Because they aren't controlled by corporations trying to make a product appeal to a mass amount of people.

One day, independent and amateur animation and CGI will start to topple Hollywood's monopoly. Individuals and small groups have the freedom to write and produce whatever they want and are passionate about. Technology is gradually bridging the gap, giving individuals increasingly powerful and economical tools. Though difficult and rarely achieved, independent animation can garner success. Rooster Teeth is testament to this. Hollywood's motivation is money, not telling a good story. Studio execs and investors are afraid to take risks on anything new. That's why so many films and shows are derivative, remakes, or based on bestselling novels, established franchises, and popular themes - because they think those more likely to sell. Also, genres like comedy, drama, reality tv and documentaries are, comparatively, many times cheaper to produce. That describes many of the film flops of 2016. The public grows bored of inferior, cheap, predictable fare. And many can only stomach so much reality TV, comic book heroes, zombie apocalypse or time travel stuff before it becomes stale. Consider, too, the growth of webcomics. Clearly, the public has a thirst for fresh, original stories and ideas. Sadly, the sudden drop in Google ad revenue several years ago slowed webcomic growth as many now rely on Patreon to keep going. Similarly, I worry that the 2017 RU-vid Ad Boycott will slow the growth of high quality content. I've heard that video creators are seeing a decline in revenue and RU-vid is policing it over-zealously.

tdivv41 When a channel reach 100k subs it´s big enough for the "Grief" army to arrive. They actually jump from video to video disliking all day. I watched video´s where people wonder how they can get a dislike on a 8 min video 10 seconds after it´s uploaded :) Well the explanation is Grief Army. And yes i agree, there should´nt be any dislikes on this short anim.

So sad. Shame on them. I guess some people in the world simply loves misery and company. The "Grief Army" you speak of, reminds me of "Monsters Inc" and the moral to the story...why Frighten when you can receive so much more (positive energy) through laughter. Whelp, I guess we all are a reflection of the company we keep and thus you have us, "Team Joy or aka Joy Army!" We offer positive support and thumbs ups! Cheers!
