It has taken many many years, but I can now finally say that I have worked on the complete hyper car trinity! Ferrari LaFerrari, Porsche 918 Spyder and Mclaren P1. Working on these cars brings many pucker moments, followed by a whole new level of satisfaction when complete!
This LaFerrari, painted in a beautiful Rosso Fuoco red, had already been protected with paint protection on the entire vehicle, seemingly from the time it was new. However, it was starting to show its age and the owner wanted to have it removed before it became too difficult and posed a further risk of paint damage down the road. Our PPF partners at @autopaintguardinc.7287 took on the challenge of spending many hours, carefully and painstakingly removing the old film from every inch of the car. This is probably the scariest part of the entire project. Even though the owner is fully aware of the risks, we still dont want to be the ones to delivery the bad news on a car, especially one as nice and low mileage as this one!
Thankfully, the team was able to navigate through the entire removal without any damage to the vehicle at all! Whew! The next step is now cleaning any adhesive that may be left over from the removal of the old film and the installation of the new film on the entire vehicle. Once Ryan and the team were finished applying the @xpel paint protection film to the car, it was brought next door to our facility where we perform all of the detailing and ceramic coating work. We started by wiping down the film with isopropyl alcohol to clean and remove all of the water, baby shampoo and solutions that are using during the PPF install. Once clean, we can start applying our choice coatings from Gtechniq. For this project we chose to use Gtechniq Crystal Serum Ultra to give the paint that insane depth and slickness that Gtechniq is known for. This car will be sitting in a collection under some nice lighting and this thing will just pop now!
