Demonstration of testing your EDO-Aire Mitchell 1C493 Glide Slope Coupler for proper arming and capture. Optional feature included with Century III Autopilots. Mistake in video - the correct voltage range for a glideslope receiver, bars at the top to bars at the bottom is plus 150mv down to minus 150mv. It still works with more voltage, as shown in the video, but arms the coupler sooner. Full range is plus 300mv to minus 300mv.

hello, my glideslope wont couple and i am not sure if the coupler is the issue. i see you can test it. anyway you can test mine. please reply at your earliest convinience

Hi Nilson, what kind of gps/navcom do you have? I have a Garmin 530, that when placed in the startup test mode, can manipulate the glideslope bars for testing your glideslope coupler. Start your plane to erect the attitude indicator, Center your course deviation indicator, pull your yoke back pretty far, turn on your autopilot to LOC, ALT. Adjust your omni-bearing selector to keep your yoke from turning left or right, count to 20 or 25 seconds, force your glideslope bars to neutral (using your GPS/NAVCOM in the test mode). Your Glideslope capture light should illuminate if your glideslope coupler is working properly. Sorry but I'm unable to check out yours. You might try Autopilots Central or Century. Each should be able to test and repair your coupler.
