This makes me feel like I'm just casually walking through an abandoned slaughterhouse where people have also been killed or died and ended up falling into the grinder. . .
This tune is so viscerally unsettling to me. Especially with the sounds that come in at 0:25. It feels like a musical representation of the feeling of fear you get when you have sleep paralysis.
@@ostextended3387 I'm glad I'm not alone on that one. It only happens on the original console, from my experience, so I figure a lot of people don't even know about it.
Mainly because how most non-indonesian (which where the music instruments use originated) is not very used to hearing the song but for us Indonesians Instead of a horror uncanny music it's more into a beautiful music
So many layers and rhythms here. It’s really a 4/4 beat but makes itself tricky to appear otherwise, fitting for the tone. The woodwind melody really blends it together in my opinion
What we are hearing here is an emulation of gamelan music wich has its origins in the islands that make up Indonesia. It uses a unique tuning system making it sound kind of eary to western ears (including mine). Performances have a fascinating vibe of community though and are often described as calming and meditative. Here is a good starting point if you want to explore that fascinating kind of musical culture: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-UEWCCSuHsuQ.html
what makes this track stand out from among the others is that its based on javanese court gamelan music from indonesia. theres a similar influence in the soundtrack to the Akira anime movie, and an authentic example of this is in the movie "once upon a time in new york," including the shadow puppet dramas. im not a musician, but there is a use of time in this musical tradition that is very interesting. afaik there is no other musical style in the world that sounds like this, its unique. well worth checking out
I've been looking for this theme for _ages!!_ I've never heard of Secret of Mana before now, but I heard this used as background music in another video years ago. I never would've thought to look here. Still just as spooky as the first time I heard this, though.
A classic to be sure, Hiroki Kikuta's first game as a composer, and Nasir Gebelli's final game as a programmer. Its quite historic despite a few programming bugs that youll have to get used to.
I am surprised by how the music composers of this game were able to make such a creepy song with as innocent instruments like the ones they used in this song
@@DiegoAlonso-c7d Hiroki Kikuta, the music composer, has degrees in Religious Studies, Philosophy, and Cultural Anthropology. I wonder if these disciplines helped shape his music? Anyhow, his work on this game was fantastic.
This music is probably creepy but the instrument of this music is using Balinese gamelan For those who didn't know, Gamelan is a is the traditional ensemble music of the Javanese, Sundanese, and Balinese peoples of Indonesia, made up predominantly of percussive instruments When I hearing this music, I'm really imagine myself in ancient temple like Prambanan Temple in Yogyakarta or Borobudur Temple in Magelang, Central Java
@@ostextended3387 Sorry for being late but I forgot to mention about Gamelan's influence on contemporary music My favorite video like Sonic Unleashed using Gamelan instruments on Adabat, a nation based on Southeast Asian locations like Indonesia, Thailand and Cambodia Another my favorite video game like Kena: Bridge of Spirits is setting on location inspired by Japan and Bali, Jason Gallaty the composer of this game collaborated with Balinese ensemble group Gamelan Çudamani to create gamelan music respectful to the culture In Disney film like Atlantis: The Lost Empire, James Newton Howard who composed this film chose Gamelan as musical theme of the Atlanteans Later in 2021, Howard even using the Gamelan music for Raya and the Last Dragon, another Disney film that inspired by Southeast Asian culture and it was my favorite Disney film in 2021 In anime such as Akira in 1988, Shoji Yamashiro using Gamelan Jegog and it was made of bamboo for gang fight in opening or when Tetsuo's rampage on street with his power In Neo Ranga that released in 1998, the Balinese Gamelan including Kecak Dance is used after the Island of Balou is inspired by Bali
i have heard this before and i just have no idea where. now i heard it used in a video here on youtube and found the source. i have no clue why i know this song, i never played the original game. but it sounded so creepy it was stuck in my mind for a long time clearly
Recently replayed Secret Of Mana with a friend, and hearing this tune again brought back memories, also reminded me of my creepypasta phase (Creepypasta Land used Ceremony in parts of the game lmao)
