This certainly looked like a one way trip to Flavortown. Southern flied to familiar destinations, but did it their own way! It's that kick of customer service in every aspect that keeps regular flyers coming back for more.
9:34 interesting, I've photographed that plane a few different times at IAD, I call it Forever Foxtrot 😄 really looking forward to flying between IAD and MGW this year, hopefully!
hey I'm wondering how the flight is turbulence wise? I'm flown in little 2 seater cessena's on calm days and I would describe the bumps pretty much the same feeling as driving on the road. No rollercoaster type drops, just kinda like floating on a small boat. What is your experience like here.
Good question! One of the reasons I enjoy smaller planes is that you do get to feel the air more. It really feels like you're flying! You can feel turbulence significantly more, it's true, but you'll basically never experience that "roller-coaster" style drop except, perhaps, in bad weather. So you feel it more, but it's less disruptive, if that makes sense!
Were there only 3 passengers on this flight? If so, sweet! As a student pilot, I would love to fly in a small plane like this. I need to find an affordable one in California.
There were! I always recommend every aviation nerd flies a commuter airline when they can; Southern actually flies a route between LAX and Show Low, Arizona by way of Imperial and Phoenix!
I'm not an experience flyer and I'm planning to fly from Morgantown to Washington. The only flights I've had been on large passenger jets. Any advice you could give me or anything to calm my nerves? haha
Thanks for asking! Flying a little plane isn't too different from flying a large plane. Thankfully, the Cessnas that Southern uses are pretty roomy, even compared to regional jets you might be more used to. You will feel the bumps and jumps more in a small plane, so if you're prone to nausea, you might consider some anti-nausea meds to put you at ease. It's a surprisingly short flight, though, so enjoy it if you can, and if not, it'll be over before you know it! I hope you have a great experience!
@@MilesByFoot thank you for the reply as well as the advice. My flight isn't till September so plenty of time to learn more about it. I'm flying out of DC on my first international flight too. So plenty of first for me. I just hope southern doesn't have any delays haha Thanks again, I'll reply how goes in a few months
@@hellfire439 If you have a choice, get the earliest flight of the day out of MGW; that'll help, especially if the international leg and the Southern flight aren't on the same ticket!
It's me again, my flight is two days away and I was hoping you could answer a question for me. Would I going through security at Morgantown only? I should have time in between my flights but if I have to go through security at Dullas then I might have to rethink my traveling. And while I have you, I only have my carry on. Would I be able to have that on me at like larger airlines? Thanks again for your previous help
@@hellfire439 you will go through security in MGW, but you should not need to when you arrive at Dulles. You will be taken by bus from the plane to your "gate", but you will already be airside. The security at MGW is just as stringent as at IAD (Dulles), but the experience is much more relaxed with just a few of you. You will go through security at MGW and immediately board the plane. Regarding your carry on, as long as your flight out of Dulles allows you a carryon of a specific size, you won't have a problem on the small plane from MGW to IAD. The plane is substantially roomier per-person than your flight from Dulles will be.
