If Kanye did what Eric Sermon did on the song "Just Like Music" where he has the isolated vocal tracks of Marvin Gaye I could see it being about the vocal but ultimately the purpose of using that sample was to draw the parallel of Kanye going through the accident to going through the fire. Musicians are not as special as we think we are and it's not a hit unless the fans tell us it is.
