I’d like to see the best and worst kicks inside 50 broken down to position because I reckon an inside midfielder would be kicking under pressure compared to a winger who may be kicking with more time and composure.
yeh dont see the point if we're counting long bombs... he talked about the safe option well that IS the safe option half the time and gameplan, so not kickers fault all the time if forwards don't compete.
Halfback flankers moving into the midfield is nothing new. My club used to do it back in 1984. Young players would be given a lock down role, then when the midfielders began to run out of legs, one of the halfback flankers would spend the final term playing as a centre and one of the older guys would go onto the bench.
Will Freo stack up agaisnt the top teams? How is that a question? Mr ill back history till it changes. We beat Brisbane, umps robbed ys agaiant Carlton and we beat Sydney at the SCG. O and we are apparently pkaying even better now. Honestly Freo are a massive chance.
Hoiny in that sample size The Dockers beat up on the Demons by 15 goals. I’m guessing points on turnover would of helped that dramatically It’s a crap stat not everyone plays each other twice. Some teams put the cue in the rack early. The last 7 years top 3 teams have won it all (can I work at champion data too) And the bulldogs are the only team to win it outside of top 3 in 25 years…. Your quite brilliant Hoiny
Not really. If you're a good kick you're a good kick. Guys like serong are magnets and always give 100% but his kick is very average and always has been. You only need to watch the games to see it. Same with walsh
The numbers would be skewed anyway then because at this point of the season teams wouldn't have played each other twice. So we couldn't have any analysis until after the end of the h&a season? Once the top 8 is set and everyone only cares about the finals? Get real lol
The stats are actually reflecting the trajectory of Freo this year, though. We were average early but our game over the last six weeks has been elite. Our turnovers game has seen us climb the ladder, as the stats suggest.
@thattassiewargamer still very inconsistent and a long way off a top team. Watched them play GC in Perth about 3 weeks ago and their ball use was horrid. They just butcher so many kicks going i50. Im a dees fan so trust me Im used to seeing trac and Oliver missing easy targets going i50.
Far from being a long way off a top team, we're actually in the top 4. We've beaten everyone else in the top, except for Carlton. As for the game against Fremantle, we controlled the match and only lost due to a controversial free kick. Please explain your statement haha
@@stevelozevski8151 if your talking to me ? i would say watch a few games his abilty to lead players to ball/space is second to none . i watch a lot of footy i dont go for the swans BUT Guldens. kicking is next level a fewe years ago i would have said Jack Macrae
I would like some discussion about the insane concept of "zoning," where players foolishly guard vacant space, when the opposition have control of the ball. WB players, like Naughton and Vandermeer become non-competetive after their team scores a behind. The oppposition kicks to an unattended team mate, who then launches an attack. So for a good part of a game, the WB play with only 15 players as three are minding the grass. If the WB forwards manned-up their opponents, the opposition would be forced to kick to a contest, instead of a free pass. Has anybody noticed this madness?
The problem with the game plan against the swans is twofold: 1) to play that uncontested/disciplined game is super difficult 2) it is very low scoring 3) the swans have played actively poorly for long chunks in the games we've lost 4) the other teams have generally had their best games against us 5) we've barely lost/should have won All that equals: yes there are some issues for the Swans, but thinking they've been "worked out" is folly
Champion data. Lord preserve my patience. Might be a good way to fill in air time on a wednesday afternoon but jesus christ what a waste of oxygen. "Jordan Dawson is among the worst kicks in the competition". Sure he is Daniel, after all, stats don't lie.
Half back flankers, are 80% midfielders as juniors who don't get to play the game there as draftees. Youre not a genius , it's obvious to all. If you compare statistics, like best kick inside , each player compared needs to have the exact same number of kicks inside 50 to compare against. You can't have "30 - 18 effective" vs "60-32 effective'
No you don't, providing you set a minimum number of kicks to have a large enough sample to reliably measure against. It will only be indicative because it doesn't factor in the pressure the kicker was under, how long the kick was, how many realistic targets he had to choose from etc.
Also , just remember when this bloke goes " X is the 2nd best team in the comp in Y , over the last 6 weeks" with all his clarifiers, when the difference between each team for whatever stats is often like 5 pts between each. Luke 1st (15) 2nd( 13) 3rd (10) . Youre embarrassing
😂saints 4th best turnover. They can't score. They are bottom 4. Your math means nothing. Last premiership teams best turnover teams?? Yeah probably best defence and offence as well.
“Bottom 4” is heavily misleading this year. Saints are closer in skill to top 8 than to the bottom 3. Saints and Adelaide sit in no man’s land, not quite as good to be a finalist, but DEFINITELY better than the 3 lower teams (across the season). North are sort of redeeming themselves atm, playing in a lot of competitive games, and could definitely be sitting at like 4-5 wins rn
@gwilkes5325 they're bottom 4 bottom 6. It's not misleading because it's factually accurate. North have alot of skilled players, an AA forward. Gold Coast have numerous highly skilled players. As do Adelaide and Richmond, that doesn't change anything when you're not a good unit. Saint Kilda are still a poor scoring team, has been that way even more so under Lyon again. Turn the ball over in the back half sure, a team based on defence first, but they don't score. They don't look to score aggressively, hence being bottom 6.
And when they say turnover game, it means scores FROM turnover, and DEFENDING from turnover. Saints turnover game would definitely be skewed from defending against turnover rather than scoring off of it. For example, kicking 46 points off turnover but giving up 26 points to opposition in turnover would result in a +20 in turnovers. Whereas, only kicking 25 off turnover and only giving up 2 points would put you up at +23 Probably the case tbh
@20:25 - its the full ground. Thats where that youtube channel/meme - "freekick hawthorn" has been around many many years. first 5 mins against the pies we got 2 ridiculous ones against and then not for Collingwood. i turned of the rest of the game coz seen this for years, specifically against hawthorn, how to win when its like that...
@@Jeepers234 you were the person who originally posted a dopey comment. I'm here trying to help you by telling you to get over yourself. Once you get over yourself you'll be able to move forward in life.
@@Jeepers234 I didn't ask you to care about me🤦. You crying about Gerard not liking your team was hilarious. But Gerard hates Hawthorn. Waaaaaaa🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Who really gives a Shit about Champion Data. It's overated!!! Champion Data said last year that the PIES were no where near the PREMIERSHIP RACE. ITS WHO TURNS UP ON THE DAY .... SIMPLE AS THAT. Numbers always look great when your Hungry!!!
