It's a political satire on the NAR government which was in power in Trinidad and Tobago from 1986 to 1991. The "driver" was the Prime Minister elected, Arthur Napoleon Raymond Robinson. The country was at the time experiencing difficult times due to reduced oil prices (our main export) as a result the Government implemented austerity measures which were very unpopular at the time. Hence this calypso.

@@everybodylovesraymond8839 I was in TNT for that final, and did not understand the song, until someone explained to political situation. He won by a landslide that year. Be the way I live in the caribbean. The line about the school kids summed up a hundred page document.

@Eisham Khawaja I hope now you understand what Chalkdust (real name Dr. Hollis Liverpool) is singing about. This is social/political commentary. Calypso is known as a poor man's newspaper. Artists like the Mighty Sparrow, Lord Kitchener & Roaring Lion attest to the fact that before the news hit the newspapers, a Calypsonian would make a song about it.
