Cassandra the hairstyle is called Bantu Knots. It’s an African hairstyle that obviously found its way here (thank God). You do not have to use extra hair. Depending on the length of your natural hair, it will determine how “full” you want it to look. Black men can also wear this style and it is not viewed as “feminine”. As far as the Black Girl Sunscreen, I use it everyday. There is no coating left behind, and it applies well. I know you didn’t ask for all this information but you do have a large audience of African Americans who look forward to your posts, and I just wanted you to be updated on what’s going on in our neck of the woods so-to-speak. My professor has these knots now, and i think they're so cool! She told us that when she was in high school, she wanted to rock her natural hair and not straighten them, but her family kept trying to get her to straighten her hair...i was like wha!!!!! Your hair is so cool and beautiful this way! Anyways I have a question, so one of my students had these knots and braided hair..but one of her braid literally fell off to the ground one day! Does that mean she's probably using extra hair on her knots? Please someone tell me if she has extra hair or if it could be damaging to the hair? Thank you!

That sunscreen tip at the end is everything I ever wanted. I live in South Africa and I am a dark skinned girl but my skin burns quite easily and I haven't used a sunscreen for over 2 years because the ones I used either left my skin too oily or purple and didn't seem to make much if a difference because I would still burn. It was just a mess. I remember having sunburn after compulsory swimming class (during summer only) in school and my "swimming costume tan" would last all year. I love being outside in the sun but avoid staying outside too long because I'm scared of getting darker. I want the black girl sunscreen so badly. I'm definetly saving up for one because the exchange rate means its way more expensive here. Can't wait for your review on it. I want to experience that too.

"CeraVe is NOT cruelty-free. This means that this brand either tests on animals, pays for animal testing, or sells in mainland China. Some brands that fall under this category test on animals where required by law, which means they're not cruelty-free. CeraVe is owned by L'Oréal, a company that is not cruelty-free." This is the information I have from where I live (you have a subscriber from Portugal 😉). So basically here in the EU all brands have been banned from selling products that test on animals, regardless of where they were produced and the laws on those countries. However, since they sell in China and therefore they need to have their products tested there they are not completely cruelty free. So in the US it would depend from where are they shipping the product, or if they have any factories there and the laws, which I really don't know. In any case, I think that on the product should be written where it was produced. Hope that helps!

Hi, love your advices. I have a question. Is there any treatments that really works to get rid of scarring. Like my acne is not as bad as before but there is still "purpleish" marks. Same on my back and shoulders. I don't have enormous breakouts anymore but when I have acne it takes months before scarring and the scar won't disappear 😞😞😞😞

@@user-yk4te2kv9b There was a follow up from that interview in which Amandla states she goes by gender-neutral and feminine pronouns after gaining more education. I believe it was around the time that she spoke about The Hate U Give. The original interview where preferred pronouns were mentioned was when they were still in high school or had just graduated. Amandla is 21 now. Edited to add the quote from the Washington Post article: "Stenberg realized that she “didn’t need those pronouns to feel comfortable. . . . And it felt almost detrimental to those who really did need them.” (For the record, she’s good with “she” and “her.”)

heyyy cassandra this might be a super dumb question but i'll shoot my shot! should i still be wearing sunscreen if I am inside all day (and not near a window)? pretty much the only time i go outside is to commute to work (12 min) and I was just wondering if indoor lighting can have an effect on the skin where we would need to protect it with a sunscreen? i mean the name does say sun... thank u!

Cassandra its great you mentioned the myth on sunscreen for dark skin. In the pacific, its not a norm to apply sunscreen. I used to only apply on beach days but thanks to your videos, I apply everyday now. And all in my 30s. Imagine all the accumulative sun damage all these years 😕🤨

Hi Cassandra, I’m a new subscriber and is 48 yo, I want to ask, before I used a commercial popular brand sunscreen , it made my skin darker (than when I wasn’t using a sunscreen)is it safe to conclude that the sunscreen that I was using isn’t beneficial for me? Maybe what low cost brands can you recommend?
