TAS called and 1BC is ready for pickup! My buddy John offered to fly me there in his Cessna 340. Enjoy a VFR flight from Chicago Aurora Airport (ARR) to Defiance, Ohio (DFI) where John and I discuss airplane purchases, upgrades and maintenance. The folks at TAS had already test flown the plane, reorganized my log books/aircraft records and did a great job of showing/explaining everything that needed to be done to keep my plane safe and airworthy.

Fascinaring. For my ‘46 Champ, I’ve gone to a guy who has flown, maintained, and restored Aeroncas for decades (also has done Pitts’ for decades). Can’t imagine not having somebody who really knows fabric and small (old) engines. So glad for you that the 310 shop found the wear/tear others had not seen!

I was super impressed by the professionalism of that shop. They may be expensive but I’d sure feel happy flying an airplane maintained by that. I’ve always thought any maintenance shop should at least ride along on the first flight after an annual.

Kevin I had a dual vacuum failure on my Malibu. The issue was that there were holes in the boots that were allowing water into the system over a long period of time which caused both vacuum pumps to fail within a few hours of one another. A lot of water was drained out of my system. TAS explanation for you sounds reasonable, but just ensure you don’t have boot pinholes that are allowing water into the system over a period of time.

This is such an awesome way to help explain to laypeople just exactly what it takes to keep a plane airworthy and the pilot and his passengers safe. It is not a turnkey operation like some people treat an automobile. You can't just pull over on the next cloud when you breakdown in a plane. Great job, Kevin. Keep this types of videos coming. They are a wealth of knowledge.

As a member of Civil Air Patrol (CAP) and someone who is trained for ELT searches... Yes we will call, Yes we will search, and yes we appreciate you adding the GPS info to your ELT. Triangulating on an ELT can waste valuable time because we are often on foot or flying searches with incomplete information and having the lat/long to start makes our search much easier.

Oil analysis is such a great idea. I’m in a club with three planes and it is such a great tool for the maintenance. I use Blackstone too. I am sure others do it too but they are great. They can pretty much tell you what is wrong or going wrong with your engine just by what metal and how much. They even can tell you what to do or look for. I even use it on my car. Great videos. Been a fan for a long time. I am a maintenance officer on one of the club planes and love this series. I love to watch the flying but it’s nice to see the other stuff too. Keep up the good work!

After owning twin Cessnas for years, I still have a special place in my heart for the 340 (of course the A model with the more powerful engines). The 340 is the best looking twin Cessna ever made. No offense to the 310, I owned two T310Q models because I liked the short nose so much better. Pretty sure that’s why I like the 340 better than the 421. I loved my 421, but it must be that nose that threw something off in my brain haha (although it was a great place for golf clubs). Even though I’m in a turbine now, I still hold a special place in my heart for twin Cessnas, especially that sexy 340. Thanks for all the great videos and I’m thrilled that “imminent” gear failure never came to fruition. Stay safe and see ya on the next one.
