Hey Mike. I’ve been a long time subscriber and love the videos. I’m a residential hvac service tech in se Ohio and we don’t have many boilers or steam in my market so I really love the videos about the systems that I never get to see. It been really cool to see how you run your business and your methods when troubleshooting. Your channel is Very entertaining and informative . I would love to have the thermal imager for all endless things I could use it for to make my job as a technician easier and more efficient when troubleshooting. With having a family of five I just never can justify the extra expense to my wife lol. Keep the videos commin. It’s videos like yours that help guys in the trade to keep learning and becoming better techs every day.

Good afternoon Mr. M. Pipes. First, I truly enjoy your channels' content, both educational and humorous. You've taught me a lot. I am a retired former maintenance mechanic for a factory for 40 years. The work ranged from electrical, plumbing, hvac and manufacturing equipment installation and repair. I also had to do a lot of programming forms in Excel for production records and in-house pc upkeep. Now, with time on my hands I help out a lot of local older folks to try to tighten up their homes and systems to save some money. Times are tough these days for folks on fixed incomes. I've been fortunate over my life and am trying to pay it forward, so to speak. A thermal imager would sure improve "guessing". So, that's my story and consider it my rationale. Also, I hired and unfortunately fired many folks over my career. Your "hunt" for workers is an all too familiar refrain. My observation is that finding candidates worth hiring is getting harder than ever before. May God bless you and yours, all of us and keep the USA safe from the trials and tribulations that the world is offering up. Jim from northwest NJ.

Dear Mikey Pipes, I eat ,sleep, and shower hvac Mikey pipes youtube videos. I have a massed an extraordinary amount of knowledge watching your video's and i have been able to apply your tutorials to help service a few elderly people being taken advantage of . It is because of you that i have expanded my hvac knowledge and its because of you that a sweet little old lady in Baldwin has a nice cool home to live out her retirement. Now god has not given me to much in life , but i hope to start collecting and purchasing my hvac tools just like daniel does every week, so i can help myself and others in my hvac journey. Just getting started in the trades down here in south Texas. Your videos have been a great motivator while going through school. You do a very good job showing that you can provide quality service for your customers while still having a bit of fun on the job. Tools such as this thermal imaging camera can be a great help pinpointing system issues and illustrating them to the client. As a transplant from the Northeast, I can definitely agree that the AC game is a lot different down here. But keep instilling the same drive that you have into your Florida team and you’ll be #1 in that market soon enough.

Mikey Pipes! I enjoy watching your videos so much. Have been following you for a while, supported you in your live streams, I was even one of those special ones to have had a magical wrench on your stream :P - I remember the first videos I watched you were working on boilers!! Cause I could not control my heat with my thermostat.. Then I understood there were zone valves thanks to you. When I called to get the landlord to fix it, I could specify that I suspected my valve to be shot XD And I was right! BOY OH BOY You have progressed very well since then. I have been getting more and more interest in HVAC - And it's always a pleasure to watch you in your trade, and with the occasional bonus content where you smelt copper. I work in IT, and a thermal camera would be so useful to help visualize bad cooling inside computers. Keep it up Mikey Pipes!

Hey Mikey pipes, I've been in the trade for about 3 and 1/2 years now (Air Force veteran stuck in retail management hell for a few years after I got out. Decided I wanted to do real actual meaningful work and got involved in the HVAC trade). As most people, I started out as an install helper but quickly worked my way over to the service side. I work for a small company and, unfortunately, don't get a lot of hands-on mentorship from my boss, so I have to rely on my own studies (just finnished my apprenticeship class), and watching you and various other HVAC RU-vidrs to help expand my knowledge in the trade. Thanks for the information and help that you've given me so far, look forward to learning more. Btw, can you even call yourself a tech if you haven't been zapped by a capacitor at least once? Lol

I'd say it's an non-bleed txv (hard shut off) meaning it will hold pressure and bleed very slowly. that's fine for a scroll with an discharge check valve and internal unloader, but a regular compressor would be starting against the load and draw large start currents (or fail to start). looks low on gas I guess, assuming it's 410a. txv is chooching trying to cool the evaporator, which may or may not be frozen or no air flow. I should watch further before guessing. lol *edit* yep, by 6:48 dead blower found. 😎

You have to check the amp draw with the door in place or you want get an accurate reading…I have seen amps be almost half before comparing door off vs on…

100% That fan needed the door closed and it was drawing high amperage also from overheating. It was fine after the capacitor was replaced. Zero reason to sell them a Bosch in this instance. Oh well, I guess.

and not also be clamped onto the wire and the metal box at the same time, that greatluy skews the reading not having jaws shut fully/touching. motor was a bad stinker anyway, since they didn't shut it off right away when it went southand first started to smell hot. it should have been emitting a hot smell while still running as cap slowly failed. oh well 😉

Liquid line restriction or bad txv I think. That’s some wild shit people don’t understand that preventive maintenance is so important and just expect these systems to last forever. Hahaha I could use that camera been wanting one forever. Long time subscriber life long fan!

It would be awesome to get a thermal imaging camera! Although I’m in the diesel/allison transmission trade industry I would like to see if you could find injector issues by inspecting the exhaust. Checking the coolant system for thermostat bypass. Wheel ends for bearing failures! Make the trades great!

Rebbe Pipes, I could use one of those for my real estate broker inspections to catch those greedy sellers who fail to disclose leaks, broken systems, and overall kaki. Also could use it during Maariv minyon to catch the guy who always blows heat seeking gassers.

I’d be happy to win that thermal imaging camera for work. I do commercial heating and cooling along with electrical. It would be useful for both to find issues with bad lighting ballast, breakers and everything hvac. It would help me quickly find the issue and give a visual to clients so they can see exactly what and why something failed.

Mike I don’t work in plumbing or HVAC but I think I could use one of those cameras in my trade, IT. I work with servers and network gear and the ability to pinpoint hotspots in a server rack could save me a lot of time. I promise to put it to good use if I win. I’ll even send ya some videos from our server room with the thermal imaging camera in use.
