Worst you can do is have to take the nail polish remover and clean off the cab totally and try again (holds up hand) Would love to know how yours turned out. I'm here now to see how she does the bezels... I've knit enough byzantine chain already to stretch to the moon and back a few time...

I've only watched two of your instructional videos so far but they are some of the most well explained techniques I've seen on RU-vid. Great job and thank you. One more thing, epoxy is a sensitizer when wet and you can develop an allergy to it over years so never touch wet epoxy.

Yvonne Williams You are so talented. FYI I highly recommend: Venom nitrile gloves. They are very strong and since they are black, you can see when clear or light colored epoxies transfer to the gloves. Easy to put on & take off and they have no powder in them. I have not noticed any funky smell from them either, especially compared to the odor of epoxy. All the best.

Hi Yvonne, I have had trouble getting the correct order of rings. I was trying with all one color. But I have watched this video so many times and decided to try and follow along with 2 colors. Wow finally got the order of the rings to sort of following. I know I put in one ring about 4 from the end in the top or bottom (?) and it goes weird at that point when I put it down on the bench. But I was happy to use all the ring sets to the end. I will practice some more to get the hang of it. Thank you for your wonderful instructions and videos. Lots of love and hugs from 'The Great Southern Land' down under... Australia.

Good form for two-tube epoxy packs is to cut the plastic holding the plungers together. You want an equal amount of epoxy and hardener and thus style of container gives a much more inconsistent measuring experience. Love the videos!

This is great unless the rings you have are small enough that you get a tight weave and the chain won't reverse. I finally laid it on a finger knuckle and carefully knit across. The last link was excruciating. I knit enough to get it around a 30x40 cab and showed it to my spouse who was awed. Now I just have to pop the cab out, paint it, and glue it back in.

Thanks for the great tutorial! Hextal is a great super clear expoxy it does take 24 hours to dry but you have hours to get the consistency right for your project.. you also need a gram scale to mix it.. but it’s my go to for glass..
@merryclicker
@merryclicker 7 лет назад
Awesome instructional video - clearer than others I've seen. For epoxy, I use Bob Smith Industries (BSI) epoxy from Amazon. It seems to be clearer than most - I was looking for water clear, or something used on crystal or fine china. It comes in 5 minute, 15 minute, or 30 minute, all of which I have in case I'm doing one or 20! I don't get the applicator tubes, because I'm not good at pressing the two tubes well, but mixing is the same if you just have two blobs the same size. I don't use E6000 at all anymore. The curing time (if you read the package) is 24 hours, and it smells horrendous. If I have to wait, I'd rather get more hold than that.

I haven't used your specific epoxy, but with two-part resin you can use a small torch or just breath onto it to get the bubbles to disappear. I think it's the CO2 in your exhale that does the trick. You might want to try the breath method with your next epoxy job and see if the bubbles go away.

@sarabaumann7410
@sarabaumann7410 7 лет назад
Yvonne Williams Haha! The struggle is real with chainmaille weaves... and ORAAT = one ring at a time. It actually took a picture tutorial written out with using the wire for the initial few rings for me to finally get the half persians. I'm gonna start working on this one and 3/4 persian and see which I like better for wrapping. :)

I'm looking for a way to encase uneven, odd shaped stones (no holes).I don't like the wire wrapping technique for what I have in mind (and what a weird mind it is LOL) so I'm looking for something to do with chainmail that doesn't look too dominating....I want the stone to still be the main visual and not any wire/chainmail. @backtoearthcreations

Hey, Michael! I honestly don't set a lot of clear pieces because I haven't found anything that wont yellow over the years; I usually turn to wire wrapping to secure those stones that would be affected by the yellowing.

I would like to use my own images with something on either side held in by the same type of wire I am using to wire wrap the beads. I mostly use SS plated copper and solid brass Artistic Wire. It seems to be impossible to find. Thanks
