The comments here are pretty thankless. This man is giving you knowledge for free, he doesn’t owe you shit. Thank you Tony, these videos have been very helpful and the quality is worth the wait!🙏
This really helps me understand why renderings are split up in direct and indirect light, why indirect passes often have way more noise and how to work with them on a artistic level and change the look and contrast. So cool, thanks for sharing!
Thanks as always Tony. Neat trick with the noise averaging! 😇Wondering if there's a way to solve the edge parallax issue with a cryptomatte/find edges and the zdepth pass defining the strength. When I get a chance I'll have a play!
Thank you for this valuable video, but there is one thing I regret. I don't know if it is worth taking the time to learn about this when we have the reality of artificial intelligence in front of us.
Oh it's worth it. AI can't do everything. In fact, AI tends to make more cleanup work than it's worth, so AOV multipass rendering knowledge is more important now than ever.
Machine Learning ('ML', which is what most people confuse with the incorrect term 'AI') may be in front of us, but it is much farther down the road that what most people think. VFX is still very much going to be in proper use for many years to come. And even when ML gets to a point that it can be integrated at a meaningful level, we will still need to comp in CG.
