Sheldon finds himself in jail after arguing with a judge on the big bang theory season 3 episode 16. Kindly SUBSCRIBE LIKE COMMENT SHARE AND HIT THE NOTIFICATION BELL
He could have just pointed out that it was Penny's car with her in the passenger side. He has a learners permit while penny has a license so she would have been at fault
Funniest part is that if he had said he was going fast to the hospital with an injured passenger he would have had a chance to have the charge lifted. Then again, he would have insulted the judge either way.
@@llarmstrong783 You think Penny would have told the truth? She already threw Sheldon under the bus that ended him up in court in the first place, I doubt she'd suddenly accept responsibility now she was in court.
@@infinitecrows6630 he probably figured a scrawny guy like Sheldon saying something like that to a guy like him was bat shit crazy and not the kind of dude you want to mess with.
If I had to pick one, I'd say that the absolute funniest moment of the entire series is when Sheldon says "that's my spot" to the big dude in prison. I couldn't stop laughing the first time I watched it.
You know, the judge was quite reasonable when listening to Sheldon. If Sheldon just explained why he drove penny to the hospital properly, the judge might have cut him a break
That was just Sheldon's opening statement. It is basically a thesis paragraph for his arguments. His first argument was that Penny is responsible for Sheldon's driving because Penny is the licensed driver and Sheldon only has a learner's permit, and that Sheldon was merely following Penny's instructions. His exact words were "I was improperly instructed in driving by a woman whose lack of respect for society borders on the sociopathic." While I think he was using some hyperbole here, I think he has a case in regards to this argument. His second argument was that he was performing necessary actions for the health and wellbeing of another, and the law makes exceptions for that. He ran a red light to get Penny to the hospital in an emergency situation, and that meets the criteria for such exceptions. His exact words were "the emergency met the legal doctrine of quod est necessarium est licitum, that which is necessary is legal." I think he also has a case here too. His third argument was that security cameras violate the 6th amendment because the 6th amendment says that you have the right to confront your accuser, and Sheldon is arguing that his accuser is a non-human object and therefore impossible to confront. I do not think he has any case in this argument. The Judge merely heard his opening statement and did not let him present the evidence for each of his arguments. Instead just declaring him guilty. Though when Sheldon insulted the Judge to his face after the Judge disregarded Sheldon's case, Sheldon was in contempt of court as determined by the subjective opinion of the Judge (Judges have too much power in our legal system).
@@steveross8364Um, No. First, Sheldon is an American, just like all Texans and anyone from any U.S. state or territory (whether by birth, naturalization, or just non-citizen residency). Sheldon was born a Texan, but Sheldon now lives in California and is therefore now a Californian, just like how someone born in California who moves to Texas becomes a Texan. Sheldon is an American in an American court with an American Judge, not a Texan in a California Court. Second, there are Democrat Texans. Being Texan is not synonymous with being Republican. Every state has a mix of Democrats and Republicans, though different States have different ratios of Democrats, Republicans, Independents, Third Party members, and unaffiliated people, and the same applies to the cities, suburbs, exurbs, and rural areas within these states. Though, I think a case can be made that the government of Texas does hate their Democrat citizens, given that they purposefully gerrymandered the State to disenfranchise them, as well as enacted other policies in a blatant effort to discourage voting by their Democrats (Texas would have gone blue in 2020 and 2022 without those interferences). The government of Texas also seems to hate their LGBTQIA+ population (especially their transgender population in recent years), their neurodivergent population, their immigrant population, their atheist population, their non-Christian population, etc... Democrats have been fighting for the rights of LGBTQIA+ Texans, neurodivergent Texans, immigrant Texans, and non-Christian Texans, etc... That is not hating Texans, that is loving Texans, and trying to protect them from the abuses of their government. Third, we do not know what Party Sheldon is, but he has expressed misgivings about how right-wing and religious his mother is, which are traits associated with the Republican Party in the modern day, which could imply that Sheldon is not a Republican. Given how Sheldon loves procedure and bureaucracy and authority, I think he is most certainly a voter, and he probably votes Democrat or Independent.
Given how narcissistic Sheldon can be and the tantrums he throws when he doesn't get his way I enjoyed seeing him get thrown in jail by a judge who wouldn't take his crap
Whos to say Jim Parsons doesn't share any of the selfish egotistical narcissistic traits of Sheldon, after all,it was Parson's salary demands that helped kill the series, so he deserves whatever he fucking gets, fictionally or otherwise
It's not a coincidence. The guys are at Stuart's comic shop meeting Stan Lee while Sheldon and Penny are at court meeting "J. Kirby", the J probably being Jack.
Big doesn't necessarily equate to tough. I mean, it's VERY likely Sheldon would've got his ass kicked, but that's just him. A smaller man with excellent fighting skills could've easily prevailed. That is, until the guards came and broke up the fight.
@@Koorosm I agree, Sheldon normally gets his way by pestering everyone and throwing insults at them like a child throwing a tantrum until they give him what he wants. But when he tries doing this to the judge all this does is get his ass thrown in jail for contempt of court. Bottom line, Sheldon's whining might be annoying but it won't help him against someone with actual authority over him and no patience or reason to tolerate it. Sheldon got a much needed reality check.
@@clarkkent8286 you obviously witnessed sheldon give strong evidence for this case and you complain about his great attempt. you're as pathetic as the judge was in this scene. he is obviously intellectually superior than everyone in society and by that deems him better than everyone around, goofball.
I had a day with a judge like that when I was 17. I tried to argue the officer could not know it was me that had done a bunch of donuts in a parking lot because he arrived after the event was complete and there was so much smoke he could not know it was me from the half mile down the street where he was originally parked. I was in the only car that was running in the lot when he got there and all my friends were standing around my car praising me and laughing. For the court appearance, I got my hair cut and put on a suit and everything. The judge did not miss a beat - "Guilty - pay the fine at the desk."
Guilty in hebrew means surety ..the judge placed ur body as surety of the charge ..undischarged it with a promissory note drawn on the federal reserve bank .. Its all business at the courts.. We lend our energy to be surety of the debt game bu laoning to banks..the govt controls this debt inflation by borrowing from the inflated debt and the cost of that borrowing we bear as surety by us as surety allowing the govy to pass statutes and codes ..which are debt adminsitrative instrument..this tax farming is delegated to the court sysrem..which act as a negative bank ( collecting on statute violations.from the bench ..meaning bank , banca.. Crime pays for the govt debt ..so govt increasing debt incentivises it to pass increasing number if statutues and codes to increase the chance of the public to violate these statutes .. Its called discharging or payingnur debts to society ..ie law society acting as tax farmers for the govt debt wherenu agree to be surety to the national debt .. Social security is security of the national debt ..social security funds and holds the majority of US treasury bills, not China .ur body and its priceeds are .security of society that u licence to adminsiter the debt Utube : birth certifcate what are you worth Utube : occult law of commerce jason whitney
The burden of proof is low, generally preponderance (more likely than not). Based on your story there seems to be enough circumstantial evidence that you were probably the driver of the car that did the donuts.
One of my favorite episodes and scenes! But FYI, yes Penny TOTALLY betrayed Sheldon, not only in having him be the one get the ticket but not telling him before hand. But between helping him meet Stan Lee and all the other stuff he’s done to her it evens out.
And yet he insulted the judge twice and got himself thrown in jail for loving being right (or in his point of view, "the truth") more than genuine kindness
Then he turns to the biggest, scariest guy in the cell and says, "That's my spot"🤣🤣🤣Yeah well, Penny's lack of respect for society may border on the sociopathic but his astonishing social ineptitude is dead-on suicidal!
For someone as smart as Sheldon, it’s incredible that he doesn’t take into account the possible retaliation of those he insults 🙄 No matter the academics, he could be so dumb about some things
Sheldon remembers the event, points out Penny's picture in the passenger seat, her car and license plate... And Penny still thinks she can get away with: "No it isn't".... 😂 Penny just because you're dumb it doesn't mean that everyone else is.
Funny thing is if he hadn’t have insulted the judge he would’ve had a chance of meeting Stan Lee once they were out of court cause they could’ve gone to the comic book store after all this.
This is the closet we see to Sheldon pulling his shctick in the real world and I love the punch line of why is Sheldon in Jail being answered as He does what he always does and everyone nods.
Realistically sometime in Sheldon’a position would be earning a pittance - he’s not a professor, he doesn’t have tenure, he doesn’t have industry funding and he doesn’t do any teaching. I’m surprised he’s even paid enough to live on, but the show implies that he’s very actually very well paid (but still not judge well paid)
@@FredBstar3K Not all of us no. I have it BTW. I would never insult someone on purpose, unless they insulted me first. However, I often say things that are often taken as insults
The funniest part about this clip is: There's currently a "Cov!d 19" disclaimer warning from YT under it. In Feb 2023. Under a video that does not mention it, or hint about it, or have anything at all in the world to do with it.
