Oh, this is really old, I used to use this kind of machine for my presentations as a graphic designer student back in the 80s, they were sold by Pantone, I can't believe they are selling it as a new thing! I remember cutting pieces of this material and making each line a different color, it was fun!
This was just what I was asking about in another post...fantastic..do you need special foil for this or will it take most foils. How hot does it get. Doing a fantastic job Melody..you could do this for a living really..and interviewer...pat
I love the machine. Im actually very in love with the foil these days. My only issue is that price. goodness. Im trying to save money on making my own foiled stuff. this will set me back for each project. after adding the price of the machine, the foil rolls, the ink jet printer ( i dont have one) the toner ink, I have spent a mad amount of money for what ?? a few DIY projects. I love the machine, but I wont be able to participate in the hype cause it would be too much money.
Very cool. Not sure I would pay $149 for it but possibly with a 50% off coupon would. Wonder if you can do that with a regular laminator with a laser print? I believe the foil paper is readily available as I used that stuff years ago to stick to tacky glue. It would look amazing on invitations.
i love this machine although it is just like a laminator so i wonder if you just buy a laminator which is a lot cheaper and buy the transfer folder sheet and the foil i wonder if it would work the same i think it would
Not worth the cost. Since it can only work with toner you have to use a laser printer...more expense. I used to do this years ago with a special glue and foil. This will not be on my craft wish list.
Cool machine but I'd never pay that much as a casual crafter to do that when I can buy packages of embellishments that have the same look. Plus it doesn't come with hardly anything for that price :/. I guess if you do large scales personalized invitations it might be worth investing in.
The thing I think makes it worth it is you can print ANY sentiment you can think of with ANY font you can find and foil it. So often I can't find just the right sentiment in a stamp or I can find the sentiment but it's not the right size for where I want to put it. Just think any paper or card you have can have the right sentiment in the right size. HEAVEN!
Die cutters will limit you with fonts as there is a limit to how small the machine can cut and fancy fonts are even worse, and most die cutting systems require cartridges or programs etc that cost extra. But there are literally thousands of fonts available for free online.
desimon2 not sure what you mean by limited fonts, as far as I knew most of the machines can take any font ur computer has which is as many as I need. And yes ur buying into a whole system of crafting, but there are so many more options in my opinion as to what you can do. That being said I think it's a really cool foiling machine and is useful, but I'd be willing to pay more like $60 for it. Then again I can be cheap ;). Thanks for your opinion...
I was thinking mostly of the cricut when saying your are limited by the available fonts. Which doesn't have many fonts at all, and when your paying from $40 up per cartridge and you only get a couple of fonts per cartridge the Minc seems like a very cost effective system for limitless sentiments. I hope you don't think I'm being argumentative I just think that it is worth the price. Yes I did gulp at the price when I heard it. Esp as it's sole job is to add foil but when I thought how much money I have spent buying sentiment stamps it doesn't seem that bad.
