Centur-Ion just has a highly defensive end board that's resilient if not in some cases immune to most forms of destruction removal, and can be set up into a variety of hand traps. The main choke point of the deck right now is arguably Crimson Dragon, but I'm like the only person I know who doesn't run that engine so a lot of people have trouble cracking my stuff until I'm ready to commit to a play. It's going second where you have to do most of your thinking when trying to play this deck, that's why I went a little heavier on the Bystial Engine side of things than most people, a lot of cards used in Branded Bystial have useful going second applications. Stuff like Incredible Ecclesia specialing itself out without starting a chain when the opponent has monsters, or Golden Swordsoul being able to come out by negating your own attack to pull off a surprise Synchro during the Battle Phase while Stand Up is up are pretty nifty for example.
I also considered Ecclesia taking into account the annoying restriction on primera, sometimes I have enough resources to summon dispater and auxilia turn 1 if I could summon Primera the same turn twice, so instead I use Ecclesia as a pseudo extender, having a single tuner is hard for a synchro deck, so I included revolution synchro and agnimal candle as techs, revolution can become rose dragon or crystal wing if needed (the mill can come in clutch sometimes) and agnimal is a good alongside bonefire (could've been better if it was light or dark tho) overall, I like to think the deck was designed to be customized whoever you want, just like you would with a mech.
Its also nice because the combos or initial boards are low investment. Yeah the ceiling is lower, but it doesn't feel like an auto-scoop when Maxx C gets dropped. You can still setup decent-ish follow-up without giving too many cards.

20:52 Activating the stand up in hand to scale Primera, special summon and search phalanx > summon druis, synchro for baronne. Wake up to get a level 8 token, then emblema to scale another Primera. On your opponents turn you can SS primera and synchro with the token to make Crimson. Im not sure that crimson can target the scaled Legatia to go into blazar, but at least you can target baronne and go into dispater. Centurion has two big problems right now 1) can't dodge target negates and 2) you only have primera as a tuner. The first problem doesn't really get solved unless you have the field spell/emblema in hand to extend, or a way to get lubellion on field to go into your auxilla. The second problem gets solved with atrii and primus. Being able to go into blazar on YOUR turn 1, and then ANOTHER blazar is really strong. Having such an extremely consistent deck with like 15-18 handtraps is SO fun. Ive even considered running like 2 copies of ghost mourner as just extra copies of veiler.
I wanna thank the current event for pushing me to craft the deck and giving me a deck to actually use my royal blazar I got from the anniversary and give me a royal primera, I'm quite happy with the deck, I often run heavy combo decks so it's nice to have simpler and competent deck to just chill a bit.
Centurion vs Tenpai. I wouldn't exactly call it an auto-win. But the MU has definitely felt nice climbing up the ladder. Been really enjoying the deck overall. What I've run into that made it nice: The ceiling of the endboard is lower yeah. 1 Blazar isn't really stopping anyone in modern YGO, its still only 1 disruption. But combined with the handtraps you can run relatively comfortably. Its nice. Its also usually low investment so you can choose to setup while avoiding Nibiru or giving too many cards to Maxx C. But Auxila w/ Primera in the back + follow-up synchros require usually specific counters (banishment/droplet) where they can't setup a free win with their usual board breakers. You dont have to commit your synchros blindly thanks to Stand Up. Blazar negating summons helps avoid the field spell and kills the recursion for the lvl7 synchro.
Centur-Ion is easily my new favorite deck to play right now! I've been running Ghost Ogre and Snow Rabbit and it helps so much against some of the best decks in this format. If you haven't tried it yet I recommend it in lieu of Nibiru which I haven't really used with any success recently.
I like playing it with the horus engines and rainbow Bridge , give some draw power and search for one of the field spell and u end up on a better endboard whit the right hand and it also give recovery against gamma and ghost ogre by summoning the monkey before playing any other centurion card or protection and disruption whit photon lord
I think there are two reasons why people say Centurion is good against Tenpai: 1- Blazar's attack negate ends the battle phase, so if they run handtrap Tenpai and can't bait out Blazar, it's gg. 2- A choas angel in defense position made with a light and dark can't be destroyed by battle and is unaffected by the tenpai lvl 10's activated effects. Though in the end, both these options lose to droplet, which most builds of Tenpai run 😅
Honeslty sounds like a "draw the out" situation, that's like saying Tenpai loses if you open Ghost Ogre and/or Cosmic Cyclone to deal with their field spell, and most decks right now are playing one or the other if not both, as well as Thrust targets for stuffing battle phase interactions. Also you forgot to mention how Red Supernova can break the 6k Atk barrier rendering Trident Dragion useless, or that if the opponent doesn't pop your Phalanx, then spot banishing their Chundra forces them to have the Kaiman to keep going, and even if they do you can just bring Auxilla back if it gets attacked over if they don't rush into their floodgate Dragon.
Quick little note: Blazar will get negated by droplet. But the banish + return is cost. You can pay cost and end of turn still get the Blazar back. So in the event their follow-up after the droplet is weak. You can be in a pretty good position.
Droplet can't kill blazar you know if they chain it because you can just banish your own cards with phalanx(because if they had field spell you can even phalanx tenpai)
Centur-Ion is so versatile as a deck and engine, I was barely able to stomach trying to play Synchro decks before it came out and I don't know if I could play any Synchro pile besides Speedroid or Infernoble without an engine like this.
i think this is because of all the hype, but because everyone is using tenpai i think ladder is easier, at least in my case, the very few times i went against yubel i got destroyed
