I'm a bit more butthurt that TJ ain't coming back. Larry was both goofy and scary a perfect fit for dead rising 1. He looked like he wouldn't hurt a fly but also would destroy you and say, "did I do that?"
@GlennGrim I only wonder I see they redesigned her dress in one of the screen shots to be lil less revealing and knowing how they censored re4 in the vr release because of the modern times just wouldn't be surprised
Yeah and how are you supposed to do Kent's mission requirements with Jessie when you would take a pic of her cleavage and up skirt to go the the final part of his mission
I think they should keep him. The entire game is a sterotype about american consumerism. Talking about how americans are fat, greedy, eat alot, and just want more. And then they take out a small boss that had a lot of charm and replace it with a boring guy
I see why it would annoy you. I think its a bit concerning considering it's a satirical game. Seems nothing can go untouched by changes now. Also want to point out that people making the "it will benefit the story because of American consumerism" argument is really weird. News flash: Asian people can also be American.
They turned Larry into Peter griffin and the chicken man from Toy Story 2 🤣 Also yeah I agree he’ll even now I didn’t pick up on it before the remake of DRDR
Imagine being surprised. We also didnt see Kent in the trailer, so I think he will be replaced too considering his "quest" involving Jessica might not suit the masses.
Maybe they'll change the quest to take a picture of a survivor in danger. Which could lead to Kent wanting to take a picture of someone going into zombiehood.
What bugs me the most is few of these Psychopaths in the trailer just don’t look as unhinged and threatening enough like the original. Even the store guy Has got a totally different look
@cammy8580 Larry is such a small characters it doesn't really improve the story. Sure you can argue it makes Carlito's death slightly more ironic but it was already ironic to begin with, making Larry White doesn't change the narrative. After RE 4 remakes lines censoring "out of touch" comments about women it's clear why Capcom did it.
@cammy8580 I've seen your other comments about the change making it more "ironic". It's a bad argument because it implies that only white people are seen as American. Which isn't true.
Covid-19 would be a better guess, since the leading theory behind the outbreak is that it spread from the Wuhan Institute of Virology to the local wet market.
I said "Larry Censorship" as soon as i saw the redesign during Capcoms stream. Its not a huge deal but i do find it kind of lame to alter his character like this.
no, there is absolutely no justification for changing Larry. ignore all the soft, brainwashed people in the comments. they don't get it, and they never will. the slippery slope is very real. keep letting them get away with stuff like this, and you can expect them to censor more and more things in future games.
Finally some real normal person, it sickens me how these people write that changing guys nationality is "small change" and that it doesnt bother them because Larry is late in game but still its bad decision. Same how they nerfed Jessica or changed Isabella to look completely different, she aint looking like Carlito even though they are twins. The fact people with straight face, honestly, tell you that these changes are OK shows how 1984 was right, just slowly but surely keep numbing people and X years later, they will follow.
@@isawedthedemons 4chan speculations, that I meant with the talk, they did that with Dragons Dogma and Street Fighter and with RE4 remake. Stuff that was in base game before is now DLC.
The biggest change in this game is Larry's design other than that there's really no other changes this is basically a 1 for 1 remake with very minor changes if not really any at all besides Frank's look but if you're unhappy with Frank's look then you have the option to switch to his original look so if they're giving you the option then you can't complain
Why would Cheryls outfit need to be changed? I wouldn't be surprised if they censor other erotic content that was in the original game. Could it even be called deluxe if they remove original character designs or animations? Then again they're making this game for modern gamers 😐. The game looks great. I just wish they wouldn't alter the appearance of certain characters just because it might be offensive for todays defense audience.
@@andrewromero6913 Why should I? I have the original game, I dont need pretty graphics and pc culture in my game. Capcom is too lazy to fix Off the Record bugs, cant add Case Zero and Case West on PC and to this day didnt fix Dead Rising 3 on PC.
In my opinión , i am interested in new idea because that boss like originally was i never liked it AND i felt bad for killing him with those last scream of him. Maybe they want to introduce new concept like a crazy American butcher. Is like the idea of lunátic chef of dead rising 2.
Dead Rising 1 had all sad psychopaths. Either people too obsessed with their job to stop doing it or mentally deficient. Really the only psychos that seem like an actual direct threat to you is the cultists and the prison escapees. The rest sorta mind their business in their own little world until you come storming in
Let's not forget that they also censored some of the women's tops. I get the feeling "Erotica" will no longer be a part of the game's scoring system which will be a shame if gone.
Which is funny considering it was the category that give you most prestige points, was easiest to obtain in large xp numbers, had 3 characters connected to it (Jessica, Kent, Cheryl) and had joke with Janet.
i don't like censorship , and understand why they did it because you can't risk not selling the game to china because they sensitive af n block ur game, i would rather have old larry back, but i also feel this fits more in a weird way, Carlito ironicly dies to a fat american, which makes it more ironic in a way, while Carlito was bleeding from brad's gunshot, the meat hook on carlito def was the final nail in the coffin.
How is the online for DR2? Is it still alive or is only pc port empty? I swear I cant get anyone to match with on pc, but my friend on console can find people. Is it regional thing? Because I never had chance to ask someone else who owns ps4 port if its cross matchmaking or region.
@@senorjackconnerartistmorri8989 You and me both, Larry was still chinese, Jessica had ballistics, Cheryl looked awesome and Frank looked like actual normal guy.
isn't it obvious? it's to better make carlito's point his people died so america could have better meat production to feed all the hungry, greedy slobs, what better way to showcase that then to make the butcher a big fat american who's willing to kill a living person for meat without a care in the world
Good catch. Sorry to say I’m not surprised in this day and age, as useless DEI consulting is a thing that’s heavily pushed in every major game now. Even though these people obviously have no self awareness or talent whatsoever.
Do you know what should actually be the talk 😅 the two Japanese survivors that you have to pick up the book to translate 😂 the dialogue subtitles is so Frank West though 😅
@@ExtremeMan10 His race had no effect on what I thought of the fight. Just the size of him matters to me. And he still looks huge which is good. I’d say yes, changing something to make it less offensive is stupid. It was never offensive in the first place. Like that whole Miranda fiasco with the mass effect remasters. But, like the Miranda thing, it’s not a change that will have a negative impact on the story. Larry was a super minor character.
@@MR.ICE. All psychpaths are meant to be a joke by developers of certain stereotypes taken to the extreme. Larry uses cleaver, has word "meat" on his back as tattoo in kanji, his moveset is all related to chinese butcher shops and one of his moves, his healing animation, has him eating from canned meat that is probably animal food. He also drops chinese related stuff in overtime mode. IF they changed his face, build or place in story? Fine. But they changed his whole nationality just so they can sell the game in China.
@@ExtremeMan10 You make some fair points but I don’t think it will hurt the games sales and if it makes it more accessible to a wider range of people, that’s more people introduced to dead rising. I also don’t think all psychopaths are meant to be a joke. Some are very tragic. Like Adam the Clown who watched his audience which consisted of children die and Cliff who lost his granddaughter to the zombies. Others are down right pure evil like Jo the cop, Sean or Brock. Some are jokes though. Although I think most of the psychopaths that are jokes came in the later games. I guess maybe Cletus could be considered a joke but even then, there was still a serious tone to him.
i bet they change lerry for selling the game at chinese market easier. chinese players are one of the bigger money makers. I can see why they did it tbh..
@@ExtremeMan10 Yes, exactly. Because in Mexico you have the freedom to use satire in a product like that and Vietnam dispite also being a dictatorship (like China) either isnt a big enough market for capcom to bother or they dont censor things related to the vietnamise people/culture as harsh as China. Probably only if you criticise their goverment. But China is a hole different story, they react super sensible to satire and criticism. They sensor the tiniest stuff in games. I think if i remember correctly, Counter Strike has their blood blue, because they fear censorship. And you cant risk not having your games in the chinese market. Its humongus! Its the only explanation i can come up with for them changing only the Bucher. But yeah, i find it stupid as well.
I'm not buying it. I did not ask for your self inserted politics because you got offended at an Asian character from a game that was made in JAPAN. If your remake isnt to the standard of Destroy All Humans I'm refusing to buy it.
Are the "self inserted politics" in the room with us? Dude's really getting mad that a game made in japan by Japanese people, that is getting remade in japan by Japanese people, is changing a characters design in a remake. This sounds like a _you_ problem.
Not sure what politics has to do with it man it doesn’t really change much from the game especially since Larry is straight up only in the game for like 3 minutes
Just because Larry doesn't have slanted eyes and an extremely yellow complexion, it doesn't necessarily mean that they race swapped him. He still looks Asian. Instead of jumping to conclusions and losing your minds over this, let's be rational and wait until more information comes out or until the game is released.
People love fake outrage😭! If people watched the trailer like I did , you’d clearly see he still Asian🤣 I wish I could post pictures in the comment section because people are absolutely brain dead sometimes
@@Nickabob45 You can. Assuming you're on a mac, just highlight the url to the browser tab at the top of the screen and press press command and "c" then go to a comment and press "command" and "v" and it'll work. ^_^
I wish I could post a picture in the comments, because if you watched the trailer he’s clearly still asian. I still wish it was the same design but idgaf, bro was in the game for like 5 minutes 🤣
It’s fine. Was Larry an offensive stereotype? Probably. But more importantly he was probably the most bland and weakest designed psychopath in the game. It don’t think improving things is to always mean it’s being censored.
So if NPC or character is bland, we change his entire nationality because why not lol. So by your logic we can turn Steven japanese because he is "minor" character, or turn Kent into woman, because also "minor" character? Funny isnt it.
@@ExtremeMan10 I didn’t say that. He may well still be Asian. I can’t really be sure from the very brief clip in the video. I just think he looks a lot more detailed and better designed regardless of anything else is all.
I feel like this is the type of “censorship” that people shouldn’t be getting mad over. Also I find it funny that people get angrier over stuff like this than actual censorship.
@@schorltourmaline4521 People grew detached it seems, like there are people who really say that changing characters entire nationality is "small" change.
This type of censorship is literally the kind that 1984 warns you about the most. Leads to doublethink and doublespeak. It's one thing to be able to remove the truth. Its another to have the truth be known but actively fought against.
This is a company changing how a character looks to avoid any backlash from portraying negative stereotypes (he still looks somewhat asian, and may be Chinese with a few changes.) Racist caricatures usually aren’t accepted anymore and haven’t been for a while, so this really isn’t anything new. It’s barely censorship at all. Things change to appeal to modern audiences. The real censorship you should be worrying about is the stuff that is being censored in the news or by the government. If you want to see real censorship, look at China, North Korea, and Russia. At the end of the day, this is a game and the creators can do whatever they want with it. You can still play the original with your uncensored Chinese butchers if you want.
@@ExtremeMan10 I mean I'm detatched about everything, but I was playing into the OPs viewpoint, not my own. Personally I think any remakes should be 1 to 1, with zero changes.
I think they made a right decision in my opinion, dont get me wrong the asian butcher guy is creepy but it can trigger asian hate but replacing with a cannibal texas chainsaw guy made more sense
Alright, but Carlito who is Mexican is ok? Or Cliff bragging about his role in Vietnamese war? Or Jo having other women as hostages when one of them implied Jo abused them? Entire Dead Rising is literally walking stereotype that makes South Park feel proud, if they removed every aspect that upset some nation the game couldnt exist at all.
The reason nobody is talking about this is because it doesn't need to be talked about. Every person with common sense saw the change and went "oh yeah, obviously"
Is it an American company remastering it? Because I don't think that the east gives a shit about political correctness. Maybe they changed it for themes
