So it's no news that Cex stores are hit and miss, from reprinted covers, to no manuals or getting scratched discs and on the flip side, finding that mint in box game at a decent price!
I shop there a lot and I don't usually bash or rant about them, we all know the score, but when this happened THREE times in one week, I had finally had enough!

I've used Cex stores a lot over the last few years but used it online for the first time last week. I ordered 4 items and was charged £2.95 delivery FOR EVERY ITEM.

Yes unfortunately it's standard postage now. I've sent dvds through the post and I think last time it was 2.92 per package. The only way to get cheaper postage is 'by weight' like music magpie it's 1.76 but they do weight postage and send them all at once where cex can't because it's loads of little stores instead of one big warehouse therefore can only use 'normal postage' And it'll only go up from here

Out of what CEX stores near me I tend to check on the likes of ebay & other places 1st if I'm looking for a new Graphics card for instance and more often than not ebay works out cheaper more often than not for such components. But as for not CEX not being able to take back an item because it was bought in a different store from what I under stand is incorrect.

I stopped going to CeX as I can't seem to justify it, was looking for a couple items, an Amazon Firestick and an Xbox for the new black ops. They were charging £38 for a firestick lite that's £35 brand new, £45 for a normal firestick that's £44.99 brand new, and both are regularly on sale brand new for half that. £230 for an Xbox that's £249 brand new. Once you add shipping for everything, considering it's all second-hand stuff, it gets worse. Seems like they've just started to prey on people that aren't that knowledgable to look around etc

Whilst I did in the video, I don't like bashing CeX too much, most of my games come from there and when it's good it's good, it's just the negatives sometimes add up. However I agree the prices have started to get silly recently, there's rarer games that are cheaper on ebay than in CeX because they've hiked the prices up! They're relying on people taking the store credit and being forced to spend it in the store. It's good business for them though, very clever, they know what they do and it obviously works!

Yeah, not long ago I was outside of a CeX looking at their stock and some guy was looking at PS5's. Game was doing a game bundle for a PS5 with god of war for £350 (Usually £400) and then you've got CeX selling the same model PS5 without anything other than a controller perhaps if you're lucky for £450-500, it's ridiculous. Get your shit new, it'll come with a warranty and you're likely to get it cheaper than what CeX will scalp you for. CeX *used* to be good.

Mate I've had 2 similar recently. I also went to 1 of my 2 local stores as they had GOTY force unleashed 1 in stock. I go there buy it, return to my car and something in my head just said check. Had a look, they had given me the vanilla disc! I went back they apologised and swapped the disc over. A week or 2 later they had GOTY red dead redemption in stock. Again I went in, got it. This time went home, wish I had checked and again had been given the vanilla disc. Went back, again apologies from staff but this time they didn't have the disc. They think someone probably gave the GOTY disc to someone buying the vanilla version. It's just rushed sales and mistakes will continue to happen

Really frustrating, I've started checking and asking with platinum, essentials, promo games etc. Just to be sure but sometimes you forget or don't have time etc. But the pricing errors isn't our fault, we should trust them to do their jobs properly

My point though is that you shouldn't have to. You wouldn't double take at game or if you went food shopping, you trust they're providing the service that they're offering.

@TomsToys95 Yeah, fair point, but we are dealing with morons so double taking is a must at CEX as I have found out before, and I never ever buy off their app, pick up only.

Lesson from the story always check what they give you and how much you've paid before you leave. Chances are the staff know even less that you. :)

Bottom line is CEX employees are not qualified/trained/have the insight of the finer details and nuances of the gaming sphere. I've encountered numerous fake cartridges, controllers etc. all traded in and "inspected".

@@HawkerXCi yeah I can understand this, but at the same though theres only so many categories they sell so it shouldn't be too difficult to learn it but I get some mistakes will be made, it was just frustrating as it was a lot so quickly 😅

I hate CEX. The most unhelpful company, don't live by the 2yr warranty. And just don't care. The people working some are great. Most are useless.

You say that but but they sell some good stuff, a lot is overpriced and you have issues but you can get some great deals at CeX compared to eBay prices.

I explained in the video that I am a PlayStation gamer and didn't know it was £32, I know the horizon games are worth money from reselling them hence why I thought £5 was a great deal

I've never been scammed by CeX but some of my cases have been broken but that happens from time to time in shipping or before people trade it

It's frustrating if its a rare game, however I've heard that you can swap them in-store sometimes as they either have spare cases or let you swap for another game

Morale of the story is not to trust them. Check you receipt and games before leaving as much as a pain that is!

I paid £72.95 (inc postage) for Bayonetta on Switch which is an uncommon UK/PAL game - they posted me a Japanese copy which isn't nearly as valuable. I was worried they would claim I was returning a different game to what I was sent. In store they said it wouldn't scan and it should not have been manually entered into their system to either buy or resell it. Thankfully they refunded me no issues.

Yeah, on the whole they're not bad at sorting the issues but it does get frustrating sometimes, I just know how mad you was when you opened it up to see that 🤣

Don't understand how cex ripped you off, seems they made a few mistakes and they rectified them for you. I get it's frustrating but you have to always check receipts and prices on games etc as they change them alot, also check the discs before you leave the shop to ensure you get the right ones.

Yes, they did rectify 2 of the problems, which I acknowledged at the end of the video and don't want to bash them too much but if I'd have not noticed then I'd have been overcharged £29 and had two wrong game discs, both worth less than the what I paid for, so in my opinion I think the title is fair! In future though I will start checking before I leave the store, I ship there all the time, it is what it is but this occasion was too many errors too quickly I felt it was justified a little rant haha! 😀

@@TomsToys95 to be fair, you should of noticed in the shop when the sales assistant told you the price, still cex staff should of noticed aswell, but mistakes do happen and cex make alot more than most, and generally the negative criticism they receive is justified, just thought you title was abit misleading as cex did sort two of your issues right away.... getting ripped off would of been cex refusing to rectify anything but hey that's just my opinion of course you are free to use what title you like, also I am not trying to be critical, so apologies if it seems as if i am.

i went to sell an XL stream deck there yesterday and its in PERFECT nick. they offered me £30 for it? they're crooks. they shouldn't be allowed to get a 70% profit of things they buy

Personally.. I nearly always ask to see the quality of the disc for scratches before I buy. Because if they have more than one copy why not find a good copy Just get into a habit of checking the games and receipt before you leave the store next time it will save you a lot of time and stress

I will be paying attention to the prices in the future at least! Whilst I should check, it's annoying that you have to! Staff should be taught the differences in games / versions etc. It seems not all of them are 😅
