Tony Hawk pro skater Jamie Thomas with blue jeans and a black hoodie. That's what sealed Jamie and Zero as my favorite. I was so good with him at that game.
I really think you shouldnt be afraid to let these run longer. You guys were in such good conversation and it just ended. When you have legends like Muska on and you are documentings these stories you are writing history and one day we will wish the conversation continued.
Thrill Of It All I love how humble and genuine you are Chief. I think it's so cool that you reply to so many comments on here and Instagram. You're one one the greatest skaters of all time with hundreds of thousands of followers and still find the time to mingle with all your fans.
Thrill Of It All I believe your episode on the nine club was a bit over 3 hours and I watched all of it over two days. Very inspiring to me. Let them go as long as you are into it. I'll watch them all over a day or so.
Muska man.. Dudes energy is so positive and contagious. I could literally listen to him forever talking about whatever. Like being hyped on tumble weeds😂😂🤙
I have been doing a pretty deep skateboarding dive based on THPS nostalgia and this video came up. a few things I noticed: 1) it’s very unexpected and refreshing to hear these real conversations, especially the zen-like way that individuals like Muska and Jamie look at skateboarding, and art as a whole. I really respect that view, because the more I look at skateboarding (this is the POV from an admirer from afar but not really into it enough to participate), I look at it as an art form. 2) Muska randomly naming 4 elements of Hip-Hop really means a lot, because it shows he cares about the art form that was my first love. It’s crazy how gaps can get bridged. 3) (unrelated to this pod) I didn’t know Jamie was from Alabama until recently lol. I’m from Arkansas, so yea…I get why he left for sure. Big Ups to you both ✊🏾
How Muska describes the feeling of just riding through the city at the very end of the interview gave me goose bumps. I can totally relate to that. Thanks for the interview Jamie and Chad. You both have been and still are a big inspiration to me!
The brave chief's taken' a leap of faith with this one. I wish him all the best and I hope the skate population gets another entertaining skate oriented pod-cast to pass rainy days with.
Oh hell yeah Jamie! You gave my friend a board at Love Park back in the 1990's with a drawing on the grip tape. It looked sick. He kept it on his wall.
Jamie, I don't know if Chris Roberts is someone on par with the likes of Muska to you that you'd want to interview him or not but I'd imagine his Nine Club Show inspired you to do this on some level and besides, everyone knows Crob at this point yet none of us know HIS story. This would be a great opportunity for you to interview Crob and get a lot of traffic over to your show because he's interviewed so many people such as yourself but none of us have heard HIS story. I think he'd be a great guest of have on. It'd bring a bigger spotlight to your show early on. Just my thoughts. Thanks for all you do.
Loved this for the first podcast. As an old school skater and being a big fan of both Muska and Thomas this was special for me! Please keep it going hopefully you can have some more old school dudes. 🤙🏼
Skateboarding philosophy is so deep. I love it! It's really disappointing when society dismisses skateboarding as a wasted past time for kids. It's just so much more than that!
I am not a skater, but have recently been obsessed with the individuality that comes with skateboarding and how each skateboarder try to explain what skateboarding means and shape them. Mad respect to The Chief and The Muska for sharing their stories from this and on Nine Club as well. Peace & Love
Guys, as a late twenties male coming from a crumby background in the U.K. all I can say is thank you. You both have made me realised life’s too short to be negative and wasting potential to help and encourage. Thank you
Everyone has their opinion, but I really enjoyed and valued this conversation. Obviously it's not going to come off as being 100% natural, there's cameras all around and this is the first episode. Jamie, I look up to you as a visionary, entrepreneur, and skateboarder. Chad was my favorite skater growing up and I am so grateful that you shared this. Keep doing what you're doing, brother.
Two of my three favourite skaters, so good to see "The Muska" back feeling it. His description at the end about the simple pleasure of pushing through the streets. Loved it. Jamie, ask Chad for the Tom Penny hook up and get that interview.
I remember first seeing muska when he was rocking the visor beanie and cargo pants (tsa life in the fast line era) he was a big influence in my life at the time ... Thanks Jamie for having Chad on as the first guest...
This may go unnoticed but I wanna thank you and Chad for being my biggest influences in my life from a child to now. Most kids played with action figures and video games and found a since of heroism through the characters that was played. But I say that to let you guys know that's how I looked at you and Chad. I appreciate your contribution to skateboarding and giving us kids that didn't "fit in" someone to look up to. Much love and props to you Chief.
Thank you so much for creating this video conversation with my two favourite skaters from back in the day. At a time in the late 90s when my only references to skateboarding were from The Simpsons and a lame kids' movie, you guys wouldn't have realised the excitement you created with a bunch of kids, halfway around the world, who took up skateboarding behind the back of their local shops, inspired by the pros in the THPS series. You gave us all a great gift that had a positive impact on a lot of kids that would have otherwise been lost. It's really inspiring to see pro skaters still going strong into their 40s and 50s, and seeing them reveal other dimensions of themselves through RU-vid and social media; it adds a lot to, and says a lot about, the incredible culture behind skateboarding. And yeah, my broken ankle still psychs me out some 15 years later; but that's just a part of skateboarding - we're all broken kids with unbreakable spirits. Doesn't matter how old and dead you feel, just grab a skateboard and charge down the hill like a maniac and you'll feel alive and unstoppable once more.
Jamie much respect to you man and I will always remember the day you signed my arm with a sharpie with the same tattoo you have on your forearm at the Active boardshop. As well as the picture that had me and my buddy in line at the signing which was up on the FALLEN website... I miss those shoes. great memories. I hope to meet you again, a true inspiration.
Can't wait to see more people you respect and hear you share your stories. Chris Roberts might have to make an appearance! Great interview and guest too
Jason Flores crob would be on the bottom of the list. Sooo many other pros that deserve recognition first! No shade to crob he's good in his own right but so many other great people it's hard to keep track. Andrew Reynolds first! :)
I don't really know how much Chris would have to say, lol, I would hope he would open up, but still after a hundred NC's I still have no idea how he got on Chocolate even.hahaha….
I just wanna hear crobs story because I've watched him interview people on nine club for a minute now, not the best pro to have skated but he's character for sure.
; I’m excited to begin this series. I left skating to pursue a different passion, though just as physical at times but I saw Jamie’s nine club interview and really identified with what his passion meant to him and the sacrifices he made to follow a dream. I’m interested to hear more stories from people he respects because I respect him. I also quit Burger King. 🤙🏼
This podcast has a bright future for sure. It's so cool to hear the background of Muska after watching you guys constantly on vhs tapes while growing up
Jamie, after waiting for months for this to launch, I'm not disappointed. Checking you out recently from the Nine Club and the Bunt, I wasn't truly skeptical of the transition from being the interviewee to the interviewer. On this transition, I'm super impressed! I read through ALL the comments regarding the possible rivalry for the Nine Club and audio quality/echos/podcast setting and I'd say fuck the haters. This podcast is about catching the emotion through a candid conversation and not (what seems to be) a structured, super produced show like the Nine Club. I believe both are great shows, but I don't think I would ever see Chad Muska talk the way he had in this interview without being throttled down by interruptions from Crob/Rog/Kelly/Eldy. Now I can't wait to see my hero, Ray Barbee!
"If you're trying to live your life to please others all the time, you're not gonna please yourself and if you're not pleasing yourself you have no ability to please others." I spent years watching these two skate to figure out the process of tricks. Now I'm listening to them talk to figure out the process of life and work! Looking forward to the next episode.
When I watched your 9C ep I thought to myself "I think Jamie is having way more fun doing this than he thought he would" - So to see this now makes me smile. I'm in. Excited to see where you take this.
two of my heroes growing up and skating. great to hear your philosophies on the culture, and life in general. Chad, you're an inspiration to many, keep doing you bud, you're worth is undeniable.
I’m glad I watched this right before bed it put me right sleep. As I’m sleeping I just kept hearing the word nurture. It’s like Jamie was dying to talk about himself that he began to not listen anticipating he turn. Then when he got it he nurtured his ability to talk about himself. Great interview Chad?
i do not disagree w you, this is the first interview I've ever done. i know that people are watching my show to hear me as well, but since this was the first episode I had no perspective on how much I should contribute. The Huf episode is less me talking, but it's definitely a process of learning & growth.
Gotta love Chad, that dude just radiates energy. :) Big up for Jamie too doing this. I bet he can get a legion of some really interesting guests to visit his show.
When I think about Muska the first thing that comes to mind is his tony hawks underground appearance... pulled up in the escalade hitting switches and hops out all B-Boy’d out. The whole town was stoked he was pulling up and you just had to get your tape to him! After that Muska was the biggest name in the industry for me
I’m late on this but thank you Jamie&Chad... you two inspired me in ways you’ll never know. The last scene in “Welcome to hell” 50-50 grind with Santana playing is one of the most memorable skate clips ever... long live these legends 🙏
"If everything would be perfect all the time, it wouldnt be perfect. It would just be" loved the show. Thanks jamie for taking yourself out of your confort zone and take the risk
Now these are two legends. Anything from seeing their video parts to playing them in the Tony Hawk Game Series. These 2 were always ahead of their time to make us still be blown away by.
20 min in and well it started a bit stiff but now it feels like a proper conversation and almost like im in the room with you guys. Looking good so far! Chad and chief straight up legends
Thrill Of It All, it is a awesome start then man! Love when people get out of their comfortzones and venture out. It gets me supermotivated to create stuff/energy myself.
Hyped on this!!!! I really connected with the concept, questions, what drives us as skaters and how we all on some level are like minded........ I for one am really blessed to have found skating and have floated in and out over the years but it makes me who I really am... Looking forward to the Next episode!!!! No going to watch Muska's parts over to remind myself how hes one of the Greatest ever... Good work Chief!
This was super awesome, you guys are a true inspiration on and off your boards. To come from very humble beginnings you two have established yourselves as leaders and have impacted so many people along the way. I've had the pleasure to meet Muska a couple of times and I'm so happily surprised of how positive and happy he is, he truly looks into your eyes and pays attention to you, like you're actually talking with a human. Thank you for this, I look forward to the rest of the season and many more to come
Chad and Jamie thank you so much for this i have been in a weird rut and kinda lost this gave me so much hope for life and my future the podcast is amazing these could go on way longer too everything works perfect cant wait to see more thank you for giving me hope and inspiring me to be my best cant wait to see more!
I had this revalation on skating and how it solves or helps you move fwd. you literally are moving fwd. like you step on a board and start pushing fwd setting you in motion both physically and mentally. Any motion fwd is like that but skating is more free and the style aspect of it. Your not moving fwd just to get A to B it's just enjoying the act of moving fwd and getting fresh air. Then there's the act of letting go as well like a hill bomb or committing on a land. That in itself is liberating
Finally got the time to check out the podcast, probably the topic of any 9 Club comparison has by now been done to death, but I just wanna say that the guests on both shows have a whole lifetime of stories to tell so even if both interviewed the same people there would still be so much to hear and enjoy, I will most certainly be tuning in to all of it. Stoked to see more of this type of content appearing. Big up Jamie!
Chad is thee Man! And I’m glad to see u start something new Jamie.. first episode was for sure cool and you guys flowed just fine. I love skating and have for 27 years now, interviews like this and people like you two are what I think keep me motivated and on my board! So thank you homie!
Thanks for this Chad and Jamie, you where huge inspirations for me as a teen in the late 90s. It's awesome that you can still inspire me 20yrs later as an adult. I've rediscovered you guys on this crazy journey while I guide my kids with thier choice to skateboard. Jamie I hope to run into you again at a demo or something, I think I still have some polaroids I took at a zero demo as a kid, it would be awesome to give u one of them:)
My first skate video was fulfill the dream because I saw that Muska board and had to watch it. My second video was thrill of it all because I wanted to see you do the leap of faith. Legends!!
I met Josh Kalis a few years ago when I lived in L.A. He was so humble and made me feel like I was his friend. I deeply believe in what Chad said about many lives and skateboarding at the end. I believe the riding of a skateboard lets us feel our true soul essence which is complete freedom. I wanted to meet Josh ever since photosynthesis I felt his love for his daughter it was magnetic. Chad and Josh speak for me and other people. Both are the zodiac Taurus and through my life I've been the most affected by that sign. I've always felt both are part of my soul family I love em both. Maybe someday I get to thank Chad in person too. Thanks Jamie for doing this I wanted someone like you to do this maybe because I'm biased because we are both Libras. Also I've always felt you could see and understand other skateboarder's point of views.
Loved the way you guys delved into the deeper spiritual side of things. It's an element that's lacking in other skate related content. Might be a good lane for you, Jamie.
Got to meet Chad at Tampa Pro 2000. He ended having the shop at the park(World Market) give my friend a whole box of Big Brother magazines. He spent the rest of the spring selling them around town. Muska is a solid guy and still one of the best.
I love this. Thank you so much for doing this Mr. Thomas, you and Chad Muska are such an inspiration. Keep up the hard work, as will I. Skateboarding is such a huge part of my life and you guys are some of my all time favorites. I'm glad to see that you both are staying positive and I hope the best for ya'll. Blessings my brothers.
Jaime you're like the next Dr.Phil. haha your podcast reminds me of the Dr. Phil show (in a good way). Looking forward for live ED Templeton Interview!
rolling and moving at a different pace from everything and everybody else around you.never heard it put like that before.so true and a great interview.thank you
I remember watching Welcome to Hell for the first time. It was in 95 and I just started skateboarding and never seen a skate video before but this movie rental store had a copy. I was fucking blown away. It seemed like it was hours long because I never seen that much skating at once. I had seen maybe Back to the Future or something and that's the only example I had.I watched that video probably and I am not joking over a thousand times. That video changed skateboarding videos forever. I don't know if younger people understand this. It set a standard.
I never realized when watching fulfill the dream when it first came out that Muska was such a deep thinker. Good stuff! I'm gonna have to watch that part now.
Such a cool idea !! Jamie I saw you at a Zero demo in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada!! Was around year 2000. Such an inspiring time for me, thanks for that and for this !! :)
I enjoyed this a lot, it's been kind of a meditative thing also... I loved the rather slow pace and that it's mostly talk without any other distraction... simple but meaningful. I stopped skating more than 15 years ago but these days I feel like I wanna get a board again, just to cruise. I watched thrill of it all on vhs for about 100times back in the day... a lonely skater in the middle of nowhere Germany.
