Every time I come to Jakarta (I'm there now 21/11/22) I never get to see the central monument, something always gets in the way, whether it be weather related or something else. About 30 minutes ago we had an earth tremor that I felt whilst in Slipi. Love this place, can't wait to live here.

Jason, Monas and Merdeka Square have been closed to the public since March 2020. Supposedly closed due to Covid but that excuse is long gone. I walk around the outside of Merdeka Square every Saturday morning but getting inside is not currently possible.
Commuter or Metro what you called it, the train you ride is not new in Jakarta. It's quite old actually. The new one is called MRT, completely different.
What do you mean by fairly new? That Sudimara station was always there since i was a kid. The whole railways are from the Dutch colonial era. Maybe you're confusing the train system with the new subway?
The train is suburban train that called KRL Commuter Line. Connecting metropolitan area of Jakarta (Jabodetabek). Metro (MRT) in Jakarta only have 1 line (currently) connect Bundaran HI in Central Jakarta to Lebak Bulus in South Jakarta.
Rainy seasons? You should enjoy the "heat" of Jakarta, Sir ! It seems to me, during Covid years, Jakarta is much more "calm" and relatively "clean" than before. I'm also surprised that it's often forbidden to take pictures in government residences, even though they forget that every concrete, stone and cement tiles are built with people money.
The other country after colonization, native people, religion and language being minority, like in australia, amerika, Philippine, countrys in africa etc, different with indonesia after 350 years colonization native people, religion and language not affected. Indonesian is strong nation people.
