I will assume you are still under warranty.... Makes me wonder if all that is necessary... If the wear causes issue wouldn't you be able to have that done under warranty? I think this is maybe your hobby.. take it apart, put it back together.. hobby.. Love it.. I get it.. Great videos.. Keep them coming. :-)

I think he is a bit like me, an old mechanic that just wants things to be done right. Also there is always going to be a problem with wear and tare components that become contestable under warranty. If the dealer is a not good, they might not support the warranty. but I think the reason why he does this work is exactly what you identified and its good for the viewers for when the warranty runs out. 😀

What an excellent example of showing the minimal grease that is actually applied from the factory John! I could see the lower race looked as if water ingress had started to rust slightly. Surprisingly not seeing a thin steel plate & encapsulated rubber ring seal under the bearing? I wouldn’t have thought the balls would be loose! You definitely don’t want 1 of those to fly around the garage floor! Thanks for sharing! Edit: I think there is a seal!

I watched quite a few of your videos of the Ibex 800. I seriously consider buying one and your review videos are very interesting and helpful. I had a few R1200GSs and like the ADV bike ergonomics since I am tall. Right now I have a 1989 Yamaha Vmax which I fixed after setting for 12 years. As far as this video is concerned. I can't believe the Ibex has ball bearings instead of tapered roller bearings. The last time I seen ball bearings in that location was on my Kawasaki H2 almost 50 years ago. I am also from central MO.

Good to hear from you. The Ibex seems to be a pretty solid bike so far, it is pretty much all KTM 790 Adventure. The steering head bearings are the KTM design as well... Hope you get that new ride soon... thanks for watching... :)

I have been watching your videos to get an idea about cfmotos quality. I have a little Papio ss on the way, so i will have first hand exp soon. I am really considering placing order on the new 450 MT......... For now it blows everything out of the water in the under 200 kg adv offerings (i own Rally 300, took about $3000 to ger it sorted out). The ball bearings are the first neg thing i have seen on your bike, interesting you say its KTM set up. Thx

Honestly for me is easier to just take the thing apart, I would be very concerned of hitting something like the screen or chipping/denting something But hey if it works for you great

Great work John, must have a go doing my honda cb 500s it has 17k miles on the clock and is probably due attention. I do find if l take my hands off the grips it'll shake sometimes.

another great video.... do you do this annually, or did you do this just because it is a new bike and you have ridden it hard, or did you hit a certain mileage? Interesting stuff. I like to service my own bikes, but there are certian things on my Goldwing I let the shop do. It's just too much work to do in my garage and wrap it up in a couple of hours. It would take me days and the shop can do it in an hour or two. But, I am really thinking about selling one of my other bikes and getting IBEX, but it sure looks complicated, like this Goldwing.

Good to hear from you sir, I service all the bearings in my bikes every winter and also when I get a new bike I want to make sure the bearings are lubricated properly. I do not believe the Ibex is any more complicated or complex than any other motorcycle. The covers are a bit of a pain to get off but after removing them the first time I think I can get them off and back on fairly quickly. Once the covers are off the bike it is the same as pretty much any other bike... Thanks for watching and good luck with all your projects... :)
