Sometimes people that are old just work for the sake of working too, like as bus drivers or cashiers, I worked at a place where this old guy used to work with us too, and he didn’t really even need to work he just did it because it was part of his everyday life
Looks like it goes on really smooth so maybe . lol The company that made it shut down but then another bought the rights and people bought hordes of it because they thought they wouldnt be able to get it anymore but I dont think you can buy it in the states.
Towing or booting is a punishment to a known offense, ticketing is the lesser punishment. Chalking is a technique to mark cars to catch an offense. I agree with the judges, it's not right.

Its not considered unconstitutional in irvington, NY where this was filmed. The new case law only applies to the 6th circuit states: Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, and Tennessee. New York parking enforcement is still allowed to use chalk. So directing him to continue is not against the law.
10 FEET HIGHER MAGA actually there’s a thing where I learned from real estate class. Is that if you have a driveway or some sort of road going through someone else’s yard and you’ve been using it for over many years. It is legally okay for you to keep doing it and then they can’t tell you to stop.
They do that in auburn Alabama next to the university even with parking meter's with full time on them no fees on football game or live events during weekends
Sharell Fagbeyiro they started doing it in CO my mom parks her other car on the side and rarely drives it. She took it to work last week and left it at the corner. A day later they marked the tires and left a towing ticket. Moved it to the other side on the street cause it’s the old lady who keeps reporting us and hates our cars on the side street. Did the same thing to my bros old Subaru.
In Michigan we had a similar issue where police were going through bar parking lots and putting red chalk marks on the drivers rear tire. Then if they pulled you over, they would look down as they came up to get your information. I would be the designated driver occasionally and had some fun with them when they came up and asked how much I had to drink. "Yes sir, I had 5, coca cola's" then I would get an attitude as to why they pulled me over. Nothing they could do except say things like "I thought you had a headlight out, or your license plate light isn't overly bright".
I preferred the chalk method. Every 2 hrs you go out and check your tires. If there’s chalk, you wipe it off for another 2 hrs of parking. Now they’ve invented cameras with gps that snap a pic of your plate and if that same plate is in the same gps co-ordinates a bell goes off and the guy driving gets out and writes you a ticket
It's horrifying how few people realize what ruling this "unconstitutional" is going to lead to. Everyone seems to think that without chalking they will let people park everywhere forever, which they seem to think is great, not that they will just have to step up to more technological/invasive methods that will get worse in the future. Take the plate/gps picture combo, you think once they've started regularly collecting this data they won't use it for far more than tickets? Once they've collected that data they won't delete if they don't have to, and then it's only a matter of time until others get it such as other departments and hackers. The best case scenario is civil engineers asking for it for better planning, worst case and much more likely is that they use it to track people and permanent movement histories. I've never understood how people can be so short sighted about traffic cops, if they stopped doing their jobs everyone's driving/parking would be more annoying and dangerous. If you have a legitimate problem with them you need to change the laws, not blame people for enforcing them. Instead people get angry about the laws enforced on them.

Allie Bagz he cannot proof continuous presence so he cannot fine. You can park for 5 minutes then 2 hours later come back and park in the same spot. That is the main pourpose of marking cars on the tires.
@@juliannerobinson3245 6th circuit court found that chalking is un constitutional based on supreme courts verdict in 2012 about GPS locators. Constitution applies to all citizens on USA no matter the state, 6th court took precedent that already exists from Supreme Court.

We don't have those typical parking meters. Here you buy your parking spot by card. And very often there drives a car around with cameras on its roof. Every car plate gets checked in a sec and a few days later you have a fine at home 🙄
In our city, each plates are scanned when inspectors drive by via a camera so when they drive by again it know who is who AND some has parking spot sensors that tells them when you over parked. Fine are then sent via mail of email if you prefer. That's the high tech he's probably referring to.
I have very unique vehicles and I don't have a problem paying for parking but you can't it's all 2 hour parking. I used to do that when I was in the city visiting a businesses as the spots around me were open so no point of moving. I would just wipe it off then she caught on and wrote me a warning on a backside of a envelope told me I had to go around a full block then park again to be legal.

6th Circuit doesn't cover NY so until the Circuit Court with jurisdiction over NY or the Supreme Court rules that it is unconstitutional, this ruling only applies to 6th circuit jurisdiction.

If chalking makes it easier for the warden to identify vehicles that take longer than what they are allowed then its a ticket and its a very good practice. There is no damage to the car and can easily be washed off and its a very good indication to the wardens so I see nothing wrong with it as a brit. Irvington has some of the highest taxes in the country if not the universe. They don't want meters because they're ugly. The whole state of NY can suck my asshole.

Police in the city this was filed were not just chalking for parking. They were also chalking people that were parked at bars. Including workers, designated drivers, or people that just happened to be parked in the public lot. that was very well known 17 years ago; parking was not enforced in these lots during the times that they were marking tires

How about the government gets a warrant before they monitor your vehicles movements. But if you follow the laws, then you have no reason why the government shouldn’t listen to your conversations, or test your weapons, or collect your dna, or ask your colleagues what you’ve been doing.

As much as I agree with you this also helps the private shop owners. People are not nice they will sit in park in a free spot for as long as they can even if it's nowhere near where they need to be they don't care who they inconvenience.

I'm surprised so many sheep are for this. This isn't breaking the 4th ammendment, this is an act nearly completely unrelated that was (not by the supreme court) decided to fall under the 4th amendment. Chalking is a fantastic system as the chalk wears away with driving/a wash, and you dont have to pay to park. And even if you want to park for longer than city allows you just drive around the block real quick. Now those towns are being forced to switch to a purely revenue based system (funny how that's what they claim they are fighting against). Marking the exterior of a tire openly I'd blatantly not a search of any kind. And in no way is related to GPS. This is just a Federal attempt to overrule state rights. If the people disliked it then they should vote away with chalking. My guess is once the cities are forced to switch and people realise they will be paying $2 parking they used to get for free when going out for dinner, they will wish they could get the chalk back.

Perhaps you get all in the face of any bird that shits on your car or any insect that you hit along the road as well. Again, if you are against chalk that is fine. Go to your local representative and request he look into a vote to change local law. But this is the fed forcing local governments to switch from a system of FREE parking, to one where you are required to pay.

Wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a wave of similar lawsuits against that tech and any options to replace it including camera license plate readers etc. People can just keep bringing them at every level available in all states until it gets through and or they get somebody friendly in place. Publicize that ruling and then reference it/actively find similar cases/potential cases elsewhere and give them that info. Aclu is already bringing suits if I remember correctly about license plate readers even though frankly that’s probably valid/useful to society for protection/saves lives in a number of contexts though it would be good if there was more data made available about it.
Applying any Undesired markings or defacing any object that does not belong to you is considered graffiti or vandalism and is subject to jail and/Or fine. In all states. Heres one example. What would happen if you write "Shop at Joe's" as a free advertising in Chalk on a city building. Is it acceptable because doing so it is generating revenue for someone else's pocket. Heres the point. If something doesn't belong to you. You shouldn't be touching or marking it PERIOD.

No it’s unconstitutional for tracking. Parking meters keeps record but the chalk could label. It washes off but it’s the principle that chalk mark could be used to track down your car.
They chalk tires here in residential neighborhoods. We have 48 hour parking monday through friday, and there is no way to legally enforce it thats cost effective except chalking tires. My neighbors hate it as they're on welfare and might move their car every 2 weeks for street cleaning so they get tickets. I don't mind it as I work and drive my car daily and have to usually park several blocks away because of the cars that do not move. TL;DR Chalking tires is fine, obey the laws and it won't affect you.
Possibly you're very young or never lived anywhere but one area.... I've lived in several areas of America and this is a VERY common practice, unfortunately😟 What happens is 1) Many places just have a sign that says 1-2 hour parking, then some a whole jock-blocks the spot ALL day to be closer to their job, when they could have just parked in the lot...say down the block or 2 blocks away B) Their are 2hr meters but the city ( and frankly, most residents) doesn't...again want employees/business owners HOGGING the metered spots ALL DAY vs allowing CONSUMERS to come and go throughout the day. The issue is if ppl get frustrated and STOP coming to patronagize the downtown businesses because they are disgusted with having no place to park it hurts everybody....most ppl only care about THEMSELVES, so an employee would rather run out every 2 hours to jock-block a space right out front for 9 hours til quitting time vs walk a few minutes. Not 'understanding' how many customers they are CHASING AWAY, pushing towards the internet...possibly costing JOBS in the process....but hey, while they can afford to keep that car at least it's parked close😌

Gemini Eric I’ve lived in America for five years and have been to twenty two states. I’ve never seen parking enforcement chalk tires, and I’ve gotten at least 11 parking tickets.
It was once a Popular thing to happen in almost all states. but most states dont bother doing it anymore. IE they have Parking Meters or in some places just a car that has cameras that take pics of plates in certain areas like that have a time limit of 1 hour. and usually by time the car does the round its been a hour later or so. and if the plate pops up the driver(ie Parking Officer) will get out and write ticket
In my country we use a very simple method. Parking tickets, you can buy tickets for half hour and 1h, you write your plate in it, mark the date and time when you parked and that's it, if you need more than 1h you just add more tickets...

what they don't tell you in the short news video is that the decision has yet to be enforced and it is possibly being appealed to a higher court where it will be decided and until then the decision is up in limbo. Most people have no idea how complex a federal court ruling is and how long it takes to be enforced.
They've been doing this in San Francisco for a long time. I think they stopped sometime last year and now scan the plates. I would just roll my car forward or back to hide the chalk marks and get an extra 2 hours of parking time. Such an old school way to monitor cars.
They're tracking your movement, so yes, just like them attaching a GPS to your car without your permission. That's why they use chalk, most people never notice it.

I work around chicago and use their app to pay for parking my work vehicle, was actually ticketed claiming I parked in a completely different spot than were I did and paid for. Whether it’s chalking tires or parking meters I am strongly against charging people to park in public spaces that we pay taxes for. Chalking tires and charging parking fees encourages people not to visit your business and when they do to stay no longer than they need to. It’s not about parking it’s about money. Before customers even make it in your door they are being extorted by the city for parking and fines.
I just realized after stumbling on to this story that when you use the chaulking method people get to park for free for brief moments. it's much better than meters which require money as soon as you park
