I have the same generator. When checking the oil you do not screw the dipstick in. You just put it in until the threads touch but not tighten in. It also takes 1100 ml of oil so the whole bottle is the perfect amount. If you are going to run 5w 30 then use full synthetic and it is good year round. That is the information I got from champion. I strongly recommend reading the entire owners manual as there is a lot of information about breaking in the motor and short and long term storage care.
Agree with WHY you want one. We live out in the country but have always had marvelous power reliability. I have always wanted one for possible outages so we'd have our gas furnace blower and water pump working. It gets bloody cold here and a power outage could cause pipes to freeze and burst. But.......as crazy as the world is getting, you hit the nail on the head with another reason to have one. I bought the same one as you ! It gets delivered in 3 days.
The oil provided is the exact amount required. Reading directions would show that along with battery connection required. Have a Champion 10k dual fuel, put over 300 hours on it during aftermath of hurricane Ian. My Cummins was under 8 feet of storm surge so that puppy was a no go. Change the oil every 50 hours and you’ll have a good return on your investment
Just talked with Champion. You are supposed to run the oil it came with for the break in period of 5 hours at 50% capacity. After that, refill with 5w 30, and your good to go!! Ok 👌
I'm almost ready to buy model 201175 but it costs twice as much! It has very similar specs plus an inverter and is much quieter. I have lots of neighbors close by and I don't want them showing up at my door with torches and pitchforks, or more likely long extension cords.
I would have liked a little more details on the start with the choke on and off and the start button...it is explained in manual but it's good to read manual and then see how you did it as it looked like it took a couple tries
Just bought the same generator, did you have to ground it in order to use 120v? I’m just setting mine up now so haven’t had a lot of time to research. Thanks!
Ground it? I had an electrician friend of mine, install a power inlet on the house. Now I fire up the generator, plug in the cord and boom! www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08BY3811Z/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1
Appreciate the help, I actually figured out what was going on. I had the 33 amp breaker switch flipped to off and I didn’t realize that was the breaker for the two 120v plugs. She’s all good now! Thanks again!
@Real Man Skills I waited for homedepot to get my WEN and arriving at the store to get it all they said is we ordered it, it's processing. I called their customer service who said it was delivered, oh, I see 2 shipments, then they called tge store. I walked onto the stores receiving dock like I worked there.hey, that got polite and quick personal attention! All very nice, and they knew about the wen. It actually got there in a few days- I'm into this 2 weeks?? The wheels came in, no generator. No one knew if the generator was reordered/shipped/ nothing. I went to tractor supply and got yours. It is 221 pounds, and a bear to get out of the pickup. I used truck ramps, put cardboard on the ramps, wore myself out wiggling it to the cardboard and it slid down. Read manual. Wheels and legs went on easy, filled with the supplied VietNam oil. Hooked the battery, added ethanol free fuel, turned to gas and manually yanked that cord. 2nd crank and perfect. Ran 3 hours, changed oil, changed to propane. Ran 20 minutes till propane ran out. During the breakin I added 2 1200w heaters and changed the wattage several times. I like it as much as my older 4000/3500 (something like that). The electric start is fantastic. I read on another dual start review to use gas now and then to be sure the needle valve doesn't clog over time.
The worst customer service ever. They just don't answer your call so if you have an issue or need parts good luck. I will never buy again and can't return once fuel is added. Save yourself the grief go with Duromax or some other company that actually cares!
