@@KoriHarlan I've been behind the scenes at the stables. Yes I belong to the inner circle of show horses. Cut tail muscles, ginger in their anus. Acid on the fetlocks. Elevated shoes Living in a cupper. Stating what is done. I was in a stable after their mare won Grand Championship. They were uncliping the elevated shoes. And I saw a tail being cut. Blood running down the guys arms. Not looking for trouble, just stating what I've seen. My foal (colt) was a grand son of Wing Commander. I didn't show my saddlebreds. Just pleasure horses. But bred good to good.

I was reading some of the earlier comments left here. A beautiful horse is a beautiful horse no matter what breed or discipline. Real horse people can appreciate the beauty in all breeds, even if they are slightly biased toward one breed or discipline in particular. But in order for a horse to be at it's best in the show ring and even riding at home, it takes the right kind of rider to assist the horse in becoming the best he/she can. Eleanor and Sprinkles are no exception.

She is a Beautiful mare, she's just stunning!!! From way she moves, right down to her confirmation. I found out Breyer had made a model of her and I went out an bought one, then I bought another. Just an absolute gorgeous American Saddlebred Mare, I can see why Sprinkles is a champion. Way to go CH Sprinkles keep up the good work, show what you got and what you can do!

One energetic athlete! I used to ride a NSH and loved her. So forward and light. It's hard for someone who's never worked with a Saddlebred to understand their fiery look which really is combined with a soft nature. A lot of gaited horses look very hot, but are truly easy to train and ride because they are people oriented and mushy on the inside. At least that's been my experience. I must add, however, I could not "cut" or set a tail. This is a wonderful example of a Saddlebred! Hello from Otta

She is NOT AFRAID. She has been doing this for years now, and is one of the best in the industry, she just unanimously won 2 competitive 5 gaited pony class at the worlds championships horse show. She is at a awesome barn, an I'm sure that they take great care of her. I understand that saddleseat can look strange to people that don't know a lot about it, but if you ask someone that does,

Anyone that says that Sprinkles is sored, in pain when she slow gaits/ racks, you are wrong. She is so talented you wouldn't believe. She is at one of the best stables out there, and I'm sure gets excellent care. Anyone that doesn't understand these gaits or the saddlebred in general should ask a professional, or better yet, don't comment if you don't know.

This horse is loving to show. People really need to learn more about our breed before they open their big mouths. My horse doesnt have a cut tail, have NEVER seen soring in the saddlebred breed - these are well loved, spoiled horses whose owners, most of the time, sacrifice to be able to enjoy them and show them to their capacity. I have a gelding that did not enjoy showing and he is home and loving it. My show horse likes to be showy!!

Yes, the Racking Horse is a breed. They have their own breeders association. Google Racking Horse, go to their breed registry web site, or if you read on Wikipedia, you will read that the breed was recognized by the USDA in 1978, and that the Breed Registry was formed in 1971. The Racking Horse is the Alabama state horse breed as well.

The straps next to the tail are being cut, those straps keep the tail down naturally,.. and then they get the tail for a long time in a tube held up. And so the tail will grow up in that direction. This is normal to you? natural? and then these methods.• Whole heavy chains to the legs of the horses.• Extremely thick batter smear on the sensitive areas of the hoof of the horse.

Most saddlebreds are not gaited, so only the best ones are. These horses have a natural ability to do this, so minimal training actually makes them do the gait, the trainers normally just help to teach the horse to be consistent in the gaits. We really can't teach them to do it, ( it is very difficult to completely teach them) the gaited horses can be picked out as babies, because a trained eye can tell when they posses a natural athletic ability to slow gait and rack. Hope this helped you!

Sprinkles is watching the camera at all times. She is looking at it, not frightened. She is enjoying her work and while gaited horses might not be for everyone, she is sound and having fun. Perhaps look closer at the Tennessee Walkers if you want to see soring, weighted unnatural built up shoes and ugly squatting waddling back end gaits. Sprinkles isn't being forced, she's got natural high action, some breeds just do.
@saturnstorm85
@saturnstorm85 11 лет назад
Its natural- gaited breeds pass down those movements in their bloodlines. Sprinkles has 5 gaited ASB's in her family tree. The lateral movements come from the motor strip in the brain. The trainer has to teach the horse the cues so he knows when his rider wants him to walk, trot, canter, slow gait, or rack. Also the horse requires exercise to maintain and improve his movements, as well as his physical health, like any human athlete.

@OriginalDelphina okay seriously?? it takes SOOOO much skill to ride these horses! i've been riding saddlebreds my whole life, but i still learn something new each time i ride one. and as for the bit, there are two of them: one a typical snaffle and the other a curb. there is nothing "abnormal" about it.
@Synna89
@Synna89 11 лет назад
If you have soft enough hands, you don't need the noseband to keep contact! The horse opens his mouth to avoid pain, so if you don't give him pain, he won't try to open the mouth and avoid contact. Yes, I did say that, and your point is? Just because I say two breeds are bred to be energetic, doesn't mean I say everything about them are the same! But if people can ride the energetic iceys with a soft bit, you can do the same with these. Because the ENERGY LEVEL is the same.
@spiritedkitty
@spiritedkitty 11 лет назад
This is an American Saddlebred horse, but to get that "Big Lick" high step, this horse looks just like a sored Tennessee Walking horse in the horse's movements. Also the horse has one of the most severe bits. You can see the long bit shanks. The longer the shanks, the more pressure and pain inflicted on the mouth of the horse. Check out Rick Gore's video explaining about snaffle bits and such. I don't know why the Humane Society isn't looking into these horse training methods. YET!!!
@Synna89
@Synna89 11 лет назад
.. Also, I've worked at a racetrack. The galope horses are EXTREMELY energetic, but they still listen to when you hold them back, cause they're trained to. The one I was working with had a normal bit, not a strong one. There are NO excuses for strong bits. If you really have soft hands, then why do you even need that bit? And calling me a blubbering idiot is a personal attack. Which says more about you and how few arguments you actually have. Won't see me sinking to your level.

It's natural because the horses naturally lift their feet, and the weights are not much, less than 20 ounces, and not all saddlebreds even use the weights, just plain shoes, and still lift their feet just as high.

trust me anyone that shows saddlebreds know that you spend a lot more obey than you make. It is about the love of the sport. Like I said, although I love my saddlebred shows and horses, if I got an inkling that the horses were in pain, I would not support it. All I ask of anyone on this issue is please find info from someone who has experience before you comment things that are not truthful.
@LunaAsb
@LunaAsb 11 лет назад
You know what's funny? I am also a lot younger than you. I'm 15. But I know the truth. Saddlebreds are NOT abused, and that can be proven. The saddlebred community and especially the saddlebred show community is a very tight knit group, and we always stand up for each other and the horses we love. Just because I am a teenager doesn't mean I don't know what I am talking about.

Information from Wikipedia: "In the mid 1900s, Racking horse enthusiasts formed their own group, the Racking Horse Breeders Association of America, and their breed was recognized by the United States Department of Agriculture as separate from the Tennessee Walking Horse in 1971. In 1975, the Racking Horse was designated the official state horse of Alabama." I have a friend that owns a racking horse, and I asked her if this was correct, she said it was, she also asked her trainer who agrees.

@Synna89
@Synna89 11 лет назад
.. When it comes to nosebands, they hide the symptom of the bit. When a horse gets pain from the bit, he opens his mouth. A noseband forces the horses mouth shut instead. Doesn't remove the problem, only the symptom. If you truly have calm enough hands, you don't need a nose band, as the horse will not open his mouth. Look up the video: "Effects of the bit".. I never said icelandics and saddle breeds were the same. You are putting words in my mouth. I only said both are bred to have high energy!

We have saddle horses, hunters, western pleasure horses, carriage horses, pleasure driving horses and reining horses. And it's not unnatural. She just laughed and said "If we were showing for money, nobody would do it!" Honey, you can spend $100+ dollars just to go to a show. You pay for a stall, feed, shavings to go in the stall, and entry fees. That's not even counting food, gas and tack! And the bigger the show, the bigger the cost. (More expensive entry fees, stalls, etc...) I don't care what show you go to, you are never going to make back what you spend. It's all about fun.

Some of you should study biomechanics and how healthy posture/gaits should look like. Of course some horses with a steep shoulder cannot lift its legs as high as others with a different shoulder (dont know the term in english). This horses back is not rounded but hollow, and weight or high shoes - it really scares me that some people say this is normal, and also this unnatural gait. Just like the Wonderhorse Tortillas (he cost over 10 Million Euros, probably close to 15 Million Dollars), he lifts his front legs way high and his rear is somewhere in Mexico. But to some it looks great, although this is not correct. No wonder he had issues with lameness and has not been heard of again.

He retired and happily breeding mares right now. I havent heard about lameness he had. I dont find any things about. Here. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Totilas and He is not ASB. He is bred to do dressage. He is DWB Dutch Warmblood Stallion A Dutch Warmblood is a warmblood type of horse registered with the Koninklijk Warmbloed Paardenstamboek Nederland (Royal Warmblood Studbook of the Netherlands (KWPN),[1] which governs the breeding of competitive dressage and show jumping horses, as well as the show harness horse and Gelderlander, and a hunter studbook in North America. Just to let you know, more white in the eye is a desired look. The trait is specifically bred in. This horse sin't in pain, it isn't abused. The horse has natural motion and a natural head set that the trainer simply makes her use. Trust me, this is a very expensive horse, probably 80-100k. It is living a luxury filled life in a luxurious stable.

I think it's wrong to use both harsh bits AND strong bits. Because they are meant to put a lot of pressure in the horses mouth. And believe me, I know about horses meant to have lots of energy. I have an icelandic horse, and those show ponies are ALSO meant to have lots of energy and lift their legs high. But you can still see people riding them with normal, soft bits and without nosebands. And those that don't, well, I'm against that too!

Same reason people use martingales or other training aids. To exaggerate something that's already there. Every discipline exaggerates movements. A horse may be able to jump naturally, but they would not jump 5-6 ft though they can. Saddleseat horses do have natural action, the shoes just help it become flashier and more consistent.

The horses hold there necks up because that is how they are built. There is no one size fits all anatomy for a horse. Just like people, every breed has a different build. Some people are tall some people are short, some are slender, some are stocky. It's the same way with horses. Yes, if a quarter horse was supposed to hold their neck up like that, that would hurt. But they don't because they are not built that way. Saddlebreds are. I have a show horse myself. (my profile picture)

How is she in pain?? What do you know about saddlebreds? Have you ever even ridden one or visited a stable? She is very smooth at the trot. There are absolutely no signs of pain. Learn something about the breed before you decide she is in pain. She was bred to do this. It is completely natural to her.

The whites in her eyes are NOT fear. Some ASBs are born with it. It's just like some horses have blue eyes. Rare, but not bad. Sprinkles, like many and most ASBs loves her job. These horses are loving and compassionate. We love them to death and we DO NOT sore, big lick, etc. the basic training? Chains on only the front feet, usually weighing 6-8 ounces a chain. 1200LB horse >12 ounces. And the full bridles are not abusive. So, rollkur and soring , but bridles

And indeed, there are too many things I do not know. I will look into it I promise. But there are also many things you do not know. What do you know for example about the anatomy of the horse? The neck vertebrae? The way your horses hold their neck can not be natural because that simply causes tension in the neck just behind the ears.but I will make a video of all the things I know.. maby you can learn also something of me than. I am very busy at the moment but let you know when it's ready.

If it didn't exist, why is the AVMA's policy against soring listing racking horses as one of the breeds being sored?
