Have you read Betrayer? That book contains a lot of information on Kharn and actually portrays him in a different light than just a bloodthirsty killer.

Pontius Pilatus I haven't, but I've seen things from it that would correlate that. When I cover the World Eaters and Khârn in the Legions series I will try and allude to in some way

@@TacticaImperialis honestly, not even talking it up, it's probably the best 40k book in my opinion. It explains a lot about him and writes one of the best tragedy stories for Angron who unexpectedly I see as the only genuine victim in the intergalactic war.

P F a bit late to the thread but Slave of Nuceria also develops Khârn even more, and it has this insane part where he receives the nails. I would highly recommend it if you like the World Eaters.

Torgaddon wasnt a traitor member of the mournival but horus aximand, torgaddon was the loaylist one with loken

Kharn’s reasons for becoming Khorne’s champion have never been adequately detailed. He was still mostly sane while the rest of his Legion was falling to the Nails.

Head Librarian Didn’t he turn right after the Heresy during the battle against the Emperor’s Children? I don’t know if it’s been shown in any novel but the impression I got is he just snapped due to Angron’s continual failures and the fact that they’d lost the war with the Imperium I mean bloodshed and Khorne worship were basically all he had left.

mutegrab666 yeah I believe he already had his power boost by the siege of Terra. Especially since it’s stated that Sigismund was still able to kick his ass despite said power boost.

Looking back, The Emperor was a horrible daddy, not even letting Angron end side by side with his family. Also, huzar for impalement plot armor.

The Emperor needed Angron, letting him die in a hopeless war would have been a waste in his eyes. Though it raises the question of why he didn't help him out..?

Tactica Imperialis Hell, had he just arrived down at the planet behind the enemy lines while they were engaged, they would probably route in an instant, then the rebels could start pacifying the planet, and the Emperor would have another planet for his Empire, and a less pissed off son.

+Jasper Daugaard don't forget the Butcher's Nails though, Angron may not have been mad at the emperor any more but his aggression would still have been sky high. So even good daddy Emps may have still resulted in a traitor Angron

Tactica Imperialis Sure, but he would have no excuse to join chaos. Whereas in the books, he could turn around and go "this is the guy that let the family that raised me die, he deserves to get dethroned"

Some choose not to be (though I think that only applies to Abaddon). I think Khorne keeps Khârn mortal because that way he spends more time in the mortal realms killing and attempting to gain more favour with the Blood God; once you become daemonic, you have to manifest through Warp tears and that will delay Khârn's rampage.

Kharns title is kind of Khornes mortal champion. So him being elevated is kind of just making him a weaker version of Angron.

Part of Khorne's essential idea is the concept of mortality, there is little to no virtue in an immortal daemon warrior, but kharn actually risks his life during every confrontation, his blood flows just as freely as the blood of his opponents, a mortal champion is in greater communion with the god of violent death, that's why Kharn is the chosen of Khorne.

The traitors in the Mournival were Abbadon and Aximand, not Torgaddon. Though I can see how you might make the mistake as Aximand was always regretting his decisions.

Ah, oops! I heard about the daemon Tormaggedon and so assumed it was an ascended Torgaddon (thus he went traitor not Little Horus). Sorry, thanks for correcting me!

Also, apparently it is him. He was pulled from death and made into a daemon. "It is implied that Tarik's gene-seed was harvested by the Sons of Horus after his death and later used by the Word Bearer Chaplain Erebus in a ritual intended to summon Warp entities on Calth during the Word Bearers' assault against the Ultramarines Legion; "Tarik reborn, he-who-is-now-Tormageddon" is named amongst those summoned, alongside known daemons such as N'kari, Epidemius and Samus."

why is his arm not armored? maybe he is so bad a** he doesn't need extra arm strength from power armour to strike blows?

I am unsure but what i'd guess is that armour restricts movement slightly so without any armour on his arm he has the ability to manuevre gorechild slightly faster. Either that or just to look like a badass with chains wrapped around his arm.

I just went through a shitload of 40k forum threads and apparently.... no one knows. There is exactly one mentioning in one Black Crusade rulebook as the arm of Khorne giving a character a strength boost but it's not explicitely associated with Kharne. So the most probably explaination is: Rule of Cool

Kharn seems to have a wee bit of an issue with temper tantrums. Perhaps he should try yoga? Maybe get his chakras realigned? And possibly kept away from matches and sharp bit of metal. Other than the whole deal with him killing everyone he seems nice. Ambitious, you know?

Yeah..Ezekiel Abbadon...the name most butchered in vids. It is not Easy-Kyle, Easy-kill...it is E-z-key-ll or E-z-key-ill depending on your accent...as for Abbadon...please no more A bad on, Abby Don, A bo-dan… his name is Ab - a - Don. Pronunciation does change according to accents, but we aren't talking about the difference betweent Al-oom-in-um and Al-you-mini-um (mostly because the UK version is more correct)...however, the established pronunciation of these names have been established for centuries as they all come from Historical and Mythological Texts. Sorry, pointless snobby rant over.
