From Europe and the US to Argentina: ever more voters are turning to politicians who promise a radical break with mainstream politics. Populists and nationalists curry favor with simplistic solutions for complex problems ranging from inflation and inequality to migration and climate change. Bashing Islam propelled Dutch firebrand Geert Wilders to victory.
Argentina‘s Javier Milei wielded a chainsaw to demonstrate his intentions, while Donald Trump promises to spend his first day in office as a dictator. Is outrage the new recipe for success? Have elites failed…or could they enjoy a comeback like Poland’s centrists? We’re asking: Chainsaw Politics: Cutting down the democratic establishment?

I don't think you can lump Argentina in with the US and the Netherlands, unless you're OK with 140% inflation and widespread systemic corruption being considered "the establishment."

People think the US politics is super corrupt, but it might not seem that way because there's a ton of money around, especially for regular folks. On the flip side, in Argentina, where it's not as rich, corruption feels more obvious because of the country's economic struggles.

here in Denmark, there seems to be this cycle where a new populist party will emerge on the far left or far left, and become very popular. But once they manage to become part of a coalition government, it becomes very obvious how useless they are, and they will usually disappear by the next election... Moral of the story: It is easy to be in opposition and complain about the government, leading a country is hard.

Use short and clear sentences. Simple. It’s not about populism it’s about communication skills. The academia has a tradition of flowery expressions. They all need to go through a typical tech startup accelerator and try to sell their ideas to investors. You have 3 minutes to capture attention of your investors (voters in your case). It’ll make you good to learn that style.

DW is left wing by the standards of media that exist today but it's not left wing by any other definition. DW exists to advance German influence abroad just as PBS America and BBC World Service. That premise is not left wing but colonial in its thinking. However even though DW is colonial at heart, it's news output is still 100 times better than almost every single English language news station bar none.

The issue is that the opinions of the People were ignored for too long. the economy numbers in the US, are being completely skewed by the political establishment and media establishment. When it comes the cost of living vs average income, the united states is more like Argentina, the wealth is concentrated in a small elderly oligarchy, not much different than Russia, but on a bigger scale

Part of me welcomes classicism returning to the principle chairs within society, under the table methods do not function from that position. Classicism will be in direct communication with the omnipotence that is our true lord & master, the universe, & their actions will be on display & recorded in the history books.... Is classicism fit for contemporary life, contemporary understanding.... I could write pages on this topic. While on paper it looks like the U.S. is doing well, in reality the citizens are not. The prices for everything have gone up exponentially, yet wages remain stagnant and not keep up with inflation. So while employment is low, it takes two or three jobs to make ends meet, education, housing and medical are so high that they are unattainable for the average American. Neither Republican or Democratic administrations seem to have a clue. Desperate people will grasp on to anything in desperation,. Trump is popular because he is not the usual candidate, but sadly, he will not help the average American anymore than the established parties.

Trump's border fence is a continuous steel fence that communicates sound for miles. Pair the fence with microphones every few miles and then the Border Patrol may monitor to locate on the fence where activity sounds are being created. I can't overlook Mr. Karnitschnig's blatant anti-trump rhetoric as it appears a bit unprofessional and heavy handed, yet I'm thankful he presented it as such as, IMO, he's not the least bit wrong.
