Finals MVP it's not as big of a prestige award as League MVP. To be League MVP You must be the best player for an entire year in the entire league, people were arguing whether joker should have won 3 because it is a prestige and legacy award unlike finals MVP which is awarded to the player who had the best series.

Why are you all arguing about your opinion on who is the best player on the Celtics? The problem you are avoiding is that your opinion may be incorrect. Just because you stated it a long time ago does not make it accurate or something that needs to be repeated continuously.

Mazulla isn't focusing on the Finals being coached by 2 Black coaches. That is what he was trying to get across. And that was his authenticity.

Vinny it wasnt a great question knowing who you were speaking to.

That's the thing with the Finals, broader media comes in with preset expectations and don't take the time to research what they are covering. Any Celtics fan who has followed psycho Joe's press conference knows he tends to give insane and curt replies.

Yeah when they asked him about the royal family he responded the same way. Joe is a christian and will always lead with that foot. His response was no surprise…and i hate how vinny acts like boston is KKK head quaters, its getting old. Let me see him go to dorchester and tell how white it is, theres more to boston than the area where the celtics play

Dumb question AND Smart answer from Mazzulla

@@raulvasquez6957 wouldnt say smart it was an empty answer which is part of Vinny’s issue with it. I think I know where Mazulla was getting at though

After I heard Vinnys comments, I went and read his article, and I believe it explains and encapsulated exactly why boston fans dislike the conversation about race and the Boston celtics. Because like Vinny, there is always an insistence upon being either woefully misinformed or intentionally disingenuous. I believe Vinny is disingenuous in his article and statements. Discussing Black HCs in the NBA and Boston, only to leave out that Bill was the first, the Celtics were the first team in professional sports to make a black man, a civil rights leader at that, head coach. Speaking of Bill, Vinny mentions the poor treatment he got during the mid 60s during both his playing days and the Civil rights movement in a suburb in the Boston area, fails to mention how the Team or Franchise treated him. Because it doesn't match the narrative that Vinny wants to portray. During this stretch, immediately before Bill, Boston breaks the NBA color barrier, followed by breaking every single barrier to a black man in the NBA save exactly 3. Scheduling allowed Nat Sweetwater to take the floor before Chuck Cooper, African American owner and gm were also broken by other teams. To Date, the Boston Celtics is the only team to boycott a game, Bill, KC and the rest did so because of Jim crow laws. Of the 6 black Head coaches to win a finals, 3 were the head coaches of the Boston Celtics, Bill Russell, KC Jones, and Doc Rivers. Soon number 7 will Be Joe Mazzula. The Reason Joe avoided your question is most likely because, throughout his tenure at Boston, this has always been the topic when this team is successful, and it is always disingenuous. This conversation always lacks nuance and information, to paint the most Socially progressive team in sport history as a monster. And it's not discussed about the other Boston teams, some with very very clear bad history like the Soxs. I'm disappointed in Vinny and his blatant disregard and disrespect to a franchise that has played such an active role in black history. Have the other half of that conversation.

That was all very well said and i would say mostly factual, doesnt change the FACT that if you hear the N WORD being shouted at a player in MLB/NBA/NFL/NHL-8 out of 10 times its guess who??? BOSTON FANS. Ive been to ball parks all over the country and fans in Boston are just more comfortable saying racist sh!t in PUBLIC then most
@JulianMurphy-zd2kp
@JulianMurphy-zd2kp 9 дней назад
@@travissmith6380 Well, I hate conversations with blanket statements with no backing. In the last 4 years alone, sun's owner banned for use of the N-word, this finals, Tyrese Halliburton reported racial slurs against his brother in game one of the playoffs, ja Morants father reported called slurs by 3 separate jazz fans, etc. And agian, insisting Boston Celtics is somehow racist is disingenuous. Did we forget what happened to LeBron home IN LA during the BLM movement? What was painted on his home? This paint brush narrative is non contextual, and always with this "we all know such and such" with zero actual backing that it is any worse than any other area of the country. This Nation has a racism issue. That's facts. Why is the single most progressive franchise in sports targeted with this brush?
@JulianMurphy-zd2kp
@JulianMurphy-zd2kp 9 дней назад
@@travissmith6380 also, I'm straight up going to challenge your open ended statement of "mostly Factual". Facts are facts, if I am wrong somewhere, say it with your chest. But if you coming at me like that, best come correct.

@JulianMurphy-zd2kp you really need examples of racism in Boston sports just go to youtube. probably one of the reasons Boston never gets black FREE ANGENTS in Any sport. not a trade, or drafting someone. A flat out free agent. I get it your a white dude from Boston who wants to defend THE TOWN but it is what it is
@JulianMurphy-zd2kp
@JulianMurphy-zd2kp 9 дней назад
@@travissmith6380 See, here is the difference, one of us actually researched this. Because I do not like misinformation. Go back and read Bill Russell's books, Go look at interviews of KG, Cedric Maxwell, Paul Pierce, all of our former players and their experience. And they discuss the Narrative spread around the NBA by everyone But current and former celtics players. Cedric even discusses where it started. 1980 with Bird, then McHale, Ange and Bill Walton for a bit. The Narrative became Boston was racist for having a white team. Ignoring Johnson, Maxwell and the rest or that KC Jones was the head coach or that LA was OPENLY and Aggressively racist. (Rodney king, the NWA entire story, Oakland riots, militarized police etc. Hell, LA gave us the man who put the US back 30 years in racial equality in Ronald Reagan. Look at Wilts experience in Golden State, Oscar's history in Milwaukee, along with Kareems. Why does it all get pointed at Boston? Probably because of the whole Bird v Magic thing. And you can't fault bird because he was proactive in trying to remove himself from the great white hope conversation. Boston Celtics are racist conversation is nothing more than cheap, undefined innuendo, and vague assumptions passed off as fact. Every major city has racial issues. Indiana still has son down downs to this day. I challenged you to come with facts. Defined facts that are more than one of cases of just another Tuesday in the black American experience. Consistent occurrences, players describing some unique experience to Boston, and no one ever finds any. Notice how you failed to respond to the other, immediate occurrences.

As far as Clark, the entire WNBA was snubbed, She is only reason anyone is talking. The US lost a gigantic opportunity for marketing, who cares if she is not “good enough”, lol biggest joke ever, you could put the college girls out there and still win the gold. This is just the leaders on the team hating on Clark. This is the Isaiah Thomas effect.

Isaiah was a 2x NBA Champion, Finals MVP, and an 11x NBA Allstar before being snubbed for the 1992 Olympics. You don’t know what the hell you are talking about. Clark wasn’t snubbed. The truth is that she isn’t good enough, yet.

To be fair they've not had home court in any of these series and they are a 5 seed in a stacked western conference. Picking against them is blasphemy, but if you ve been picking against them every series and finally they lost two road games don't say "I told you so, I told yold" . I do have to say there was a lot of "mavs in 4, mavs in 5, mavs in 6 talk going into the finals.

Asking about the relevance of 2 black coaches in a league that has very few isn't racist. You don't cure racism by not talking about race. You just stop being racist, like pretending to be a minority on the interwebs.
