some 7 times to learn her name. Worth remebering as I love that bunch of Celtic Women, together with their entourage and everything.
I wish she’d come back and sing with them again, they are coming to MD this December but its not the same without any of the original members ❤, she is my favorite ❤️
Unless they were content to just reprise past work, arranging the music for a Celtic Woman Supergroup would be a huge undertaking. I've no doubt that David Downes could do it, but it would be a bigger job than he's probably got time for. Then there's the lawyer stuff. The ladies who have left CW probably have contracts with other companies by now, so there would be licenses to negotiate.
She is so amazing and her name is beatiful... if only I was from Ireland. I do hope to move there someday... (please don't think me strange, celtic heritage runs thickly thru my veins I think I was Irish in a past life ;)
She has the most English-y accent; her Irish lilt isn't as strong as, say, Orla's.....it's just kind of interesting how they're all Irish, but their accents are all slightly different.
We'll love and support Meav, whatever she does, but her leaving CW hurts. Fortunately, David Downes has provided us with Lynn Hilary, who has met the challenge of entering the tour in progress. What a fantastic procurer of talent he is!
I personally feel that Orla was the best. They all are lovely, don't get me wrong. Though with the new ladies, the sound just isn't quite right and doesn't have that fire that someone else said that the original women brought.
Nee-WEL-cha-ha with a ch as in Scottish Loch. but less emphasized and not guttural. Ní Mhaolchatha is shortened from Iníon Uí Mhaolchatha, meaning daughter of Ó Maolchatha. You can hear her say it in the clip.
actually, it's probably because she's from a different part of ireland. If you notice, english people also have stronger or weaker accents depending on where and who they live around.
@irishmusicalgurl1216 no cuz they got didree as a sub cuz right after this preformance,in one of the shows it says meav will not be preformingg because she is having a baby so didree took the place
@ImaginaryNightshade Okay thanks :) I'm not really used to the Irish accent to tell you the truth, much more with the British and the American ones. (I'm French)
wow, how did you find that out? I looked and looked and couldn't find anything lol. thanks! I knew she was young since she just had her first child. But anyway, I always thought Mairead looked the oldest.
