@@lexingtonconcord8751 I underwent a huge lifestyle change in my early 20s and now im 34, so this stuff seems like a lifetime ago. But there really was something great about being a teen in the 90s early 2000s. We were lucky to have lived it.
The way Muska man handles handrails in this video was groundbreaking at the time. Why compare it to the skating of today? Appreciate it for what it was then. I still see guys who dress and (attempt to) skate like Muska and that speaks volumes. The guy is a legend of skateboarding.
robbie tarnay dude I was gonna post a comment saying the exact same thing! so I'll say this instead, Watching chad muska skate, BACK THEN, was like hearing rock n roll for the first time. it was fucking witchcraft!
I remember becoming a skater in 1995 and lived through this era as a teenager in the 90s. Unbelievable times to be involved with skateboarding for sure.
goestovalium11 Yeh smolik had the sickest style. the days when a lot of pros where doing kick flip backside tail slide shove it out. that pose doing the board slide down the handrail was classic. I had the brown/orangish looking muska board and that shit really did have pop
This was so rad back when it first came out. These old videos have so much nostalgia. Man those were the days. Skating for 8 hrs a day all over town. Crazy how far it's come. Still dream about skating even though I only skate with my dog now haha.
Love all these old skaters, each had such a distinct style. Skating has progressed so much since then that it can start to look a bit mechanical among pros and a tre flip is a tre flip is a tre flip. Back in the dizz,e you could see that Muska 50-50. It's just a 50-50 but the way he stands up nearly perfectly straight, feet move very little from the ollie up onto the rail. A distinct personal style. Like Andrew Reynolds with fs flips -- lots of people can fs flip, but the way the long legs would suck the board up under him made it his. It's like playing a jazz standard; everyone technically plays the same song, but then you hear that one band just absolutely kill it. Every little movement is perfect
Watching this in 2023 you can see how powerful and burly a skater Muska was. Dude was a beast in a time when most people were trying to be super smooth.
that day was awsome and the forst go having to leap frog a 4 year old at the last second before comming off the rail then going back and doing it again flawless that was style fuck ya what up WR with all my boys in back ground brings back memories RIP dallas
That original shorty's team was the personification of 90s skateboarding. I don't think we will ever have a peak like that again. That's when style and persona trumped all the robotic technical shit that's become skateboarding.
Couldn’t agree with you anymore✊ I remember being a little as kid watching older kids and guys probably in their early 20’s skateboarding 🛹 in front of my building and fell in love the lifestyle. Great Memories
nwmxrider Youre right, it was a nice time in the 90's. I have a brand new pair from kareem campbell's axion nutek in my collection...pure skateboard sneaker history
Muska: hey, ima ollie down these three huge ass sets, all in a row! filemer: you should do it with no shirt on! that way if you fall you'll skin yourself raw! Muska: hell yeah dude
It's crazy to think about how much fun you had in the late 90s, rolling as a group from spot to spot, finding spots from videos, eating blueberry muffins and chocolate milk... holy shit those were good times
@@Lifaceyeah but the kids coming up now don’t do that. Sure some do but the majority of them just skate a parks and complain about little scooter kids when they can be in the streets.
A true OG when it comes to building your own brand. Muska and Shorty's were the controversial side of skating and brought that street edge to the game back then. True pioneers
LEGEND!!!! Damn I wish I could get a pair of those grey ES muskas. Those are probably extinct by now.. Luckily es reissued the accel last winter. Rockin those now. Best shoes ever. And the muska deck was my all time favorite board. We're getting old!!! ahhhhhhhhh!!!!
Haha. Did all his models have that? I didn't think I ever had the ES muskas but I looked them up when you said stash pocket cause I remembered that shit. Mine were the circa muskas though.
unbeatable swag man muska was the definition of cool. for those looking for his thps1 character outfit and special trick "ghetto blastin" its at 5:41 also the thps2 school house big kink rail is at 6:51
this was my shit back in like 7th grade. I'd watch this part everyday after school to get pumped to go out and skate. crazy how far skating has come since this.
I'm 28 now. There was something about that time in my life that has always given me an advantage. The advantage to know how to push yourself, to overcome fear, to be creative. Skating has saved lifes no doubt
Muska was my boy back in the day! It was about 2003 or 2004 when I got the red Muska deck and I was so syked. It was for my birthday or Christmas or something and I found it - I would try to sneak it out at night and try to do a kickflip or something with it before sneaking it back to its hiding place before my parents caught me. Ah good times!
Rumor at school had it Muska was dead back in the early 00's... the joy I felt as an adult when I found out he was in fact alive was great. Him, along with Glifberg and a Hawk/Mullen combo was the big 4 when growing up for me. Up down Circle baby
This part is/was historic. One of those parts u don’t forget. Like So many I remember from the 90s when skating leaped forward. The magic I felt when skating in the mid to late 90s in my hometown in San Francisco it’s hard to really explain. Special times.
The intro to this is so good, so smooth… the style… the vibe! I remember seeing this back in 1998 thinking this guy is the definition of smooth and chill. Ahhh the 90s skater...I miss those days.
Muska is one of the greats that brought a whole new vibe to the public skate scene. He is a legend and this is such an amazing video jus for the style it brought to the scene
This never and will never get old, awesome stuff, I remember when this came out I was just a kid now over my 30’s and it still very enjoyable to watch.
I was 6 years old in 2000 and i already knew kickflip, pop shuvit, 50/50, manual, thanks to my 8 years older cousin. I could ride to this day ;( Beautiful times
He brought skateboarding to the Top. He was so influential, A whole movement of skaters! city stars along with Kareem, Reynolds, Steamer, and the Chocolate Crew! RIP Keenan, Shane and all skate legends!
I see all the 30 somethings in the comment section back here to remember skating in the 90's. I'm 36, used to watch shortys hardare on vhs all the time its such a classic. I still got some baggy jeans to break out for skate sessions
Funny story... When I was around 13 Chad Muska was my hero. I remember asking Dad if I could change my name to Chad and he laughed and thought it was ridiculous. He still reminds me about it and I'm now 37 😂😂🤦
This is timeless and will always be good compared to anything because the Muska was/is and will continue to be one of the all time greats. A true pioneer and like Christopher Columbus...he came to the new world and murdered the natives !
I Loved this dude when I was Bout 15.. had the muska's shorty's shirts big baggy jeans and a half cocked baseball hat.. When I skated I kept a Boombox and extra batteries in my backpack.. Couldn't tell me shit!
5:55 the old wedge before it became a full skate park. i remember seeing chad muska show up there occasionally and all the kids would gather around. good times
That's incredible. I can't believe that dude is doing these insane tricks, while skateboarding with a heavy backpack full of stuff and carrying a boom box at the same time. Oh my gosh. This video is awesome
@@rxmink someone said something about noseblunt and something about muska was ahead of its time. My comment is about Mullen doing all that before muska so tell me if m ska can be ahead if someone did it before him? 🤣🤣🤣 To hard for you? 🤣🤣
Crazy good. I never got to see much Muska footage growing up, I always thought he was more of a hype man than a pro. How wrong I was; he deserved every bit of the attention he got.
Muska was and still is a legend, don't care what anybody says. Shorty's and Ghetto Child for life... Plus RDS even though he had nothing to do with it lol.... WU-TANG!!!
