yeah, this is how it used to be but eventually a lot of people started complaining about getting cracked in the back of the head by the next chair coming around the wheel that they changed best practices.....
I'm a lift operator. You wouldnt believe how many people have never skied/boarded, and they ride up the lift that has no easy way down. They arent allowed to ride the lift down where I work, so usually ski patrol ends up having to take them down.
this, we took my friends gf that said she boarded before and was confident so she wanted to come to the top with us... quarter way down we had to call ski patrol for her because she couldn't make it down.......
Don't know what a lift operator earns, but their bonus is in laughs. I'm sure they see some hilarious things daily. I remember getting all tangled up in a bunny lift when I was first learning. My friend and I laughed so hard, we just had to sit there in the snow and regain our composure.
we get paid shit here in co too, and after like three times, your gapper shenanigans loose their entertainment value, unless your really sexy, ill pick you up off my ramp all day lol
@@Alto-le2rq I mean strength wise. Like if you fall and cant stand up, you shouldnt be doing a sport, let alone going off on your own on a mountain. Some of these people werent strong enough to stand up, even with someone lifting them up.
@@michaelpugh2617 only reason they can't stand up is because of their legs being locked to boards and the fact they're on snow. And yes, they're noobs These people obviously should've started on the treadmill lifts and small slopes.
@@EmmaJ_462 lol, ,you think there was treadmill lifts on a lot of slopes during this era of skiing? i've been riding since '85 and never even saw a treadmill lift until the early 00's. want a laugh go and try to find a pair of sticks from this era and try to ride them, even ski design has changed tons since the early 90's making things a lot easier.
@@EmmaJ_462 the lady at 2:58 has no skis on and cannot stand up, even with someone else helping her up. She should not be skiing, she should be on the treadmill.
I don’t think I was ever as bad some of these! But I started out on a ski hill in a building in Japan and you had to sidestep to go up! That was 65 years ago .
I remember that I was skiing at Lake Louise in 1998, and it was on the 3rd day of my ski lessons and our class was skiing at Mount Norquay. Well we were coming up the chairlift and I was waiting at the top for the rest of the class. One of our class members forgot to get off the chairlift and the lift she was in was facing downhill when the lift had to be stopped and the lift attendant had to help the young lady off the lift, as her skis were airborne
Snow blades are so easy to get off a chair lift and a lot easier then skis for sure....!!!!!!!!!! Sierra at Tahoe here I come there's a blanket of snow on them there hills.....❄️⛷💙🎿❄️⛷💙🎿❄️⛷💙🎿
If so many people fall it means the arrival should be fixed the ground drops all of the sudden and the people cant touch the ground. They should be getting off earlier
Don't grab the fricken chair, lifty! What haven't they taught you?? Press the big red button instead of fighting a 1,000 pound chair. Everyone is to blame here... They should've at least slowed the lift down. When beginners see obstacles (such as tools, poles, other people) in their way, they tend to get flustered, and that's what causes these pile ups. If the lift operator had hit a slow or a stop, the first person in the pile up could have had time to recover and thus avoiding the other incidents. Also, unclip a person's skis. That is so much easier than trying to pull them up. *End Rant*
As a former lifty slowing the chair and pressing the stop button only says falling like this is acceptable, it's not, if you can't get off a chair you shouldn't be skiing or snowboarding
keeps you busy, top shack on the difficult runs is actually kinda boring/chill depending on how you look at it, you just sit there listening to music and eating, on the bunny slopes it's like a work out....what's even worse is being an instructor to beginners, double so when the people are just completely physically inept.
My advice after a view comedy falls is.. hold ski poles in one hand.. place other hand on seat ..stand up with free remaining on seat, let the chair push you a little on your skis then push yourself away and shush to skiing freedom from the chair
This lift has a lot of first time skiers. The lift operator can stop the lift but is not paying attention. Getting hit by the chair can cause real damage. The lift is going too fast for beginners. Good thing the snow is soft.
I went skiing for the second time in my life and went on the lift for the first time and I was in tears. When it was my turn to get off, I took the weird metal thing at the top and pushed it up and when I had to come off. The lift guy was on his phone or something and I was waving to make him slow it down but he was distracted. So I made it down the lift on my first try EASILY on the hard lift.
My 1st snowboard, 2nd longest run in Japan, didn’t fall off the lift because I used one foot, but took us about 3 hrs to descend! Was beautiful, and was able to stay up and turn either way by mid point, but had some severe crashes to begin! Can be dangerous... tailbone was aching for awhile after, but cannot wait to get back and improve! No matter how much of a kook I look like. ;)
its not lift problem, most of them are very poor beginner skiers, 2:30 he just wanted to touch her i can fully understand it there are weak beginners, normal beginners and also good beginners, third one would easly withstand that
where the hell are they that 1. No one knows how to get off a ski lift and everyone looks like complete amateurs 2. The lift operator is in shorts. 3. Not to many people have hats on and are dress fairly light. 3. The lift only stops if someone is stuck to it and are heading back down?
i'd like to see you land a 450...lol....540 is doable but 450 is one and a quarter rotations, you're gonna have a bad time trying to pull that off....typo, i know but kinda funny given your comment. ;)
@@ulcus... lol, as a engineer and former ski patrol that's stupid nomenclature....but to be fair skiing, skating and snowboarding have always had stupid nomenclature.... i mean not even snowboarders count the 90 to get on a rail as part of the total rotation....but whatever, it is what it is i guess....
