I think champions the only brand of generator aside from Honda and Yamaha that I would buy. Unlike pretty much every other "off" band out there when you need support from champion you call a phone number and talk to a real human being in the United States. I had an issue with one of their generators and had a replacement generator in my hands 3 days after calling them.
@@winstonsmiths2449 Yeah I know a lot of other brands out there get good reviews I just don't like the support most of them offer. If you look at most of those other brands that support options it's usually just a form you fill out on a website. That's often a bad sign and indication that supports not going to be great. I'll pay a little extra to have an 800 number with a real human being on the other end I can call if I have a problem
I bought a Genmax 3500 ied that Gavin spoke highly about. After about 50 hours, I was having an issue and needed to talk to the company. This company has a physical location in Southern California. I called them and spoke to a technician in person and he talked me through what I needed to do. So, I wouldn’t count out an “off” brand, just because the generator is made in China. Just my experience…
Recently purchased a champion 5500 inverter generator. So far, I have only ran it for the break-in period and changed the oil. And I only used propane to fuel it so far but it seems ok can't wait to use it camping with the trailer I am buying when it comes in from the manufacturer. Which should be soon hopefully some time this month.
That's a nifty little generator. I don't think you'll be able to use it when you're RVing though. It doesn't match your paint job. One thing's for sure. You'll never lose it in the grass.
I like the led lamps on the side were the panel is and also a small battery operated flip led near the gaz cap to see in the dark during fill up. Nice unit it is easy to move around.
They're marketed for camping (amongst other things) imagine youd soon get complaints about the noise. And if used for fishing - are there lakes with deaf fish?
Thats actually not true. I have the dual fuel 2500 Champion, if you switch the fuel selector to "Propane" , while running it on Gasoline, it will burn all of the fuel from the carburetor bowl within a few minutes and stall out. I have tested it, and it works.
I was curious if it would drain the bowl, so I tried it. I actually have two 2500w champions that I parallel for my RV, one is dual fuel, one is straight gasoline. The gasoline only model fuel selector is OFF-DRAIN-RUN-CHOKE. The dual fuel is OFF-PROPANE-GAS-CHOKE. I looked at it and wondered if the dual fuel would empty the bowl if I switched it over to "Propane" while running it on gasoline and not having a propane tank and regulator hooked up. Sure enough, it ran for a few minutes and died out exactly lile my gas only model, thus proving it worked the same way.
Nice generator ❤...was wondering, off subject: I have a predator 9500 and want to parallel with a Honda, what's the best way to combine the power sir? Mahalo. Love LOVE your channel ❤️!!!
I need a generator for my 2023 Intech Explorer RV. It has an 11k btu dometic. I’ve been planning to purchase the Champion 2500 DF. Any reason I should choose this one instead? I think both would run it - but they seem about the same size?? I do wish the 2500’has the gauges and separate controls for gas/lpa like the 2000.
Hey Gavin love your generator videos keep em coming 👍🏻 I do have a question if you or any other followers can answer, I have a 2500 watt dual fuel champion that is overloading with my rv AC while running on propane. Haven't tried it on gas yet. I emailed champion and all they said was to use the high altitude jet in the carb. So I was with the understanding the propane did not run through the carburetor or was I mislead on that and should i try the different jet? I'm currently at about 3000 ft elevation. The first couple of times I tested it out it was cooler ambient air temp and all was well but now it's in the 90's in AZ where I am and it won't hang. My RV has a micro air easy start which reduces the needed starting wattage by about 65% and it will start the ac but only run it for a minute or so before the gen derates and the ac kicks out. Then the gen goes back to normal rpm but the ac is off. Thanks for any help offered and have a good one!
Hi Robert To begin my recommendation to you is that you just don’t have enough generator for the job. A 2500 W is the minimum recommended for one AC and that’s a 13,500w. Jetting the generator is not going to create more power especially on Propane. You need a larger inverter generator at least 3500 W minimum. Installing a soft start on your AC would help tremendously. Thanks for watching I hope this helps
Hi, I own the Champion model. But I use to run my 13500 btu air conditioner in my boat with a Honda EU2000 (the newer model is now 2200 starting watts). The A/C could even start with the eco mode on. Once started, I could even turn on the fridge and battery charger. Really impressive. Of course, it’s at least twice the price of this Champion depending where you but it.
That gen was really struggling to hold 1600W on gasoline. And you had overload indication. It seemed to run better on propane, and even carry the load better! I actually own that unit (along with others). I bought it a few years ago, when there were very few choices for a duel fuel inverter gen. My experience with this unit: 1. Initial quality out of the box was poor - the 2-piece plastic handle was not screwed together correctly and 2 of the threaded inserts were stripped. I could have sent it back but it was actually faster & easier to fix it myself. 2. Engine never ran smoothly at idle or full load (just like yours). It was smoother after break in, but not perfect. 3. In comparing this to the Honda 2000, Yamaha 2000, Craftsman 3000 and Predator 2000 inverter gens, this honestly scored the lowest in my opinion, for overall build quality, engine smoothness and sound, and power output. The Predator runs and sounds just like the Honda. Pros: mine holds 1600W with no overload, with gas or propane. After sitting winterized for a year with a dry gas tank, it fired right up on propane when I needed it, and it ran fine with varying loads for 6 hours. control panel with fuel level and load is a nice feature and was rare for a duel fuel unit from a few years ago. I contacted Champion with all of my issues and offered to send photos. They also posted my review and sent me a t-shirt, but nobody every addressed the issues I had right out of the box.
*Engine never ran smoothly at idle or full load (just like yours). It was smoother after break in, but not perfect.* With it being dual fuel, I suspect you have a carb issue.
