In my humble opinion as a CFA charterholder, don’t be discouraged! Keep going! You will nail it eventually! Don’t study to pass but study for the sake of knowledge and enjoy the process of learning! Best wishes to you!!

Hi Kate, great video! I am a L3 retaker and found myself making some of the same mistakes you mentioned above. My recommendation would be to consider using a prep provider to supplement your studies. I used Mark Merldrum and Kaplan to pass both L1 and L2 on the first try. Best of luck on your CFA Journey!
Thanks kate, I'm going through the level 1 in my first attempt and I practically did books 1 and 2 the same way you did, then I searched for better study practices and find out that indeed reaptition is key. Your video helps me reassuring that those old practices who seem logical at first, might not be the cleverest way to do it.

I passed L1 (just missed the 90th percentile). Ur first point is mostly correct. Studying for L1 9 months in advance is a bad idea. On the flip side, only taking 2 months to prep for L1 is also a bad idea. Id shoot to start studying 4-5 months out from the exam. Considering that you are going for a second attempt, i dont think youll need the full 4-5 months to prepare for it. I would honestly just jump into the next available window

Quick opinion: try using the pdfs, so that way you can quickly copy-paste imp points to your private notes. Should save a lot of study time comparatively. I’m appearing for level 1 in may too btw.
Calculator is a very important point. I am doing the calculations using the calculator and excel. I would get some of the answers using excel but not with the calculator...so I am still trying to navigator my way around using it.
Exact same case with me, Kate. Failed Nov 2021. Going again for May 2022. The mistake I made was not enough practice. I just went through the curriculum and it was not sufficient.
oh i totally feel you, same happened with me. I couldnt imagine there are so many questions to go through. And i also think you need to do the practice questions at least twice to make sure all the knowledge settles in. Best of luck in your preparation!

i take the exam in august right after graduating from uni. I only have 6 weeks but i am sure that is more than enough if you can study every single day
firstly thanks for your recommendation . wanna ask is it enough Curricilium tests from websites and Kaplan tests solely for the exam? stand alone they nearly are 5K
hey! i used only the CFA curriculum without any extra materials. I heard Kaplan is good but i think there are enough practice questions in the official cfa prep as well

No, you cannot take anything to the exam, only the calculator. Funny thing is that they dont even allow you to take the water to the exam room, you have to leave it outside
