You are so right. No matter how old you are you still want to have your parents approval, advice, love. I lost my parents in my 60's and miss them to talk to. Love your stories, talks, demos, keep up the great job!
Rob, can you get those fake plastic owls to put on your roof? They might keep the birds away. You have enough nooks in your roof that you could hide from view. This is what we do in Texas to keep all the birds out of the barn. Just. thought. Loved the video.
Your guest room is really beautiful! The architecture is unique and thoses windows, Oh my!!! what a beauty. This wallpaper and color paint fit perfectly in that charming room. Concerning your draperies, yes it's expensive but if you keep them in a neutral color (cream, ivory) it's going to fit in any other room in the future. I have done that brillant choice for my last house and I do not regret the price we spent on them. Now, the are perfect again in our Dining room. Make sure they are drape inside to protect them from the sun. At this price, it worth it and you will not regret your choice. I will be happy to follow your work. Good continuity. From Canada
Rob, you are the most optimistic man I have ever listened to or watched. Whether it’s chateau, wallpaper, china cabinet, uncle Glen, lighting, etc. You are just happy about it all. ❤️ it.
I love the birds on the wallpaper but I think a more colorful wallpaper like the previous one would be nicer. Same with the ladies bedroom in the basement
The way the paint flakes on cornices again suggests an oil, rather than a water based paint was used at some point (water and oil based paints used on top of eachother). Always always always use water based paint. Also plastered walls must be painted with water based AND LIME paint, to remain breathable. But you know all that! Keep going 👍👍👍 v enjoyable channel.
I think Billy may be near you. I love the Blue in the boys room. I cried when you shared about family. I still remember the day you lost your parents and when Leslie lost her mom. 😢 thanks for the reminder about family. It is amazing to find out what our kids think about our choices. Even if they hurt from them they are still glad we followed the Spirts leading. Im so glad you did. You both are amazing .
That guest suite is beautifully done. I don't think the peonies are tree peonies, I think they're something actually a bit more interesting, I think they're an herbaceous peony species (not a hybrid) that has spread out there, which is a super thing. And what a carpet of cyclamens growing along with them! Just loved the camellias, especially that double one which has a beautiful form.
Congratulations the room looks great and Rob made it out onto the roof! The drain is clear…Gosh we got to get those birds out of the house! Now that it’s finally drying out. You’re right so much this week 👍🏻 😊
It is such a joy watching your episodes on Sundays and now on Wednesdays as well. The two of you are doing such hard good work for the youth and The Kingdom of God. God Bless the two of you 💖
Nice job on the guest bedroom. Elegant room. Love the wallpaper. So much drama with the high ceilings. I think you'll find drapes. Yeah on clearing the drain pipe. Hope rest of the debris is cleared with the next rain. Missed an Easter message this year. The pastor in you will always be there. Have a good week!
Wow! You are both so awesome! It looks incredible. Love it all! So majestic! Interesting you're using wallpaper with birds. Apart from being beautiful, the Lord is using birds to speak to numerous people right now! For me it's the Kingfisher. As a fisher of men for the King, it makes sense. What are the birds on the paper? Do you know what they symbolise? Be interesting to know. If they are finch's, they symbolise Christ's passion. And you definitely are sharing that with the students and with us. Birds rely on our Heavenly Father to feed them, and provide shelter. You keep me inspired! Thank you for sharing.
The paper and trim colours in the guest room are beautiful and complement each other so well ❤ Just make sure that the two of you don't overwork yourselves ❤❤
Wallpaper is beautiful..brightens the room..the chateau is really looking like your home! So happy you two have family coming..should be so exciting to show them what you and leslie have accomplished in really a short time..and how beautiful your home has become..they will be so amazed and proud of you two..owning such a beautiful chateau. Thanks for sharing your adventure!
The guest room is gorgeous! Great work on the wallpaper, it's so pretty! In the bathroom, Rob mentioned the encaustic tiles not staying clean. There are sealers that help a great deal with that!
Another great video.Glad you had family come to visit and help you guys out how special. Those birds are nothing but trouble makers inside your beautiful chateau.
The clearing out of the apocalypse downspout was my favorite part, as your having to continue to deal with the aftermath of the new roof I guess remains foremost in my mind--phew! And you said some poignant things about family--better to have no parents anymore than ones that never loved you, and still don't, like mine who are in their 90s. Our TRUE family is an eternal one, and not necessarily close by blood, which is the perspective that keeps me sane. Glad you guys have so much good extended family still.
The wallpaper is so beautiful...in the right light the pattern almost looks 3-D. Very thankful that the mystery of the Apocalypse downspout is now safely taken care of. Can't wait for Thursday!
So nice to see the peonies blooming 😊 The wall repair, painting and wallpapering all looks so great. You’ve done so much since you’ve been back. Great job!
Wow you are doing a great job guys. The guest room looks beautiful and I bet the views from the roof were fabulous. You are very brave going out there. Both of you take time to rest and get motivated for the next challenges ahead. Story Sunday was beautiful as always ❤❤❤
The guest room looks so pretty. Love the wallpaper. Do you need curtains? Do the shutters close? The bathroom looks great too. In the other room, is the mold from before you fixed the roof? So enjoyed the roof footage!! Can’t wait to see what you do with the attic. Your positivity and outlook on life is beautiful! 😊☀️🌻
Your hard work is paying off. It is looking beautiful! I really enjoy watching your videos. After watching so many château DIY shows, it appears that the best and easiest way to restore the floors is to use a large drywall sander that hooks up to your vacuum cleaner and sand the floors down and then use Osmo wax sealer to seal it, and it looks as if you have varnished it. They turn out absolutely beautiful. Of course, if you have a local place where you can rent a regular floor sander that would probably be faster, but I’m not so sure if it would be cheaper, it depends on the prices in France. Osmo wax sealer is so much easier to maintain because when it starts wearing, all you do is just put another coat on. Unlike varnish, It has to be sanded off. You can see examples of this on last weeks “ The Pethericks” RU-vid vlog because they are refinishing the floors in their château. Just thought that might give you some ideas of a quick and easy fix for the floors.
Lesley great job and foresight for this room, Rob is a great assistant and one working machine. It is important that you take a break when you can, the room now looks fantastic, the two window architraves is there one there that is blanked or covered? The drawings look like parts of the old Amusement buildings? Anyway thank you once again for another most wonderful episode 😇🙏👍🏰🇫🇷
Rob I recommend the SEBO canister vacuum. Having a professional cleaning business I used it for 20 houses. Replacement parts are readily available. It has hepa filters. It uses bags and I was able to make this more economical by cutting bottom of the bag when full. After emptying the bag I would reseal it with duct tape. I could get two to three uses per bag. This vacuum will be a life changer for you guys. I would have to buy replacement vacuums often before I purchased my SEBO. The guest room looks wonderful.
Hello, That room looks amazing!! Have you thought about talking to others who are renovating chateaus to see where they are getting their drapes. I seem to remember The Pethericks having a friend do the drapes in their dinning room. Maybe there is someone out there with some ideas with options for fabric and costs. Just a thought, keep up the great work!
Love the bedroom wallpaper. Leslie’s painting looks great with it. I wish I lived in your area I would volunteer to go up to the attic area and sweep and clean it up for you. I know it’s impossible to get this done when you have so many other higher priorities so please don’t take this as criticism. It’s just something I wish I could do for you. Maybe someone living closer to you might offer to help with this. Love your channel and admire your vision and perseverance. Still watching from PA. USA.
You should try to connect with the other château’s they help each other out, help look out for things at brocantes and they have started doing this swap thing were they exchange things they no longer need like 14’ curtains.
I just lost my mom a couple weeks ago, and when both parents are gone there is a feeling if a missing umbrella. I know both my parents prayed for me daily. I will say I found a book of prompts for writing about your life in her things and was very disappointed to find it unused. Hint to anyone with children - take the time to fill out something like that! We think we’ll remember the family stories but time has a way of blurring memories. Glad you had family time Rob and Leslie!
You might want to get in contact with Billy Petherick about that big hotel reception desk. He’s planning a reception room in that convent he’s renovating.
On Easter Sunday, I had your vlog playing when my daughter arrived and when you showed the wallpaper we both jumped and looked at each other😮 The pattern is very very similar to the drapes I had gotten for my living room on Amazon 😂 Love how the room is coming together!
The downspout is lead? Do you wear protective gear when working with/around lead? My cousin owns a heritage home in N. Dakota and, in the process of renovating, got lead poisoning. He has a Ph.D. in neurophysics, and he lost his ability to function for a time. Please be careful!
Rob!!!! And Leslie ❤ Rob you should offer zoom classes teaching your Christian wisdom, I would love an opportunity to be a student being a new baby Christian. Oh and yes the room is beautiful, I love in your past video talking about how GOD solutions to all your human problems…I to love that aspect of my relationship with GOD, turning to HIM when I’m sad, confused or scared, all I do is give it over and I know with faith of a mustard seed HIS solution is on its way… those bits of wisdom is what would be a gift to learn from your decades of knowledge. Just throwing it out there… sign me up.
Thanks for your efforts and the family love is the most important part of your vlog . I have lost my Mom , Dad and now my sister so I am alone in this world . my kids and grands are an estranged for divorce reasons I did not want divorce but sometimes God sends you in opposite directions for a reason.
IKEA curtains, add a border at the bottom or sew two panels together? Or sheers? I know it's not simple due to the scale. I can only imagine the struggle but I'm confident Leslie will overcome/prevail beautifully.
