Elevator Action review. Classic Game Room presents a CGR Undertow review of Elevator Action for the Nintendo Entertainment System developed and published by Taito.
Elevator Action is one of the greatest arcade games ever released, and it’s even better on the Game Boy. Unfortunately, the NES version is the least of the three versions, but it’s still a classic game well worth having in your collection. Players play as a secret agent tasked with stealing sensitive documents from a building and escaping through the front door. So much for secrecy, huh? This version is a straightforward recreation of the arcade original, where the Game Boy version actually makes some interesting additions. Elevator Action is a single-player and local multiplayer game on the NES.

From the brief era when Taito could do no wrong in the arcades. Elevator Action, Space Dungeon, Zoo Keeper, Alpine Ski. Jungle Hunt,..and several more I KNOW I'm forgetting, all with the same graphics chipset, cabinet style and control board layout. Home gaming simply doesn't compare to hanging out with 130 other strangers in an arcade, jam packed so tight you could barely move around, and people reserved their turns on the games by putting quarters on the top marquee. =)

***** Yup, they all did, too. And so did Namco, Exidy, Capcom and Bally. That covers 90% of all the huge arcade hits from 1978-1984, or thereabouts. The other 10% was thanks to a bunch of minor developers like Nichibitsu, who did Moon Cresta and Crazy Climber, who were no less important. I need to build a full MAME upright arcade box at my house -- that's all there is to it!
