Nick Ware from BikeReview.com.au has been riding his long term CFMOTO 650MT for around six months. Nick needed a full sized LAMS bikes (he is 197cm tall) for daily use riding a 200km return trip to University, plus for some weekend adventure fun.
So far the bike has had some updates to improve it off road and touring with more planned for the future. COVID-19 restrictions mean Nick currently is limited by hpw far he can ride, including having to study from home, so the bike is not getting as many kilometres clocked up as we had hoped for this long term test. Hopefully we will make up for it over Summer.
In the meantime, here is the latest update on the bike…

Picked up a 2023 version of this. Very impressed with the bike. I do want to drop the front sprocket one tooth from stock. Make acceleration a little faster and drop the top speed.

Sounds good. We were considering the same but Nick was doing a lot of highway miles so left it stock.

I bought one of these two months ago and totally love it. Might keep it longer than planned. Be interesting to see what exhaust you end up getting. I’m only seeing Musarri GP series so far.

There's a mid pipe available in China called "Scorpiovic HP". Don't let the name put you off, I installed mine last night and to be honest it's pretty good. The welds are good, the exhaust fits properly and it can use pretty much any aftermarket can. Sounds great too. Lighter than the factory muffler.

Horrible scaffolding on it. I'd take the screen off. What's the suspension like on it? You answered the question. Cheap stuff, I'd imagine. Decent-looking bike. There is a CFMoto 3 km away from my house in northern Thailand.

@@user-sw2lv3zp6o the naked are all that way, I know some 180cm that love it. The suspension for road no problems, tad soft so I'm looking at adjusting it (front and rear are adjustable) and I've been told changing the oil in them makes a great difference. Well worth throwing a leg over for a try. Never saw any cfmotos in Isaan

@@rrw_au9584 I went to the CFMoto shop and they only have one example of one model in. They haven't heard about the 700 CL-X, and I noticed that they seemed to be mainly stocking some other Chinese brand. Small bikes, forget the name.

How much did CFMoto pay you to say good things? I have a 650GT and with only 6,800kms on the clock it's had endless problems.

Purchased last month. Due to rain could not drive much. Went on my first long drive last week and it stopped thrice on the freeway. Had to tow back to the dealer. I have done only 200Kms. They can't still figure out the problem. Luckily they experienced the same problem on a Test drive. I am expecting a replacement or refund. Let's see what happens.

@@ausbahind I've slowly replaced parts on mine with better ones. The aftermarket exhaust stops it from overheated, AFAM sprockets and DID VX3 chain have stopped the need to replace the factory items every 5,000kms, the vibrating windshield has been fixed after I changed the whole thing over for an electrically adjustable one, the clutch has been changed and I'm in the process of seeing if a Kawasaki cylinder head will be a direct swap.

It's the ABS working on a low friction surface . You have to use the front brake more and trust the ABS to work as it's design to do so . I've just purchased a cfmotor 650 MT and I did notice how active the rare ABS was on the bike riding on gravel roads you have to trust the front brake more to do its job without locking the front wheel to pull up on low traction surface. And I did notice using the front brake on gravel roads worked fine and there was no time when the front wheel tried to lock it just pulled up . But it would be better if you were able to switch off the back ABS when riding on gravel rides or off road tracks . I didn't even notice the ABS working a little bit on paved roads at times when pulling. I think the ABS is more sensitive on the back wheel than it needs to be but I but overall a great bike and I can't believe how smooth the engine runs for twin cylinder

Do you have a link to those crash bars, handguards, and bar risers you could share? These are super here to find currently here in the U.S. Anything would help!
