It is so Ren to do this LOL And I bet he's having the time of his life watching ppl search for these Easter eggs and discovering the whole story exactly how he created it... Elementary my dear Watson, you may find yourself inside the mind of the illest of our time :D
I’m not surprised he bleeped it out. People lost their shit when he played Tom Jones on a live stream, accusing him of supporting misogyny. Yet people objectify him, his looks, and his body on the daily, and he takes it with a sense of humor. I’d like to think we can all just enjoy the music and appreciate the research that went into creating it, without getting offended or triggered. 🙂❤
Ren himself shouted out “ Cougar” love to me on Mother’s Day on a funny comment I made. People are so ridiculously triggered over words…. And that people think he should hide who he is or his opinion. It’s his platform, his music. They can always scroll, unsub. Freedom of speech … it’s eroding everyday
@@rachelcarter5282 "They say proudly through gritted teeth It's my right to hate, that's freedom of speech! But when did freedom become a reason to hate?" -Literally Ren himself
lol remember, he also made a video on “being more controversial” in his music. This is hilarious that he’s right about controversy on such an innocuous word. He’s cheeky. 😂😂😂
Now everything comes full circle again. We are in full money game ARG mode. And that was also THE first thought when I happen to be made aware of that circumstance. I was also kind of thinking: Maybe it is a setup for the next ARG already. If so, we already solved a part of it. :D But in any case, it heavily reminded me of it. And I love it. Ren just took this comment thread and the comments and incorporated it into the song. Hilarious. Nobody would think about something like this. But he did.
Thanks RikaShae, great breakdown. I can see where the feminist line could be construed as offensive; namely feminists are just complainers, as opposed to actually accomplishing some very important rights for women. From Wikipedia: The feminist movement, also known as the women's movement, refers to a series of social movements and political campaigns for radical and liberal reforms on women's issues created by the inequality between men and women.[1] Such issues are women's liberation, reproductive rights, domestic violence, maternity leave, equal pay, women's suffrage, sexual harassment, and sexual violence. The movement's priorities have expanded since its beginning in the 1800s, and vary among nations and communities. Priorities range from opposition to female genital mutilation in one country, to opposition to the glass ceiling in another.
Now you see death threats to feminists from the trans lobby. Insane women have to fight for their rights all over again, so girls don't have to lose scholarships and sports. As well as not having to get undressed in Front of men dressed as women. Remember that recent usa court case....
Ren also has issues around labels, and the way various labels divide us, which he's opposed to. He took a very divisive label--that of Feminist--and then erased it in an obvious manner from his own track... providing, intentionally or otherwise, another layer of contemplation about the social hierarchies we find ourselves in, and how we relate to them... especially in a time when we are reevaluating society's concepts of gender (and gender equity) as a whole.
Wait, “feminist” is divisive? Who doesn’t agree with equality? Are we back in the 1970s when women’s lib was seen as controversial? Is that what “back on 74” was really about, going back to when people thought standing up for equality was “dangerous”? 😂
❤ Ty 4 clearing that up. Personally I don't fond it offensive A true Feminist shouldn't find it offensive either. People should stop blowing shit outta proportion 🎉
Thanks for the breakdown. Ren is a huge supporter of Chinchilla, and she is all about women empowerment. So that's why i dont think it's his real opinion on the subject of feminism.
And also wants to collab with Tash Sultana. A person who identifies themself as gender-fluid. So no change he thinks negative about the general idea of feminism and inclusivity in general.
He’s been battling a misogynist on Threads the past few days. I think he just used the line and censored the word to set up a riddle and drive more views to Nas’ video, bc that’s the first place we would check to solve the question he set up by censoring a word. I don’t think he stands behind that line.
@@kellyt5341 yeh in the uk back in the day we were taught sticks and stones nursery rhymes when we were 5, I think they've stopped teaching it somewhere along the road 🤣🤣
Ren's brain hurts my brain. I love this whole thing. I think it's a bit over a 50% chance that this was what he meant by controversy. His brain is different. I'm I wondering if many hip hop artists go to this level. So many twists and turns. It really reminds me of MG. The collective working together to solve the puzzle of this track. I also don't think it's a coincidence that the Big L track has a Michael Jordan and Craig Elo bar. I say it's a double. Both are true. You can hear the twist in his articulation. It sounds like both. Another twist in his articulation is how he say Pac, it sounds like Pat as in Pat Stay a Canadian rapper who died. It sounds like a double too. In another note, his song Penitence, that I just listened to again yesterday, has the lyric Pi in it. That may be in the rabbit hole somewhere. I think that makes 11 references to his other lyrics in this track.
You’ve been diligent in the research, and we’ve talked about it a lot in these threads, the pat stay one would be dope if it was in fact because I loved Pat
Also Nas has a word bleeped out at about 2:05 mark in halftime, so the fact he chose to have a line that bleeped a word out is also a bit of an Easter egg link to Nas Halftime in and of itself
The line is too on point as proven by the people complaining in the rabbit hole.😂 when I was in the military we ran across some protesters that called us every name in the book filled with so much hate just for wearing a uniform. We just tipped our cap and said yes ma’am. But they were offended by our mere presence. I can’t worry about offending someone that’s always offended.
I am a feminist and i dont think its offensive at all. Corse ive been thru the 60's so, not much offended us in those days. Lol, we were usually too stoned to care. Much love and crazy about ren. Peace
You what funny, I just thought of it. Ren making the posts about how to get big was by causing Controversy. The one word that seems to be the most controversial he bleeps out. 🤣🤣 I love him. He cracks me up. Than leave it to the Rabbit hole to be like we will figure it out. BAMN let it begin.
It's only a funny line if you think feminists are complainers. We are not. And yes, it is offensive. (Wait, were those statements complaints?) The line suggests that women who object to -- well, being objectified -- are complaining and that is very offensive to me. IT'S ALSO A VERY FUNNY LINE. It can be both things at once. I, for one, appreciate it being bleeped out. It's like a wink. "I know I'm a hip-hop artist and hip-hop has traditionally been one of the most misogynistic music genres, but I love women in a non-patronizing, truly inclusive and respectful way. So I'm gonna' kind of insult feminists in a non-patronizing, inclusive and respectful way AND THAT'S FUNNY." He's the only man on earth who could do this and make me love him even more.
Well said. And I also think it’s not correct to lump all “feminists” into the same category. There are those making a difference, and those who give real feminists a bad name
Further down on that same list of comments Ren used for his lyrics someone else commented: "@PureColumbianCocainum1949 (2 years ago) A karen with even less of a reason to complain" So I'm not 100% convinced you're wrong.
Not that I know of. My guess is he will continue to censor one word per video for the rest of 2024 and when those words are deciphered and strung together it will be the secret to eternal life, or a really good recipe for Welsh Onion Cakes. @@5siggi
Thanks RikaShae. I don't know why this is a big deal either. If you listen to Nas, Half time, at about the 2:05 mark, they 'distorted' a word as well. Not sure if that was for radio or "MTV" play back in the day and that's what made it to RU-vid? If you look up the full lyrics, you can see what that word is. Just saying. It is what it is.
Oh wow! Big thanks Shae👍🏻 I really appreciate the love and respect you give Ren! I couldn’t agree with you more on our buddy’s integrity…and from a grown ass women’s perspective, I personally take no issue with the feminist line🤷♀️ Either way let the journey continue…
Feminist is NOT an offensive word - using it within this context is. We’ll probably never know whether it was Ren’s plan from the start to censor the word for controversial/artistic reasons or whether it was a decision made after some discussion among his people.
@@RikaShae Another part of the puzzle is the video I posted on my channel that originally was posted on instagram from none other than connor. Which I found curious.
@@Hexenkind1I find it interesting he chose this to be blocked out. If people understand it’s from comments of the original video, then so be it. People shouldn’t have to rely on the surface level of everything, especially in Ren’s songs.
Hey man, thanks for this! My comment section brought me here. I had no idea what the word was when I reacted to it, so great breakdown and thanks for sharing. That is without a doubt what the word is. Shout out to everyone that figured this out. Much love. 🙌🏽
Respect to you RikaShae You have to be amongst the most genuine reactors, I feel Like you care about your content not your “online persona) I respect that and it makes me think carefully about what you say, I appreciate your opinions man. Much love from Australia Take care bro Daz
You sir are a detective and a half. Your MG3 info was always spot on as well. Including your knowing when and when not to post the info. Thank you again for your reviews and reactions and reveals.
Awesome breakdown. I know this word had been theorized before and there were some who were upset about it. Doesn't bother me, but I know Ren's not anti-women or anything.
Further down on that same list of comments Ren used for his lyrics someone else commented: "@PureColumbianCocainum1949 (2 years ago) A karen with even less of a reason to complain" So I'm not 100% convinced you're wrong.
@@jeanwye I agree with you. REN’s lyrics are not hateful speech by any stretch of the imagination. However the fact that Canada, even have an objective law on subjective opinion in section 13 is peak Orwellian.
The real point being missed is that in many places feminists still have a lot to complain about, and maaaaybe Ren actually honoured that by bleeping it.🤷♀️ Tricky;)
That’s what I think about, or that they are complaining and no o e is listening, but again, Ren didn’t write the line, he just picked it and put his own spin on it IMO
@@RikaShaeY'all stay solving shit like the Money Game but I didn't know this was something that had to be solved, just heard about it today lol I think we're close to the same age so you might remember the Hot Boyz the group Lil Wayne was with before he blew but they would censor words for no reason just to mess with ppl lol but it became a thing with them, Juvenile was with them but if you know what I'm talking about then you will get it.
@@RikaShae Yup, those days. I can't remember exactly what songs they did the censor thing on but we know Ren knows hip hop so I thought he might of been doing it to mess with ppl like they did because he loves doing shit like that. Lol
Yeah it’s not the worst feminist, it’s invalidating the feelings of people (men can be feminists too) who speak on problems that affect and are centered on the equality of women. And it’s genius. He’s such a smart writer
@@RikaShae the individual people of any “movement” tend to be extreme - that’s what makes them notable enough to report in the news. I think that’s true with everything. I think it can be a mistake to even engage with the people, and instead the ideas on their face. That’s what makes “feminists” so complainy- those that label themselves can be more in the end of the extreme part of the spectrum. It’s hard enough to do social commentary and humor from a position of equality, but he’s really so skilled at it.
Thank's for the update. I was wondering if this would just go down as another one of lifes mysteries. The most popular idea for the blank I had seen was "f'in Karen" which is pretty close. Can't say anymore as when I read back what I wrote I realise any jokes about the new feminists with 🧔♀is likely to rub someone up and down the wrong way.
I had someone show me those screen shots with the comments and knew it was feminist, but people didn't want to believe it. And I didn't have the time or will to worry about it. But it was good you put this out there for everyone to see. Thanks, Shae!
Is it the word that is offensive or the context in which it is used? I know what I think and I am glad he bleeped it out while still appreciating the level of detail of the synchronicity with the NAS bleep.🦇
@seagull01-cp8pb I suppose it could be both depending on what someone believes the definition to be. At this point, most people listening to Ren know he has no ill intentions, and he took the step to show that and blurred the word. I think people who are still offended by the line being in his retake (blurred and all) should maybe take some time to reflect upon themselves to figure out why that truly bothered them so much. Tbh, I initially thought the blurred word was c*nt, and I still wasn't offended (most likely because it was blurred). I figured it was some sort of call back to that time (i was a teen), and he blurred it for obvious reasons. There are women who call themselves feminist who do nothing but berate men and put them down. If someone called me a feminist and meant that? I'd be pissed. Linguistic fuckery has made it so people's understanding of a word's meaning could all be different. I suppose that may be intentional, unfortunately.
For the censored word, he said, "I couldn't think of a word that rhymed," as in he wrote it, but that whole section he didn't write? Hmm, he does like to play mind games with us, huh?
I would guess that he did not actually say the word, but since that was the word in the line he bleeped it out as IF he did say it. Ren is too meticulous for that to be an after the fact decision.
I’m not sure. I could see him writing it, thinking it’s a funny line, showing his friends, and someone saying, yo that might piss off some people. Then they bleep it, he starts a controversial campaign against Iceland to get us riled up once there’s a bleeped word 🤣
Thanks for the research on this! A large part of Ren's character is being 'tongue in cheek', he even says so in the lyrics, and I'm hoping he didn't come under pressure to blank it out. RIcky Gervais always talks about not confusing the object of a joke with the subject and it takes a certain level of intelligence (which we should all credit Ren with having) to understand the difference. The object here is 'people who take themselves too seriously'. The subject in this instance might be feminists but could just as easily be replaced by a whole range of other 'groups' within society who may be perceived as taking themselves too seriously. The joke would still work. If people confuse this with being anti-feminist then they've missed the point. Maybe it was blurred out so people could fill in the blank for themselves, as I'm sure everyone can identify some sections of society they consider believe themselves to be above ridicule. If we don't allow humour to be universally applicable then we'll continue to "polarise the people" and controversy will continue to be the game...
One of Rens pages (maybe ren not ren) mentioned that not only was the word feminist but also that nas bleeped out a word at the same time stamp in his song so part of the reason for the bleep was just paying more respect I haven’t double checked the time stamps though
Nowadays...people get offended by anything and everything. It was a salute to NAS. In the 2nd verse Ren did say that the beat was Nas and Ren couldn't reach the same level, that why he salutes with BARS.
Ren made a short video on his second channel to explain why he bleeped the word. It wasn't only because it would be a controversial statement, it was because he wanted people to think he was being controversial! By leaving the word in it might have been lost in the flow, but by bleeping it he makes it into a thing. But also, no-one can prove that he used any particular word!
I think this is probably right (I thought it might be karen) but it is worth noting in the halftime video on youtube there is a censored word starting with f and its not the one you'd think lol. it was a tribute to that in some fashion. Ren did say he wanted to be more controversial tho and I think he was probably telling the truth there.
Interesting when I saw this a recently, but not 100% convinced Just because there is a comment made years ago that is very similar to the line, it doesn't necessarily mean it was Ren's intention. Could be interpreted many different ways why the word was censored and what the word was. Maybe it was actually feminist that was on his mind, but until any official confirmation...I just don't know... Couldn't it also be the case that Ren saw that comment and realized that many different people would, and do, say the same phrase or similar with "feminist" substituted with...whatever? 🤔
@@RikaShae first one was 4 years ago unless I am missing something. But that and the fact that it was repeated has little to do with my point. I too don't think it is offensive in any way really...kinda funny actually...so why censor it? 🤔
I'm unsure when Andrew found it, the RU-vid channel "Ren Not Ren" found the lines 4 days ago. Also "feminist" isn't an offensive word. It's the implication that a defining feature of being one is to complain.
The next puzzle to crack is 'why is Ren being offensive' in his shorts.. ie, picking on an Icelandic town, and just being extra weird? As Renegades know, Ren posts nothing without a reason
@@RikaShaeThat's true. It is sad; they shouldn't even be called feminist though because that's not what they really are. They don't want equality, they want special treatment.
I didn't know there was a whole theory behind it, but English/Wlesh accent, it actually fits easily. Still think you're likely right. I think Ren is a feminist too. Just pre-woke weird everyone lost their goddamn minds version like most of us.@@RikaShae
