Never mind as an 'alternative' to a Ranger, or indeed anything else - I think this DS Podium stands-up as a feature-packed great value gateway/first Swiss timepiece. I've been looking for such a 'proper' automatic watch to give to my nephew for his 18th birthday next year and I'm pretty well sold on this one after considering many others from the likes of Alpina, Edox, Hamilton, Tissot, e.t.c.
The Ball's dial looks "too busy" for me. I don't like watches with dials that look 'too busy'. The Tudor Ranger's dial (and Certina) is perfect. Not busy looking, simple, can be worn in any event or occasion.
Good Review! It's a nice looking everyday sporty watch. I have a Tag Carrera but I am a fraid to wear it all around. I also enjoy lume on these markers! For the price, it's not an heirloom but a quality piece imo.
@@TheTimekeeper That's the definitive thaugts for this watch to make me to buy one !I like if the lume is ok !I have to a watch that has superluminova and i am please with this !Certenly this Certina has OK lume !😉
Is it not an ETA movement? I was thinking about getting a DS-2 which I believe has the same movement. What would you say are the negatives with this movement?
Many thanks, interesting, I will get one 2nd hand and put a leather strap on it, the 38mm seems discontinued (at least in Europe) and looks like this version comes only in a 33mm version @@TheTimekeeper
