Again John, exceptional explanation on servicing your own motorcycle whilst it’s cold & snowing during winter 👌 As I mentioned, it’s not because of poor materials, it’s the lack of grease from any of the manufacturers. They all are guilty of lean manufacturing. The rust from water ingress is either from river crossings & /or rain. Insufficient grease cannot protect the bearings with or without a dust seal or sealed bearings. Will you be checking the wear of the sleeves next winter after replacing the materials & re-applying grease? Edit: I think you need a hand press to press the bearings in rather than a hammer. The more needle bearings, the less wear will occur & minimise scoring the sleeve.

Enjoyed the video John. It seems alot of manufacturers skimp on grease, like in steering stem and swingarm bearings. RIDE SAFE OUT THERE! I honestly believe it would be a good idea to check the steering stem bearings.

Great Job John. I think instead of removing the bearings I would have used the sleeve as a retainer. Hind sight being 20/20 . BTW I serviced mine after watching your last video. They were well lubed from the factory but yu never know. I was able to service them with the wheel on. I just drove the center rod out far enough to do one side at a time.

Great video. The one thing i thought as you greased was compatibility between what came on them and what you added. When unsure of compatibility, rinse and have a single grease is preferred.

Great video again John, if CF moto is basically a KTM I wonder why the bearings are slightly different..

After watching the first video, I just repacked my swingarm bearings yesterday. Virtually no lube. But no rust or wear. So I'm hoping now it won't be an issue. Next is the steering bearings. You've been a great help. I still would have liked for you to do a chain replacement video as it's pretty vague on just where the tention is measured. But I did that yesterday as well, so I think I have it figured out by cutting a pvc pipe at the minimum and making sure it's slides in easily.

While watching you, I was thinking of the U-Joint press that’s sitting idle in my box. I would have lent it to you, but you’re a little far away. And warming it up a bit will help too.

Great work 👏 The bearings otta be sealed better before leaving the factory imo . All motorcycles not just Adventure bikes ride through floods and swing arms on all bikes considering the abuse they take, should be better prepared. Well spotted John and thanks for exposing manufacturer's weaknesses

Hi, can you make an video for correct wheels installation and chain alignment. The axle, brake caliper tightening for front wheel and rear wheel chain adjust markings are not self explained or precise, Just wondering, by tightening rear axle, the axle markings plate always moves?

I really like your videos on cfmoto ibex 800. One topic on the bike I haven't heard you speak much about is the poor fuel mapping on the bike and its choppy throttle response at certain rpm. Do you have any thoughts on that subject you can share with us interested viewers in this bike to put us a ease that this won't be an aggravating issue if we buy one.Thanks,

hey there sir, good to hear from you. Yes I spoke quite a bit about the fuel mapping on my 5000 mile review video... check it out here... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0jp3uM6fjWU.html Thanks for watching... :)

You should invest in a small press. Then you could press the bearings in without needing to remove the rollers. Also, use the inner sleeve so the needles don't need to be removed.

hello there sir, all is well here other than the weather. I have added a new bike to the stable but am waiting on some parts to arrive before doing a video on it. Have not been able to get out this winter but hope things turn around soon... thanks for watching... :)

My question is would any of this have been covered under warranty? If you had found the bearings were not lubed could you take it to the dealer and make them do it. I know it seems you have a lot of knowledge on working on bikes and maybe enjoy it. Just bought one today and now wondering if i could get the dealer to look at them.
@ozarksbackroads5484
@ozarksbackroads5484 8 месяцев назад
Hello there sir, congrats on your new ride... Yes I probably would have been able to get the dealer to replace the bearings but that would run contrary to the whole point of my channel... I would not want anyone working on my bike besides myself... OCD I suppose. Enjoy that new bike and keep safe out there... :)
