Yes sir, I really dig the old school vibes from the Cerwin vega speakers. The wooden cabinets aren't like most speakers in todays market. Most are made of cheap wood/polymer and are really lightweight. The weight makes a difference when the volume is turned up, because the heavy bass causes lightweight speakers to move and rattle. I missed your message you sent about couple months ago. For some reason it didn't show up, I found it under spam on RU-vid. So just a heads up I didn't mean to be rude by not responding. Take care & I hope you enjoy your Thanksgiving :)
Yea definitely they are getting bigger. I was hoping Cerwin Vega would make a bigger center speaker with Quad 8" drivers or bigger. I know they made a XLC-6 that has only two 6.5" woofers. It would be nice even for a quad 6.5" :)
I've got sl15's for fronts, powered by crown xli2500 amp. I freakin' love them. Great for jamming music, but I love them for my surround too. All the bass I could ask for, my sub woofer is pointless. Great highs an mids too. Combined with my crown amp its the best investment I've ever made. I'm 48, own a house on the water, have a lot of fishing gear, stereo eqpt, etc. My SL15's are still my all time favorite.
Nice, I have a few Cerwin Vegas myself. If you haven't seen my home theater video I advise you check it out on your free time. It's a complete Cerwin Vega audio setup , I've got a pair of CLSC 215's, CLSC 12's, VS-80's,VS-120's, VS-150's & the SL-45C as a center speaker. So far the CLSC 215's are incredible, especially with the dual 15" woofers on each speaker :)
@@jassalfarm3743 I will check it out. I tried to make a couple of vids to show the sound, but my mic sucks. I posted one that got the point across but still crappy. I've got a new mic and I'll try again for some quality at least.🤘🤘
@@ericnortan9012 Cool I would definitely check out your video's. I'm planning on buying an amp to help power my vegas but don't know which one would be best? I'm thinking anthem or McIntosh... I need couple hundred watts per channel. Your crown amp seems really good. Can multiple be hooked up together to power multiple speakers? And how many watts does that one push per channel?
@@jassalfarm3743 the xli series by crown are a type a/b pro amp that has an adjustable input frequency to make them compatable with home equipment. My amp is 500 watts per channel at 8 ohms. They have several size amps in this series. I think the xli800 is around 200wpc at 8 ohms. I love mine, it's silent and packs some power. They are really cheap compared to most quality home/consumer amps. You can get the xli2500 for about $450. Pretty reputable company. They have xls series that are class d that are supposed to be pretty good for decent price too. They have more pro functions. The XLI are straight up power amps with an ON button and 2 gain knobs, couple of LEDs. I never here the fan. I think it's a great match for my SL15's, they need some real power to come alive. What ever amp you get, I feel you should get as much power as you can afford, headroom is what it's about. Sorry for going on and on🤘🤘
@@jassalfarm3743 one more thing, they are pro amps so they are made to be racked up, they can be bridged. I think you can do pretty much what you need to with them as far as I know.
I run 2 Cerwin Vega AT-15's and 2 VE-15's through an Integra DTR 50.3 on 2 Crown XLi 1500's. Talk about loud and clear..That's a very nice center channel.May have to give one a try.
I think I'm getting this speaker to match my SL15's. I currently have a Sony sscs8 center., which is actually a really nice speaker. but it doesn't have enough ass compared to my CV! fronts. I have to crank the center level up. I looked at XLS6c and its pretty sweet but I think the SL45 looks better and is designed to match my SL 15's. Anyway, now that you've had them for a while, what do you think? Good center speaker? I plan on getting another Xli amp to power them.
Sorry for late response, Its defintley a good Center speaker for sure a big upgrade compared to my '90s CV center speaker. I'd stick with the SL series line up to match your SL-15's.
