the first thing is just Chris being Chris and it's often funny as hell but the second thing is actually crucial because giving the player just that tiny bit of choice can make a game a lot better but no! as with most horror game walking simulators we were lead around on a rail and as Chris comments at some point we should even be able to at least just climb over that very low graveyard wall and leave
Nope. No security guard gig at a demon-dominated cemetary for me. Father Creepy can take his job and go straight to "the Hell." 👀😆 Pretty effective atmosphere. Too bad the game was strictly linear--some good ol' CJU exploration would've added to the spookiness. Still, it was an enjoyable 55-minute watch. Thanks, Chris.
There was too much linear guiding. I think some wandering on the graveyard with unexpected events would work better but overall I liked this idea. They should revitalize it in future!
I swear, Chris can make any horror game actually relaxing to watch 😂 I’ve just been wrapping myself in a warm blanket and would wind down to watch them at night
When I did security years ago they asked for a volunteer for a site, our city cemetery overnight, specifically for HALLOWEEN since some people want to cause mischief. It was, interesting, I am sure people were sneaking about, maybe it was imagination, I didn't mind it really overall, it's located beside a mountain and I did get a little spooked thinking I saw something just before sunrise but it just turned out to bee some Deer that came off the mountain lol. I'd have done it again given the opportunity because for the most part, it was quiet and peaceful.
The Engrish was strong in this one. I often wonder why these indie devs don't rely on a native speaker to translate for them, or even use an online translator.....or both. It really would bring a much better experience to the game. Overall though, it wasnt too terribly bad and some of the jump scares worked. It would be refreshing to NOT have the tropes pay off immediately in favor of subverted scares.
That was a little rough around the edge but it was enjoyable! I would've LOVED a different ending- it started with us driving the car up to the entrance gate, and now imagine how cool it would be if the game looped at the end! You drive away, you think you've escaped - and then the entrance gate comes into view again and the game starts anew. I would've preferred that almost over the actual ending we got 😅😂 anyways, I enjoyed it, it was fairly entertaining. Thank you for playing!!!
"The lock has been changed!" Who would do such a thing? Me, seeing the S symbol on it: "Superman!" :D (probably Satan more likely but... first thoughts ya know?)
Talk about "so bad it's good" ^^ Between the broken English, mediocre voice acting, and mention of the dead "Ghost rock band" (I'm sure that'd make them laugh), I can't choose what was the most cheesy aspect of this thing. But the game does look good (when you can see something). As always, Chris' commentary tremendously elevated this poor material, making this quite an entertaining hour !
yes and the unusually mundane door leading into the ancient and beautifully decorated chapel was also a sign of pure slav jank personally i believe the most cheesy aspect was that the player wasn't at any point given a single choice and were instead lead around like on a rail this was just another horror game walking simulator
The translations were super rough. But the story and the jump scares and such were creepy and fun. I laughed with the skeleton in the wheelchair and creepy Jesus behind him. Overall not a bad game!
I've gotta admit, as someone who nearly cored a job as a gravedigger a few years back (my therapist actually said it was perfect for me), I'm rather disappointed in this one. Graveyard horror needs to be a lot more open-ended, allowing the player to actually roam the cemetery and encounter things at their own pace.Sure, the security cam aspect has its merits, but by now that mechanic's as overdone as a Christmas ham left in the oven all weekend. Basing so much of the game on viewing the camera, then requiring the player to follow the rails was a terrible call. If you have to do Observation Duty in a graveyard, at least make events random and allow players to spot the anomalies on their own (ramping up the horror when they fail to address one). But there should also have been a few random encounters or easter eggs that didn't rely on the cameras. One thing I will agree on, though, is they did a good job overall with atmosphere. Make things more open, rely less on a camera mechanic and forcing the player onto rails, and add some randomness to the game, and this could be really good. For referfence, I'd have to say Mortuary Assistant is a perfect example of what this game could have been.
Yeah, if the graveyard had been bigger with more roaming, exploring and slow buildup of tension during normal tasks this would've worked better, methinks. The graveyard looked great aesthetically IMO.
I just completed A Plague Tale Requiem and you should finish your play through. If you think Plague Tale Innocence got you in the feels, Requiem is a whole new level, plus in terms of side characters Arnaud the aging knight would quickly become one of your favourite characters.
It is an interesting one despite its flaws, but fun. Love how spirits say to help them but not giving ibstructions and you messing it up. One hell of a first nightshift😂. Also Chris you driving left in the end mostly like a true English man 😂, no wonder you crashed😊. Game did look good for the atmosphere and such. Would have like a bit more story maybe about Elias. But it worked for a fun play through over all.
Thanks, mate. A creepy horror game before sleep. All the lights are off and enjoyed the gameplay of yours. Well played. Maybe it wasn’t that scary but enjoyed it. 😊
This was another excellent one, and well played by you! Even though some of the sentence structure from the reading took it out for me a bit, I was really loving the environment and the dark and haunting imagery of this!
Sounded like a late teen doing a Palpatine impression. Which, I assume, is exactly the voice actor. Not the best choice for a middle-aged priest for sure.
Thanks for another interesting horror game! I actually thought this would be like the Mortuary Assistant where the protagonist has a chance to survive and continue with another procedurally generated shift, but look like this first shift is his very last.
one of these days, some game studio will see your videos with always trying to do first the smart thing, to leave immediately and not go trough the horrors and im sure they will be like.. Hmm, lets make one secret bonus final ending for fun. A player will be able to complete the game immediately right at the start of the game, just be leaving lol. I can already imagine SJUs big smile trough the entire game video coz of it.
Beside the grammatical issues and voice acting its actually a pretty good game, I love watching your playthrough of it from time to time, And I only watch you CJU!!!!
" 'I'll go check the crying' *No you fucking won't*" thank you for that beautiful quote, CJU. But yeah, you're right on the money with your comments, I think! It's very rough in various areas - some cliches, lots of noticeable repetition, the grammar - but it did have a fun little idea at the core of it, and there were some good jumpscares in there.
Watching this because I work security and I work the Graveyard shift. Though not at an actual cemetery. The bed is completely out of place. No client wants security sleeping on the job during their shift. But, enjoyed the game-play video. 🪦⚰️
Gotta say, because the graphics are actually quite good, I do sort of miss the complete lack of mouth movements. It's actually far easier to ignore that when the entire game is intentionally made to look like it's from the N64 or PS1 era. With graphics like these, _some_ sort of movement would've been appreciated.
This game is remarkably beautiful and overall it's a decent game, despite a couple cheap jumpscares. The car alarm part, though... it makes absolutely no sense. That "tool" is *a riveter.* You can't cut a wire with a riveter. Riveters don't cut. They don't have any blades. They're meant for pushing rivets (sort of like nails) into things. They probably called it "tool" because they had no clue what it even is. It just seems lazy. I can't think of a good reason why they didn't just use scissors in place of the riveter. Also, you can't possibly open an engine hood without the car keys. And the car keys would've been available to the worker, too.
20:51 I feel like there was someone yelling under him talking at this part … sounded similar to the scream right before it .. there ain’t no way I wouldn’t be leaving that job right then and there lmao hell no!!! I just can’t with cemetery’s man
Another entertaining gameplay!!! It is just interesting that Chris subconciously drove on the Left lane on a left hand drive car.... Ahahahahaha! ;) shows where he is from ahahahaha.... Happy Holidays!
Very good atmosphere, it be cool as a full game with a city size cemetery with the undead digging out of the ground and you having to get out a live using melee weapons like a steel pipe or crafting a good melee weapon of some type and using a maze type area fenced in in map size to safe points.
At 5:09 when the guy says they had to store the bodies of ghost rock group there really is a rock band called ghost they are swedish they're really good ❤
I was cracking up when he’s reading the names of the people in the crypts inside of the mausoleum 34 min in, and someone peeked out from around the corner then slowly went back😂😂😂
I love the atmosphere, the level of light, fog, sound design, and general creepiness was very good. The cityscape in the background was neat too, felt more like a real place than just some place in a void. The textures and overall appearance of the models were good as well. Definitely some nitpicks though. The cemetery looks very dilapidated and uncared for when we are told there are important people buried there (grass/weeds everywhere, trees branches in the path, etc), the security camera that we are supposedly looking through can be seen at 49:19, and the tool that was picked up to deal with the car alarm appears to be for placing rivets, not a cutter in any way. Why are we cutting the cable to the battery? Do we want the car to be hard to fix? I honestly don't mind the grammar issues as much, I think I've experienced them enough to not care as much about those. Game is a bit rough, but honestly not bad. I enjoyed the game, definitely shows a lot of promise with a bit more work.
Long shot but does anyone remember a demo of a game CJ played years ago, that was a first person horror adventure game that ended with a jump scare of a man with an axe or something on the other side of a window in a door? I remember thinking at the time that it was really polished and looked cool, but I can't remember the name or find it. I wanted to see if it had come out.
Hi CJ, I’m a new subscriber and ❤️ your gameplay!!🥰🥰🥰One thing for certain you make me laugh!!😂😂😂 I would ❤️ to see you play Endless Surburbia’. I was completely surprised-it’s a short game straight forward and has good jump scares!!
Align keeps going through my head. “Well, things could be worse. “”How could things possibly get worse? “”Could be raining. “No just waiting for the rain storm.
this was pretty good, yes janky in some places, but pretty good, and alot better than some other indie games out there, so i see hope for the dev. for sure😊😊
waited for this better entertainment than horror movies cant wait for him to play a remake of Evil Nun: The Broken Mask at least t think its based on the evil nun from those old slasher type game series.
