All pro saws have winter mode, and most of the larger homeowner saws. And when it’s really cold (-20° C) or when cutting in deep snow they have a cover for the starter cover that keeps snow out, I have a video on it and they are a must have atleast here in the winter. The winter mode also doesn’t really help with a cold start only a hot start kinda but it’s really to keep the saw from freezing. I have a full video on it. It’s definitely a must have. I’ve frozen up a carb a ton of times when cutting in -40°
Who knew! Another great lesson learned and great job with the cold start on the beast 👍🙌🔥💯 Now leave your chainsaws outside for one hour and see which one cold starts first for your next video 😉😏
Just an FYI, the 'winter mode' door is usually found on pro saws. The idea is to use that option when running a saw below 40 degrees F, it helps direct warm air from the engine towards the air filter and carb to prevent icing in the carburetor. Safe cutting!
I was shocked when all that was in the RipSaw box was clothes. Cutting the box open with the electric saw worked pretty good, perhaps that will be another use for my Stihl GTA 26.
Cleaning the air filter by compressed air from the outside in seems counterproductive to me. It just makes the dust more compressed to the filter. You should blow it from the inside out. But my personal opinion is just to replace the filter with a new one.
I love the dog cut in the background! Looks like you’re really expanding your menu! What would it cost to get you to do a custom carving at my cabin by cooks forest? Maybe around the sawmill festival time so you don’t have to travel much? I’m serious, let’s get something going
This is gonna blow your mind! But some of the stihls came with bolt on covers for the pull start and air filter cover! Usually the Arctic models that also had heated handles.
Egans make a great filter for the 881 and very nice exhaust. Also in the manual with the winter/ summer mode it comes with a pacemaker warning. Ignition system causes a electromagnet field that can be fatal to people with a pacemaker. When starting the decompression button is your best friend. Please clean your saws when you finish using them or the dust/ chips & oil set and are harder to get off inside. Maybe also research adjusting carburettor l. West Coast Saw has a good video about tuning by listening
Good morning and great video Jenna. Take the air filter off then clean it out. You should have your own merch shop. Take care and have a blessed and safe day
