The Reclaimed Heirloom Hi 👋 Thank you..... I’m definitely Annie Sloans biggest fan ha ha I do paint already so I’m used to AS. I’m wanting to learn all these great new techniques to give my furniture more depth. I’m struggling in the Uk for clear Glaze. All Amazon products here are I available The Wooster brush pad you used in one tutorial I’ve ordered that from the States as no one here had them. You are so lucky over there to have all of the variety. I need glaze. One of my projects is nearly finished I just want to blend it more. I’m on glaze alert ha ha xx

It's gorgeous!!! I have two of these, part of an Italian bedroom set. I want to do that old world finish you did on a dresser with my dresser, but I want the two single beds to be blue, with some kind of wash. I think AS paint colors can all go together if done as washes. Can find neither glaze nor gel so far in Italy. .

🦋What number sand paper did you use first? I wish I could find a nice piece like this, to be creative. I use DIY PAINT, it's a clay base water clean up. It's non toxic. I never know where to get beautiful images to decoupage.

Hi Barbara! Good question, it depends on piece on what to start with for sand paper. For this piece it was in very rough shape with stains so I started with 40 (Rough) grit and then smooth it out with 120 grit sand paper. The higher the grit number the more smoother the finish is. That's great you are using DIY paint lots of nice colors to choose from! 🙏🎨❤️

Critical note....You need to use a LASER printer otherwise, the ink from an inkjet printer will smear. If you only have an inkjet, spray a couple of times with clear sealer first.

Hi Queens! Thanks for the feedback good tip! So far, I have been using my inkjet printer at home for the decoupage with no issues so far. I make sure to MOD podge the image to seal on top (let dry) before proceeding with any other decorative finishing (i.e. Chalk Paint). 🙏🎨❤️

Hi!! You can use any brand of printer as long as it can print in color. Most printers are inkjet types, I have a HP inkjet printer. I just save the image as a .jpeg file and print it from my computer photo album folder. All computers can do this. 🙏🎨❤️

What a fabulous little piece from humble beginnings to a piece of art! I love the use of glaze and color glaze to achieve a bit of translucent effect of the paint. Using the glaze makes the surface moist and more workable for paint techniques. As my instructor years ago told us, "butter" your board or surface, I feel it allows the color glaze to "slide" and actually gives an easier paint surface to work on. It really does add some depth as well I think. I am so happy to have seen this video as it makes me eager to return to furniture painting after many years, but also offers inspiration in other ways. I like the printed portrait as part of the decoration, and your transformation of this cute little stand is stunning!

Super cute, love the color combos! If you'd like to get a truly seamless decoupage finish (literally NO wrinkles or seams), I highly recommend checking out the Dainty Gifts youtube channel. She uses a wetting technique (I prefer using a plant mister) laying your paper image upside down on a plastic file sheet, let the water seep through a bit, dab excess water off with your shop towel and then apply the image to your pre-mod podged surface. Then smooth image from the inside to the corners with your shop towel as you did and mod podge over the top as you did. Because paper expands when it gets wet, the pre-moistening of the paper allows for absolutely perfect application every time! Cheers, Cat-

... the paper size is 8 1/2 x 11 Standard size but you can make it smaller by sizing it on your printer settings 🤗💚💚

BTW, I worry when I see anyone picking up furniture or fabric chairs and sofas on the side of the road or theft stores as there is a big bedbug problem in this country. Everyone should always spray the furniture with insecticide in the yard or garage before washing the piece and bringing it inside the home. There are reasons people get rid of furniture. My daughter thought someone sold their home to her with the issue but it was not the case. The scare was so bad that my mother paid for pillow and mattress covers and the pest control company to come out as many times as might be needed. They could not find anything but still we needed to be assured as she lives in Florida that there was no bug inside that older home near the beach. There were actually none. The one bug she did think she saw was likely not a bed bug but can you imagine the fear she had. They did end up buying a newly built large home a few years later. She bought it new for fear of bugs. I know it's paranoid but until you have had that scare, you can't even imagine it. So always take precautions. Old wood could have termites as well. Better safe and sound than sorry.

Could you use this gel stain on exterior doors? The doors were stained and sealed but they are looking worn. Only three years old.

Hi Emilie! You can use gel stain on exterior doors (I am assuming its wood) with a polyurethane top coat suited for exterior use. I would recommend that you reach out to your local home improvement store advice about which products to use. Minwax has a great porduct line for what you are looking for. But I would recommend consulting someone that specializes exterior paint products. 🙏🎨❤️
