Young lady, I own 1972 Cessna 150 since new. I'm now 99 years of age as of May 2020. Still get her up once and awhile. With a family member. From Los Angeles California USA 🇺🇸. Keep flying and follow your dreams. Mr. Hahn
I learned in a 150 in 1994 at the age of 18. Now, I have 6 type ratings and fly the A320 for a major US airline. This video takes me back. Well done and THANK YOU.
I haven't found anything yet more fun than flying a slow airplane across the country, if you have the time. Great trip, great landings, great 150, great video.
What a great country the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA is!!! No other country offers the "regular joe or jane" the freedom to fly their own plane like this, affordably and with very little hassle and restrictions. How blessed a person should be to live in such a wonderful place! God Bless the USA and all it offers to its people!! And I do have a soft spot for the "150 series". Did my Primary training and a lot of subsequent cross countries, in a 152 out in Davis, California. Even though a good chunk of my recent post PPL time and Instrument and Commercial were done in a 172, I still get the urge to fly the "flying lawnmower." They are so nimble and fun!
Well i dunno about cheap. A used Cessna 150 would range from $30,000 to 75,000. The cost of a private pilots license is another $15,000 to $20,000. Insurance costs money as well. And maintenance everything in aviation is expensive. Its not like buying parts at autozone and installing them yourself unfortunately.
Love the “pats” on the dash! I do the same with my 150k mile vehicle. Epic trip, excellent video editing, and perfect song choices. Thanks for sharing!
1969 flew round trip Beverly, Massachusetts to Fullerton, California in a 1947 Stinson Voyager. 300 miles legs and ancient, minimal avionics. A wonderful trip. Repeated the trip the following year in a Cessna 210.... that included coming back through San Francisco and Yellowstone Park. The Stinson trip was quite an adventure for a low time pilot. The 210 trip was fun, but not the challenge of the Stinson. Many coast to coast trips in later years, mostly in a Cessna 310, Delaware to Fullerton in one day with two stops, still waxed nostalgic about the Stinson trip.
Great job and very entertaining. Watched all 3. And subscribed. Love THA plane too. Don’t know what kind of jerks give thumbs down to someone’s personal experiences, but that capacity never fails to disappoint me, after so many years. Again, great job!
Reminds me about my 150 time. (1990 and 23 year’s of age ) Awesome you get this done and share it. And your 150 looks very very good. Nice to see the old bird is kept well like that
Nice airplane, beautiful person, wonderful video! I soloed a C-150 on my 16th birthday in 1964. It was the old straight back style (no "omni-vision"), but they all fly the same...NICE! I put my flying on hold in about 1985 due to the high price of housing in the Los Angeles area, family, and a very satisfying but busy career in aerospace as a mechanical engineer, but now I am retired and have started downsizing my house since all the kids are grown. I am hoping that will put me in position to buy a 150 and get retreaded. Thank you for making these videos. You are really boosting my enthusiasm to get started again!
Awesome! I did a similar trip when I bought my plane in Portland, Oregon and flew it home to Wisconsin. I really want to do another long trip, but the hard part is making the time...
Thanks so much for taking us along your adventurous journey. You made the ride in your good looking chariot a real pleasure with your viewing perspective and music selection. Look forward to follow up segments - not everyone flies a C150 coast-to-coast.
Wow, I've read posts from people telling someone that a C172 is not good for long trips (I always call bs) and look at you. Way to go! Nice videography, love the little C150 (started flying in one of those).
Wow, nice video! Looks like this trip takes lots of planning. On the other hand, the airspace seemed rural and probably easy flights. Very entertaining!
Thank you for bringing back a great memory. I flew my 1976 C150M N3723V from Zamperini Airport (Torrance, CA) to a grass strip just south of Tampa St. Petersburg. I was even cleared through Class Bravo at Tampa St. Pete! When I owned her she was featured in AOPA in an Article on 150’s in Oct. 2007. I miss her to this day as that was my last flight in her.
Your video editing is excellent, music choices are perfect, Well Done! I am impressed that you were able to keep the story-line interesting and on track for your mission. On to Part 2 of your story. Really nice work.
I really like watching you fly...flew Cessnas and Tomahawk in the 1980's - Living large through you...Thanks for a great show and letting us tag along!
Fantastic! It reminds me of a trip that I and a friend took in a 150 from Kissimmee to Dallas and back (2000 miles roughly) about 20 years ago. Took off on Friday afternoon and landed back Sunday lunchtime. One of the air traffic controllers, on being asked for a ground speed, told us to lean forward in the seats as we were only managing 75 mph. Great video, I love the "Gross" comments when you think that the landing was not perfect and the loving pats that you give your aircraft. I look forward to seeing the other two videos in the series. Thank you!
Awesome Video. Loved it. Was beautiful watching you flying your bird coast to coast. Leaning my PPL now . Hope to do something similar in the near future
That is one nice old 150!! I owned a 1972 150 (N 17291) with a similar paint job, and same wheel pants. I loved that little bird. She’d get off the ground in about 150’. Only problem I ever had with her was starter motor and leaky front strut. Basic instrumentation. It was around 1989 and I’ve since retired and had a heart valve replacement. Enjoy that gal while you can !!! Love from Akron Ohio
My first plane was at 150 (now a Mooney M 20J). I had a little over 440 hours logged in that plane and we went everywhere out of Texas all the way to the smoky mountains and to the west coast with my wife and I. No auto pilot and nothing but slow rolling it 5000 feet cross country. As much as I miss those days, I do not miss those days now having a Mooney. 🤣 The 150 will always have a special place in the majority of pilots hearts.
Reminds me of when I owned my C150 band flew it all over the place. I am a retired airline Captain now and still think of those days in the 150 when flying was pure pleasure and fun.
Holy headwinds! I've made the journey several times in my '46 Luscombe and, yes, I once relocated from Virginia to Washington State. Oh my are you in for a treat, Amy, when you fly in your destination part of the country. Gotta see the next two videos in anticipation of your reaction as you hit Montana and cross Billings Pass through the Rockies and Mullin Pass into WA 😊 Oops...watched the other two and you took a more southerly route. Make sense as I think about it. Luscombes have a very high service ceiling. I've no time in a 150. Just an old tailwheel guy.
Just finished a road trip from Pittsburgh to McCook Ne. Neat to see some of those same landmarks from the air! Especially, the windmills! Thx for posting!
I love what you’re doing! I just shared your video on a FB page called Cessna 150/152 upgrades, restorations and modifications. You should join! Anyway, I wanted to share your talent. Great job! Look forward to watching your channel grow and from the very beginning! Peace ✌🏻😎
I owned a 150B which I used in Western Australia, mostly in the Pilbara region, all navigation was with chart, compass, clock and a Kane " prayer wheel" and clocked up about 600 hours in this aircraft. Great aeroplane, be safe.
HELLO! I just found this video of your. I live in Casper Wyoming and keep my plane there. LOVED the video. I'll be sharing it. Sorry it took so long for me to find it.
I’ve been a pilot for fourth years and this cross country trip looked like more fun. It always helps to have foreflight and good instruments to aid in the planning. Great work!
What a great trip! I like that you were able to catch other airplanes from a ways of doing airplane things, like landing and just motoring along. Great video!
What a beautiful airplane. I learned to fly in a 150 starting in 1962. Went on to become an airline pilot with 14000 hours. Still remember that great little airplane.
Wonderful! Beautifully filmed, beautifully edited and, most of all, beautifully flown. It’s been a long time (39 years) since I sat in the left seat of a 150 and I never did anything like your trip in one. I relish the flying I get to do now in my C441 but I may just go out and rent a few hours in a 150, you piqued my appetite! By the way, your Casper stop brings back memories of flying there from my base in Long Beach, CA in my previous airplane, a Piper Saratoga, to see the total eclipse in August, 2017. I dodged thunderstorms all the way up and all the way back but it was more than worth it.
I learned in a 1966 150 in 1971. $17 per hour for the 150, $5 for the instructor. Flew for the airlines, bought a 1973 150 for the kids to fly, kept it about 20 years. After tinkering with it for 20 years it flew hands off. Engine purred like a 6 cyl. A few times I think the traffic on the ground was passing us... but that's OK unless it's bumpy.
Great video. That had to be one heck of an adventure. Brought back memories of my flight training in a 150 here in Columbia SC. Such great little planes. I enjoy my Piper arrow im a partner in, but there is just something about that 150. Happy flying!
Great video. Looking forward to seeing your next installment. If possible can you include details on your flight? Like best guess for avg speed, fuel burn, time it took to travel between fbo’s? Would help paint a good picture of what to expect if someone planned a similar trip. All the best..
I nearly spit up my coffee when you landed in Prestonsburg. I live not too far from there XD Pikeville's airport is closer to shopping (walmart, etc) and used to have airline service for a few years until it was stopped (due to low demand i guess)
At 11:30, dude at the FBO shows up on what looks like a late 60's vintage Honda Trail 90. Was just out in the garage winterizing the '76 Trail 90. Cool to see that.
Wish I could give you 2 likes. 10 likes! Love the views you show. Crossing other APs, planes in the air and the lush topography. I’m subscribing for sure.
