Construction started in the early 90's . I saw the first few stones being placed there back in the day , amazing evolution through hard work ever since !!! Greetings from France
My brother and I both watched the BBC (2014) docu and wanted to visit. Went here last week, it is perfect, it really helps if you speak french but it is not a must. It is an awesome place to visit, a perfect combination of open air museum and actual 13th century castle. The water mill was a nice addition. Like the Sagrada, I wouldn't mind visiting them again and again, they've been building this starting 1997! It took a quarter of a century to get where they are and it really shows.

Ça va être un choc quand il sera peint et décoré, on a pas l'habitude mais c'est absolument comme ça qu'ils étaient, peints avec des couleurs vives, des ornements, des décorations. Vivants, quoi,
20 years later and I finally saw it in 2019 right before the covid pandemic lockdown... can't wait to go back and see it now in 2021 since it has reopened again. One of the great wonders of the world!

Thank you very much, I've just finished watching a documentary series regarding building this very Castle and this was timed perfectly, because now I can see the "almost" finished project.
J'ai visité le chantier en septembre 2009. Je me souviens de ma conversation avec un charpentier : c'était passionnant ! On pouvait voir les artisans travailler avec les méthodes et les outils du moyen âge et leur parler ! Un grand souvenir.
It's important to mention that you return to the present after work. I guess they had a few hippies who thought they could ignore the modern world, but that doesn't work out. And, as they explained, they want to discover how medieval craftsmanship was done, not how people of the time got into accidents. :)
Don’t wait till it’s finished. I’ve worked on it as a volunteer Batisseur and seeing how it’s being built is a really important and fascinating part of any visit.
J'ai visité Guédelon il y a 15ans, à l'époque, la grande salle sortait tout juste de terre et la tour que l'on voit finie aujourd'hui ressemblait à celle en construction !
@ celle à 0:54 ? Avec les echafaudages en bois ? Je ne crois pas , non. Telle quelle, elle ne correspond pas aux plans initiaux. A moins qu'ils aient changé ? Je crois qu'il y a une couverture metallique provisoire, non ?
This project simply fascinated me. I admire so much the work that these artisans are doing here. I would love to see it...if only a cool documentary when it's done.

Bonjour Hubert, merci ! Depuis quelques temps je filme uniquement avec le DJI Osmo Pocket en 4K 50fps et D-Clike (+ filtres PolaPro) et le Mavic 2 Pro. Je suis en quête de mon futur hybride photo/vidéo (sans doute le Sony A7IV à venir). Etalonnage et montage avec DaVinci Resolve Studio.
Je visite le chantier de Guédelon tous les 3 ans pour voir l'évolution et je suis impressionné à chaque visite! Vivement qu'il soit fini! A visiter je recommande!
bonjour , moi je suis allés le visités , en 2012 et il y avait que la chapelle est les deux tour du fond. et la nous sommes en 2020 mois je dit chapeaux au bâtisseur des châteaux du moyens ages , car il sont sus recréer avec tout l équipe que sa sois les maçons les charpentiers les maître d œuvres les forgerons et tout l équipe de Guédelons un très beaux travaille car il devait le construire en 25 ans depuis les année 1997... BRAVO pour eux
J'y étais bâtisseur en 2016 et 2017, c'était génial, merci pour cette mise à jour magnifique ! C'est une super qualité, j'adore voir le progrès ! Je dois y retourner un jour et retrouver les 5 ou 6 pierres visibles de l'extérieur que j'ai posé. J'ai fait l'hamstères, j'ai fait monter de l'eau du puit, je me suis fait expliquer par Florian que tailler des pierres, c'est faire de la musique, il faut garder un rythme. Mes meilleurs souvenirs...
Assez triste de voir ce lieux habituellement vivant, vide à cause de la pandémie... J'espère qu'ils réussiront à achever les travaux en 2025, comme prévu. J'ai tellement hâte de voir le château terminé et j'espère pouvoir suivre et visiter par la suite la construction du village médiéval. Merci pour cette belle vidéo.

Das solltest auf alle Fälle ! Auch ich sah die ersten Grundlinen und was da folgte , bis ich in 2017 auf einer Tour wegen einer Städtepartenerschaft dort vorbei kam. Da waren die Wege für die "störenden" Besucher noch uneben. Nun sehe ich mit Begeisterung die Amateurfilme und die offiziellen ( mit englischem Unterrtitel !) Demnächst geht's wieder dort hin !

Hahaha, je suis également très étonné par l'enthousiasme mondial que génère ce beau projet. J'en ai eu connaissance au début par hasard. Cet été fut ma première visite et je fus enchanté. J'en ai profité pour découvrir d'autres beaux endroits (château de Saint-Fargeau, parc de Boutissaint, Vézelay).
Been following this project after watching the BBC series Secrets of the Castle..very interested to see what the progress has been like..thank you for posting!

Hola du châtio...c'é ti qué la peste s'rait vot' visiteuse du soir. Pour être plus sérieux, ces images montrent une vie au ralentit comme hors du temps, pourtant, elles sont dans notre temps, l' actuel, lui aussi hors du temps !
Erst dachte ich, "Oh, es sind kaum Leute zu sehen, wie wird es der Baustelle ergehen in diesem Jahr." Dann hörte ich das vertraute klingklang der Meißel und war erleichtert! Ich will unbedingt hin und Pläne das schon seit Jahren, immer war irgendwas dazwischen gekommen. Aber aufgeschoben ist nicht aufgehoben :D
Super geworden und verdammt schnell,bin überrascht und ich hätte gerne viel mehr über das wachsen der Anlage mitbekommen,stellt bitte alles Videomaterial ein. Danke ,ein Fan.
I like to see it finished, it would be nice to if they build a town in 13th cent style in front of it, to totally feel back in the past, if you know what i mean

Grand merci. Le site y fait pour beaucoup. Cette vidéo dépasse les 20k alors que ma chaine est juste pour mes proches. C'est dire l'engouement autour de Guédelon.

@@Good4love Merci pour vos encouragements et conseils. Oui, je ne suis pas très bon côté son. Là c'est filmé avec l'Osmo Pocket (image bluffante tout de même) et donc le son n'est vraiment pas terrible. Je n'ai pas pris le temps de faire des enregistrements audio à côté. Je viens de passer au Lumix S5 avec un micro Rode Videomic pour travailler l'audio.
Je trouve tres beau ce qu'ils ont fait, et tres fort comme exploit. Mais je ne peux m'empecher de penser, que pour un chateau fort, il ne monte pas assez haut, pour pouvoir etre defendu correctement. Si un jour, d'autres veulent prendre la suite, ils devraient essayer de le monter nettement plus. Au moins le double.
C'est formidable mais je regarde calmement et désespéré les moulins d'Anjou s'effondrer sur eux même alorsssss que toutes ces petites mains aux doigts d'or pourraient les sauver 😭
Hmm Just wondering what did they use the Tractor for at 5:48 ? I get that some shortcuts can be made, but wasn't the entire point to make it all from scratch like they would have in ancient times? It's an Interesting project, on I hope to see within the next few years

Well spotted, I didn't see that. Yeah, you wear safety work shoes, there are nets everywhere and most wood constructions are made with modern steel bolts. "We want to learn about how people worked at the time, not how they got injured or died." ;)
@@ThePixel1983 it does sound interesting, will try to remember that for next year. Or who knows maybe this fall. What are the requirements? sadly while i've had french in school i'm no good at it, though i suppose knowing a few words is better than none
@@StoneTitan You should understand enough to avoid risking getting hurt. That said, I met one German guy there who, at the end of the week, managed to count to 10 in French. :)
Could you please offer English subtitles when your series begins again? I'd like to be able to enjoy it too.

Hello dear Susan, actually i am a simple visitor and i do not belong to the staff of Guedelon. Then, i am not involved in the series. Otherwise my videos are almost always with no speaking. Regards.
So far it's only the castle and the workshops, but I think they talked about starting a village or a small church after the castle is finished. Really worth a visit, if you speak a small bit of french you can even work there for up to a week (costing you 6€ per day I think).
