19 March 2022 - Video 4: Two days after surgery, I talk about how my recovery is going. ▶ Complete series: • Cervical Disc Replacem... #cervicaldiscreplacement #spinalsurgery #cervicaldiscarthroplasty
I just had this same surgery 48 hrs ago and my experience at this point is a sore throat and mild pain swallowing. I’ve been able to sleep on my side with my soft neck brace. No pains meds needed for now but eating soft foods and staying hydrated. Overall it was worth it I had two levels and feeling better each day!
Hey ! I just had a two level replacement done and am 72 hours out. Was wondering you you or the original guy thought the some clicking sound or popping sound was normal as you started to move again after surgery? Thanks!
@@cdx2786 Hello I had Mobi-C surgery two levels once the damaged discs were cleared , the Mobi-C discs were inserted into the disc space. I did not experience no popping sounds or clicking while recovering at home. My throat was very sore for a few days had difficulty swallowing ate only purée foods.
I had the same surgery about 3 weeks ago...I ate a Taco Bell crunchwrap after I was released (7 hours post surgery) while waiting for my prescription to be filled. That's not to say it was all great, to his point, sleeping was an absolute bear for the first few nights. But honestly, within 4 days the only complaint was the pain in my neck/not being to bend down. No brace, off opiods within 72 hours, went for a 1.5 mile walk within 24 hours of waking up from procedure. People, if you're on the fence and you trust your surgeon, it's the best decision you could make. Headaches and nerve pain are gone, my quality of life is already better even with the annoyance "pain" involved with recovery.
Thanks for sharing your experience. I agree with your statement "People, if you're on the fence and you trust your surgeon, it's the best decision you could make."
Hey Tianna, thanks for your kind words. I'm glad you found my videos. Wishing you all the best for your surgery and a speedy recovery. Let me know how it goes and if you have any questions.
Did you have sharp pain down lower around your mid back between your shoulder blades? How long did it take to start improving significantly? What helped most with the pain?
Hi, I did not experience that pain before or after my surgery. I had acute nerve pain in my neck and was loosing strength in my right arm. Majority or all of that pain was resolved right after I came out of the surgery. The surgical intervention helped the most to resolve my pain. My advice would be to speak to a trusted specialist doctor/surgeon to discuss and treat your unique case. Hope that helps. Wishing you all the best. - Sean
Hi, thank you for your kind comment. Apologies for my delayed response. How was your surgery and how is your recovery going? Wishing you all the best for your recovery.
Hi, this was my final update video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SqBpvltzVYw.html I'm still doing really well. I've had two back spasms over the past 18 months, but have recommenced all normal activities including exercise (swimming, running and paddling). All in all, I'm doing really well. You can also check out some of these videos: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0FKUmi255qA.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--gaFDFKJiIs.html
I specifically asked my doctor and was told that it is not needed. If it helps with comfort, then I'm sure you're welcome to wear one, but I was advised not to. Apologies for delayed reply.
Hi Sean - I'll be getting C6 replacement in a few weeks as it's bulging (or maybe herniated, I keep forgetting). It's caused weakness, tingling, and numbness in my left hand, but in the beginning it was excruciating pain that has since subsided. Is this similar to what you went through? Did your symptoms all go away eventually? The neurosurgeon told me there's a chance I have permanent nerve damage already, so I may or may not improve. Curious to hear about your experience.
Hi, I'm sorry to hear about your situation. After my surgery all my pain and weakness went away. I've had two episodes of back spasms since my surgery over the past 18 months, but other than that the surgery resolved my injury, pain and weakness. Wishing you all the best.
@@Sean_Twomey Thanks for the reply, Sean. Glad to hear the surgery resolved everything for you. Mine is coming up this Thursday. I'm wondering if the mid and lower back pain I'm also having has any relation to my C5/C6 disc--seems unlikely. I just hope I don't have other disc problems in my mid and lower back too.
@@Sean_Twomey Well my surgery went great, and I have only a little neck stiffness, nothing you wouldn't expect. The hand nerve symptoms are 99% gone. I am curious though, is there any way to cover up the scar in the meantime? I keep wearing turtlenecks since I don't want people to see it, and it's getting old. Any special makeup, bandages, etc? I haven't found anything yet.
Hi, Thanks for your reply. The popping went away pretty quickly and I am 10 weeks out and there is still stiffness but the chronic neck pain is gone! So thankful! Thanks for posting your journey, it really helped me! 😊
Recently had 2 herniated discs in 6 months and the last one lasted 2 months 10 days of pinched nerve misery. Dr.s in USA suck horribly. I’ve had No pain relief, been called a pain exaggerator and blown off. Mri says otherwise, dr. Now Says c5 thru c7 fusion,( still no pain relief) also told me that 5mm artificial discs are the smallest. The internet says 4mm is what is available tho. I hate dr.s ,every one I’ve been to has lied at some point. The pain clinic has a talk therapy for pain management. I heard that and almost shit myself, those idiots are insane to think real pain is psychological.
Hi Eric, I’m really sorry to hear this. I have not experienced the medical system in the USA, but have heard some horrible stories. Do you have options of traveling somewhere else to get better medical care? Wishing you all the best.
@@Sean_Twomey thanks, I’ve since been to st.Mary’s and was taken seriously, within 3 weeks I had 2 artificial discs and may need a third. The difference between the care and treatment is insanely different. Example being uw surgeon telling me fusion is the only option because disc was compressed to 3.7mm and they wouldn’t install anything bigger than that,to having two 6mm discs and feeling better immediately and having better alignment overall. Nothing has pissed me off more than be accused of faking pain.
