Best way to explain and make it easy to understand by all . Encourages conservative treatment than surgical intervention to patients who are suffering from this problem. Excellent piece of advice and information. Thank you . Me’raj Sheikh

Great video and well laid out. Starting Memorial Day, 2013 I spiraled into an absolute unraveling case of cervical radiculopathy. Began with severe pain in my right shoulder, eventually landing in my biceps, forearm and thumb & index finger. Once into the am and hand I didn't get ANY REM sleep for about 9 weeks. Managed cat naps of 15-30 minutes here and there, always awoken by severe pain and numbness. Eventually got an MRI showing a while out of damage in my neck, including an asymptomatic rupture ad c2-c3 and bulging and ruptured disc's at c4-c5, c5-c6 & c6-c7. Without insurance I was struggling to find ANY surgeon to assist, and by early Fall, the pain was giving way to weakness. Couldn't lift a cup of coffee or use a pen or utensils anymore-problematic as I am right handed! My local pain management doctor, who I've seen for years to treat permanent damage caused by 4 operations at l4-l5, told me, in late September, that my Window was quickly closing and I was starting permanent nerve damage in the face. Then, my saviors at MUSC in Charleston got me in, looked at the scans & did a physical examination and determined I was at roughly 85% loss in strength and needed "Emergency Intervention" - had a2 level, c5-c7 acdf done right before Thanksgiving, 2013 and regained 100% strength immediately following surgery, which AMAZED the surgeon and staff! All was going great until recently. Now, my left arm has gone crazy and I am scheduled to see my surgeon (this time WITH insurance!) April 8 for an MRI & CT Scan... If my fingers on my left hand were not absolutely ON FIRE, I'd cross them. But, since the pain is too great I shall cross just those on my right arm and hope for the best... though I have a feeling SOMETHING is very awry!

So pleased you finally got some relief!! I have suffered from the same pain for two years now. I fractured my thoracic spine and found out 2 years later is herniated c5/6 two spinal fusions later, it’s still the worst pain ever. I now how a herniations to c4/5 and the pain in my neck that radiates down through my shoulder running right down my arm and into my hand and the pain is like someone putting glass up up nerves. The pain is horrible. I can’t get any help. :(

I have never seen a clearer explanation better than this. I wish I was as informed as this. However, I still have these mentioned symptoms even after surgery. Is there anything I can do?

Excellent explanation! I have epidural steroid injections for my DDD (degenerative disc disease) that help greatly to relieve neck/shoulder pain, pins/needles shooting down arms, and difficulty with numbness in thumbs and pointer fingers. I, literally, can not hold onto objects as my thumb and pointer fingers become weak and numb. The injections help for about 4-6 months. Heat pad around neck helps as well as neck exercises.

Thanks,I am suffering from it since 30 days started with stiff neck. My moment of neck is ok but pain radiates through left arm in initial phase now it's only fixed to triceps n shoulder area . Sometimes pain is not there but at stretching of the nerves it comes back. Do need to take MRI? My physiotherapist says,it will be cured by therapy n exercise

+Paul R. Jeffords I don't have a herniated disc or a tumor but I'm not sure what's causing my case of cervical radiculopathy from nerve root c6. In the x-ray, I have a straight neck (and it's very stiff and tender). I haven't experienced any trauma or injury, so I'm not sure how this came about? Also how do I deal with the pain when trying to sleep. Whenever I recline my neck hurts and the pain radiates into my arm. It feels like my shoulder/arm is going to fall off. I can't lie down because of the excruciating pain; what are alternative sleeping positions that can give me a good night rest?

Online Earn Savvy you could have bone spurs pressing against the nerve root.
@michelerasta1
@michelerasta1 7 лет назад
Online Earn Savvy you veey wwll could have bulging disks and a cervical injury but not know it. If you have had an MRI and had it while lying down chances are about 90% that you are misdiagnosed Whenever there is a neck or back injury and you are given an MRI you should always do it while in motion or sitting up when you do it while lying down it puts pressure on the spine and does not show the injury correctly as it would while in motion or sitting up there's a new technology called DMX digital motion x-ray look it up it's pretty amazing

I have moderate cervical spinal collapse physiotherapy was refused in a cervical epidural was recommended but since I had 15 years of Lumbar epidurals for prolapsed disc and developed arachnid itis and extreme high blood pressure I declined I was told I have to have at least one epidural before they even consider doing surgery on my neck this is an Ontario Canada and I'm prayed of stroking from the epidural
